Are professional personal trainers worth it?
Exercise & Training Tips |
I don't think you should get a PT, I've learned a lot of things on my own, especially from the errors I've made. Just get a knowledgeable buddy and ask him to help you get started, then just read articles online and research about how the body works.

What to eat after work outs?
Diet & Nutrition Tips |
If you can, eat a few eggs post workout. Eggs are high in cholesterol which is needed to produce testosterone. They're also high in protein, and taste damn good IMO.

Milk for Fat Loss
Exercise & Training Tips |
You've posted this on other forums. First of all, fat doesn't make you fat so the fat content doesn't really matter. Calories in vs calories out. Second there's a study on pubmed that actually contradicts your statement, and shows that people who drink milk actually lose more fat over time than people who don't, I'll try and find that.

trying to gain muscle mass
Training Routines |
First of all, 7*3 is 21, not 27 lol. It's a very good bicep workout, but when does the rest of your body get hit? You'll look funny with big arms and small legs, and it will also take longer to build "muscle mass" if it's only in one area. Your legs are where most of your muscle is, you should be working legs, shoulders, triceps, back and abs. And like Clifford said, diet is basically everything. I'm 17 and I know lots of kids who go to the gym, have been everyday for 2+yrs, and haven't grown an inch. I find it hard to compliment them lol, but at least they're getting stronger. Make sure you have a solid diet, and have a lot of calories.

Does anybody have or use powerplates?
Exercise & Training Tips |
Quoting: vj23 Ha you guys are obviously weight lifting pros. ahem. It definitely does something. It's more core stability and posture work. Like I said. I do weight training also along with cardio and have my protein shakes too. And yes they are miles more effective and i don't get worked up doing the plate. Tiger Repellent? Sign me up! Ha. Didn't realise I'd get flamed for this! Was merely wondering if anyone uses them and thats all. Teach me to keep my mouth shut. Weights and shakes from now on I guess. The problem is that it costs a shitload for a vibrating surface. I'm sure you could get the same amount of distorted tension throughout the body by standing on one of those half pilate balls. No we probably aren't weight lifting pros, but I think the consensus is clear. |

Does anybody have or use powerplates?
Exercise & Training Tips |
![]() Hahaha dude you wasted your money. This is by far the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Toss that thing away and get some weights and protein. Quoting: vj23 Plus it's some gadget. Used by professional footballers and the like. Only cost £1000 +They also lift weights...seriously, return that and get a Bowflex or anything, that thing won't help you. |

Tell us the story that brought you to this group.
Bodybuilding | Muscle | Hardcore |
Quoting: dradik Sure you will lose your gains when you stop taking it, but you will still gain some strenght from prior to creatine (hope I explained that well). That isn't supposed to happen, you usually do lose size and volume though, because creatine makes your muscles retain more water. I have been off creatine for almost 4 weeks now, because of an injury and still benched and curled them same yesterday. |

Supplements
Bodybuilding | Muscle | Hardcore |
I don't recommend you get a glutamine supp, it's a non-essential amino acid that your body can manufacture rapidly. You should get some casein and whey protein; whey for post workout, and casein for about everything else.

Not to gross anyone out but..
Diet & Nutrition Tips |
There's a saying, "if you're thirsty you're already too late." Just drink a lot of water before you actually have to force yourself to get up, out etc for water. I drink lots of water because I take lots of multivitamins and bcaas so I got it pretty much covered.

Hey
Introduce yourself! |
Quoting: rach_1623 I don't think that is true. We need Bour to give us some expert advice on HIIT. Well I am doing weight training and cardio everyday, and I really can't do anything but a light jog/walk or I risk recovery and muscle. Also I thought it was common knowledge around here that muscle is more likely to be burnt before fat in cardio. In any case, HIIT will burn more fat but I do low intensity for longer time intervals for said reason. |

Hey

It's fine, there is no "best" cardio workout, just do what you do. I used to do sprints, but now I am focusing on my muscles and HIIT burns more muscle than low intensity.

It is said not to eat carbs 2 hours before you go to bed because it will turn into fat, it's bs. Post-workout is when you need carbs, so yes eat an apple.

