Sadly, I need to leave my gym. It's just too expensive. But guess what I found this weekend- a Bowflex at a garage sale for $10 dollars! Its certainly an ancient model, but it works properly. I never get lucky like that!

I want to invest in a used Cardio Machine. I know I would make use of it if it were in my home. Ellipticals at the gym have always been my favorite and I last longer on them than I ever would on a treadmill. But, seeing as I need a new direction in my most serious need for weightloss yet, I would love advice as to which machine is best for weight loss and long term use: joints/motion/whether impact should be a concern/. Perhaps elliptical is too limited if it is your main cardio weight loss tool?

I know you might say, "elliptical" since I said that's what I love to do- but I would use whichever equipment regardless. (ideally, I'd love both- but I must pick one)

If this helps: I am only a walker, light jogger on a treadmill.

I appreciate your thoughts!

Sometimes it's like any other problem- you can't tackle it until you're really ready. When I logged on to traineo the other day it was a surprising reality check to see the graph mapping my weight gain. What?! And now you're looking at my graph aren't you? That wasn't a bright idea to bring attention to it...

Well, when I was committed to traineo before, it was quite helpful. Members' advice and stories were so motivating. I couldn't believe my eyes- those same people have continued to shrink and they should be proud of their ability to keep going!

I want to join the Traineo community again. I know for many of you that the process of losing weight has become an art form and I'll enjoy hearing about your successes in the forums. So hello to all of you at Traineo again!

I need your support in an unconventional way! I had put off fitness and my passions for too long- now I'm back for both.

This is a Contest for an iPhone App called "We Rule". Submissions could include hidden talents or something about the We Rule game itself. I wrote a parody of the song "Umbrella" and it is about aspects of the game. The prize is an iPod (I want to give it to my mom so she can have it to exercise with!)

Thank you for all of your replies. Yes, Kathy- I also hold my weight in my hips and thighs but I agree, it backwards when people avoid working their legs- its the best way to burn calories!

Do you all bike everyday? Or treat it a bit like strength training and skip a day...

It was probably different for all of you, but did you find that you built a lot of muscle mass in your thighs when you began?
I think everyone on traineo mentions inches against lbs as the best way to measure healthy success, and I agree just am curious about bikers anatomy and experience with muscle growth. I started biking on trails during the past month and so far it has remained a constant on the scale even with conscious calorie counting etc.

Yay! I've been biking on a trail now that the weather's so great. Let's hope I stay on my own 'trail' towards reaching my weight-loss goal. Dare I make a commitment here? Yikes! I'm gonna do it... I would like to lose another lb by next Thurs. Here I go to 143.

It was not my goal to 'find' some of the pounds I lost, but I know exactly how they got there. Luckily, I found my way back to the gym more regularly this week and I was reminded how good exercise feels. Sometimes I need to be reminded.
