Alright first off thanks to Justa Xfitter, thats all I really need to hear. And to you kiwi dave and others. "Not posted as a question" Dude look at the fkn title. My God. As stated it's not meant to be bragging, far out, I just simply didnt get why I eat so much junk and was thin. That was it and you answered, you dont need to put words in my mouth saying I was bragging; Additionally saying I don't exercise, uh yeah how do you know that? I go to the gym on my days off work, which is around 3 times a week doing cardio and weights. My work habits itself? well might be hard to believe but about 3-4 days a week i'm putting away a truckload for a delivery lifting 11 odd kg repetitively and moving it. So don't. Honostly, if you're gonna reply with something rude then don't reply at all, I'd rather not read it cause in actualy fact I just skimmed most of the questions except for the people who were "answering" the question in a nice way, not rudley. So mate, save yourself some time, don't spend 5 or so odd minutes replying to this because I won't read it. I have been on traineo for a long time, I know alot of members on here which most arent as active, but they know how long ive been here and we've all had good chats. I'm sure if they read these posts they'd be suprised at some of the replies I've gotten seeming that traineo is also focused around support
But thanks to those few who just respected this question/dilemma. I wont be replying here anymore because all I can see it's gonna be aruging.

Well this is nice to hear, thanks guys. I feel alot better. All I was saying, which was an honost question, is that eating unhealthy generally makes people big. But i'm not. I'm not saying don't eat vegetables, not at all. I eat them, but rarely. I've had all my cholestorol checked out, blood pressure, and test for diabeties, and it showed up fine. I am not "gloating" that yeah I can eat unhealthy and be thin, it was a confused question because I simply didn't get why. If you eat to much you get big and then have health problems, if I don't eat enough I get health problems. Catch 22. I'm a decent weight.
There was no need for anyone to just go at me like that. Someone could have nicely said (though some did) "hey well you might look good, thats alright, but later on in life because you don't eat that many healhy foods you could get health problems".
Not: "If all you care about is whether or not you look fat, do what you want"
"But it's your choice. You want to risk high blood pressure which can lead up to a heart attack by the time you're forty or if you want to risk cholesterol or diabetes, go right ahead. I, for one, do not. I'm going to eat my veggies."
"What you said is the same as someone bragging that they don't brush their teeth but don't have cavities."
In a nutshell: I'm not against healthy eating. I am a workaholic and usually only eat fast food, but not much of it - as I don't eat much. If I feel like eating healthy then I will for sure. If i'm having a nice dinner with veggies and fruit then I eat it happily

that shouldn't matter unless I eat more. If i'm burning off the same amount of calories that i'm eating then that doesnt lead to weight gain. If anything im still gradually losing weight. All that was without going to the gym. Now I do go to the gym to tone up. All my life i've been one to just eat junkfood, there was a time where I was "content" because of a relationship and put on about 8 kg or so, and lost it in the end. But I knew I was eating alot then, and dont want to end up like that again. So i'll be trying my best.

Hi guys,
I've been looking at posts and alot of people are saying that when they eat healthy they can lose weight. Yes no doubt that is true. But my diet simply consists of junk food. However, I don't eat ALOT of it. I don't eat the complete meals a day. As in, instead of say having breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I usually snack on something throughout the day. I work at a fast food resturant, and I could have a burger and not really eat much else in the day. I'm about 50kg.
I know it's not good for you, but i'm thin. At the time I didn't do alot of exercises, but I suppose working alot and rushing around might help lose a bit of weight.
I'm just not keen on healthy food, and I think, why go healthy when I look fine the way I am now, and can still eat what I want. Isn't that a good thing? I have alot of those vitamin waters, and protien shakes when I go to the gym. So it's not like i'm not getting those things the body needs.

but yeah I don't get it. wikipedia also says acceptable is what 25-31? Usually acceptable is a decent amount of fat on a girl, right? Not like all those pictures everyone has posted.... they do seem alot less body fat wise. I've seen alot of people with 25% bf, and you can't see their stomach like in those pics.
At my gym, I had it done 3 different times with different people, all are professional, going by pictures and graphs and what not over there. (Using calipers of course)

Hi guys, nah my first photo was professionally taken bf percentage wise. It was 25%. Afterwards I got down to 21-25%, I was alot thinner.
Point to consider - Though they say I am 16-18% body fat now, I am but only 48 kg (or 105.6 pounds). So it isn't really that big. I haven't worked out my stomach at all, usually arms and legs. I might still look a little big but thats due to muscle. I am fairly toned in the arms. Compared to that picture you posted of a girl who is suppoosed to be at 18.5% bf.
I watched them take the measurements at the gym, and according to the guide they use it was on the spot.
Cause i'm just thinking, as I said my weight is fairly low, and I do have a fair bit of muscle tone (just not stomach but it is really thin) so it doesnt make sense that I would be in a higher bf range? You know what I mean?

Indeed men usually are higher now a days, as Angie said. I started off at 25% body fat (female), but I didn't look too big. I was 62 kilograms, 136 pounds I think it is. Now i'm down to "16-18%" body fat, and im about 49 kilograms now. Haha long story to how I lost my weight, but i'm happy because I reached my goal. Has been to get under 20% body fat for a few years now. I don't look anerexic, As I do have a bit of muscle which is good. But yeah if you're around you're twenties in Body fat girls, you should be happy with that! I read on wikipedia (under body fat percentage) that women athelets are 14-20, fitness is 21-24, acceptable is 25-31.
Still i imagine that 25-31... well getting towards 31 would be a little bit more than "acceptable". But it's not bad. So yeah I dunno.