Where do you train/workout/exercise?
Phoenix Metro |
I do push-ups all day, but for an intense 30min with Perfect Pushup at 11AM. I then go to the gym at 6PM for an hour, and run for an hour at night.
Here's a little workout you can do in your pool with the dumbbells. Throw them into the pool, and grab them in there and hold them by your side. Go to a deep part of the pool where it's about 6 inches taller than your head and jump up, breath and sink down, repeat. You should do it near the edge for safety, but it really works your lungs and legs. |

Hey
Introduce yourself! |
I run at 9 or 10PM, and pass out at 12. The first few nights I didn't go to bed until around 1:30AM, but then I went to bed at my normal time everyday after.

"Nine Cold, Hard Weight Loss Truths" art
Motivation Tips |
This article makes it seem harder than it is. If I was obese reading this, I would immediately say "oh I'm f'ed." All it takes is eating less than you consume, exercise will add to your calorie deficit, it's that simple. I do like number 9 though, people reffer to eating healthy as a "diet" when that's how they should have been eating in the first place.

Hey
Introduce yourself! |
Quoting: ncrawley I've read about that, but doesn't that add more muscle and thus make me heavier?Muscle isn't heavier than fat, a lbs of muscle is a lbs of muscle and a lbs of fat is a lbs of fat; muscle however is more compact than fat, so if you fill a cup full of muscle and fat, more muscle can fit into the cup and it will thus weigh more. Yes it will make you heavier, but fat is easier to burn than muscle is to build, so if you're trying to do both you shouldn't really be idling at one weight. |

Exercise Does Not Lead to Weight-Loss
Exercise & Training Tips |
I've seen people lose a ton of fat without any exercise, just changed their diet. You gotta intake less food than your body burns so it has to release it's own fat for energy, but exercise helps. Many people assume you can eat cookies, chips and soda all day as long as you exercise, when what they eat is the biggest factor in whether they shed fat or not.

I just remade what you said you eat, and it has a ton of sodium which retains water, which could have possibly attributed to your 4lbs weight gain.

HIIT. Do 1min at a really high gear, then 30 second sprint after. Go another minute at average speed, where it's not too difficult to peddle, and repeat.

Chipotle

Quoting: XTCinOvaltine Ive gained 4 pounds....weird.*reads thread title again* Lol. You're not going to get yourself anywhere on a Chipotle diet. If you must eat out, get Subway or something of the like. I used to eat out a lot, but I stopped and haven't really missed it. |

Out of Surgery for a Month, Need Help!
Exercise & Training Tips |
Check out this site. It has a bunch of pics of weightless body workouts. If you do them back-to-back with little/no rest inbetween, it can count as cardio and works your muscles, I've worked up a sweat closing my door and windows lol. Something that's not shown is shadowboxing and regular squats. I also like to extend my arms all the way out and go in circles 100 times both ways, gets my arms tired. You probably won't build too much muscle though, but you will definitely loose fat and your muscles will be more visible.

I don't think you'll need motivation for more than the first month, after the ball gets rolling the results and numbers should keep you motivated.

Fast weight loss?
Exercise & Training Tips |
I'm taking a stack of Hydroxycut Hardcore and Tonalin CLA (6 pills a day for both). I'm literally losing nearly 1lbs a day since last week. I went to bodybuilding.com and got some advice from someone their, he told me simply to cut out all simple sugars and bad carbs, and keep my "snacks" separated by 3hrs and they should be no more than 450 calories. I've cut my time at the gym from 2hrs to one, and I do calisthenics everyday for 30min. I think the stack is working, I haven't measured my bf but my bench went up to 240lbs now, and I can do 8 reps of 40lbs curls now.

Bodyfortress Super CLA
Diet & Nutrition Tips |
I'm taking Tonalin CLA now too, 5 pills because the studies I mentioned said it was effective against the placebo group at 3.5g. I also noticed my stomach shrink when using the Bodyfortress brand. The Tonalin CLA is supposed to be straight CLA, with 750-830mg of CLA.

Want to GAIN weight
Diet Plans |
Just eat a lot of good foods and fats. You should probably try a weight gainer if it's that hard of a problem for you, they're basically calorie, protein and carb bombshells lol.

Weight-In
hundred push-ups |
I haven't been doing the program but I am trying to get to 100 my own way. I did 40 earlier today, I think the perfect push-up helps.
