My new favorite dessert-like snack

Mine is chocolate flavored protein bars. I choose them carefully. I make sure they have vitamins and minerals and that they fill me up. Filling me up is something a candy bar has never done for me. Pears and apples are also great.
Smaller meals myth?

For me, three meals a day with 2-3 snacks a day has been working. I have never before lost weight and not been hungry. Before I would have larger breakfasts and larger lunches and smaller snacks. I now even them out more. The biggest difference is now I am not starving after supper. Before I would do great all day and blow it from 7-10 pm.

Everyone is different. Find what works for you.
How often do you get on the scale? If you get on the scale!

I weigh every morning. My weight watcher wife has been taught to weigh only once a week. My motivation for weighing in everyday is so I can relate it to my food and exercise log to check for trends. This has allowed me to find the range of what I call 'net calories'. This may be a made up term?? I calculate my calories for the day and subtract what I burn in exercise. I then weigh the next morning. This has given me a rough idea of the amount of calories I should aim for.
What was your trigger?

My trigger was vacation pictures. They do not lie! Also, I stepped on the scale after vacation and weighed in around 15 lbs heavier than I had expected.

It has been an immediate turn around for me. Thanks to Fat2Fit Radio, I am making a lifestyle change. I am NOT on a diet. I am eating to get to my goal weight and I will eat this way the rest of my life.

I have been doing great. Lost 10 pounds in 29 days simply by eating healthier, tracking calories, and exercising almost daily. Eating 3 healthy meals and having 2-3 snacks a day works for me. I will snack in the evening if I have a more intense workout than just walking.

Weight doing down, self esteem going up.

Hello from Illinois! I am Tony and this podcast has been a blessing to me on my journey. I was shocked into action after seeing summer vacation photos and then getting on the scale. I was at 237.4 lbs on July 22, 2010. Now, on August 20, I am 227.4 lbs. That is 10 pounds down.

This podcast is great! I have incorporated eating three meals and two snacks (one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon). This alone has helped me to lose weight and not be hungry.

By the way, I am 40 and 5'11". Next goal is to get to 214 to break out of the BMI Obese range.

Tracking your steps with a pedometer would help you know how much you are doing. Good luck.

Paleo Diet?

I am going to look into the Paleo diet. This is the first I have heard of it. Sounds interesting.

I am a Christian and have always thought of pursuing a diet similar to what they ate 2,000 years ago. Maybe I will go a little farther back.

I suffer from airborne allergies. I may try the diet and see if that improves and how my energy levels are.

Thanks,

Tony

Congrats on your decision to join the military. I am ex USAF and loved it! Basic training will be a challenge, but you will remember the positive moments forever. As an encouragement, I lost 15 lbs in basic training. Basic training is the best weight loss program there is.

If you lose a few pounds before you go in, that is great. If not, you will lose it when you get there. Be proud of your decision and be proud of yourself.

You have to share your secret workout. Did you tie yourself to the back of a motorcycle?
Boy, I let myself go!
Introduce yourself!

Hello all,

I have been so busy working during the day and working on a Master's degree online at night that I have let myself go. In the past two years, I have gone from 205 to 236 lbs.

I realized I needed to do something when I saw my vacation pictures. Pictures don't lie. I have been shocked into action. I look forward to soon looking at new pictures of myself and being shocked in a positive way!

I look forward to talking to you all. Hopefully we can motivate each other. God bless.

Tony