I was all for that kinda stuff too, when I started out back in 2007-08 I wanted to know my body fat, and didnt like looking at the scales because it didn't tell me whether I was losing fat ... or gaining fat or gaining muscle. So I went to all those online things, uh I don't think it's something to go by because it's so variable. Some that I went to said I was about 25%. When I actually went to the gym and got it professionally done I was about 25%. But yeah, I wouldnt follow it. If you look at yourself and you see you might have a fair bit of fat that, and I mean a fair bit, then the site says you're about 23%, then I wouldnt follow it.
Trust me though, I know how you could want to know your body fat so much and not want to go to the gym. In the end though I joined a gym and that was one of the first things I did so I was happy.
Sorry bout the ranting and raving, but thats my two cents

Lifting weights at the gym. Do you think i'm lifting good size weights?

Ohh ok thanks for the tips. Yeah well I dunno, I just thought, if I lift more weight than other chicks (which I see at the gym it's usually really low) I think that I should be getting bigger muscles. While it is hard for me to lift, and the pain the next day is terrible - which means it's worked haha.
But yeah I do have other additions. I did the deadlifts (I think I did it wrong... I just held it at my waist and then lifted it up to my chest area then back down, as if shrugging the shoulders) I was meant to do 40 kg doing that, but only did 25 I think by mistake. After thinking about how hard it was though doing 5 x 5 with that weight I dont think I could have managed with 40. I also did bench presses, overhead presses and inverted rows - man they killed. Haha.
Anyway thanks again for your help

Yeah indeed, I did have protein shakes but am currently out. So i'll be getting more tomorrow. Do I only need to take protien shakes after a workout or also on my days off?
I really don't eat that much either. You see i'm not usually a heatlhy eater, yes yes yes I know its all bad. But say I only eat KFC (because I work there) and even then its only a burger and that would last me all day. I wouldnt really eat anything else, only maybe a bar of chocolate. And yes I'm thin because I don't eat that much. Now i'm wondering, .. I need to eat more to gain more muscle right? Or would the protien shakes just do? Because I fear that if I get into the habit of eating more then if I stop at the gym (which could happen) I will keep eating heaps - and junk food at that. I find salads don't fill me up, no matter how much I eat. But it's a long reasonable story. Anyway I was just hoping that maybe having protien shakes included then everyday would help and hopefully I wont have to increase my meal intake too much if all.

Hiya everyone.
This has been one of my many attempts to start the stronglifts program. This time i'm finally at the gym and am making a solid effort. I did my second session today, while I am not looking for results straight away, I was just wondering if it would be possible to see more muscle tone after a month doing 3 days a week. I'm 55 kg, so i'm rather thin as is and do have more muscle already than the average female.
So what do you'se think?

Hi all thanks for the suggestions. Yes I have heard about the Stronglifts program and have attempted to do it twice now. Once when I wasn't at the gym (failed because I didnt have a barbell), second time when I went with a friend but she stopped going and basicly didnt get a chance to start.
I dunno about over where you'se all are, but here the guys seem stuck up and always with their mates haha. So I guess i'll be doing the squats in the freerange, with empty bar and work my way up, however with the bench press I'll do in the smith machine. My brother in law is a personal trainer and he said yes it isnt as good but it does the job, thats all I need. As for the overhead press... i'm a little scared about that one, I mean obviously as the weights get heavier it's gonna get harder to do it. But I think as I read you could do stronglifts with just the squat, so if in the end I fail, don't have a squat, then I'll deload.... and probebly stop because I don't want to injure myself.
One other question, usually if I'm say doing an overhead press, I feel like the barbell is gonna fall behind me, is that a sign of too much weight? Ive only done it once. I've been trying to practise correct form and have checked out youtube videos to see how to do it all correctly.
Also I think I need a suggestion for the squats. You know how the barbell rests on the powerrack, and you can do squats multiple ways? First time I done it I put my head under the bar and let it rest on the back of my neck. It felt really awkward to put it back and take it off. I think on the front of my chest would be even harder, particularly when I have more weight on there.
With the strong lifts program I know males can lift alot more, but How much should females be able to lift after the end of 3 months, isn't it just 1 x body weight?? or 1.5 x body weight. Because that means I'd be lifting 55-82 kg. That's .... alot I think, for me.

Lifting weights at the gym. Do you think i'm lifting good size weights?
Exercise & Training Tips

Posted: July 03, 2009
Hi there,
I just started taking notes at the gym of what weight i'm actually lifting to see my progress. Do you think they're good so far? I wanna bulk up a bit and get toned to be a good lookin chick. I don't mind a fair bit of muscle.
Unilateral Seated Shoulder Press: 15kg
Unilateral Seated Chest Press: 25kg
Pec Deck: 15kg
Seated Leg Press: 100kg
Donkey Calf: 60kg
I'm female, 5 foot 3. 55 kg, and 21% body fat.
I really want to get better upper body strength but it's rather hard compared to the legs as the legs obviously can lift more weight. So i've started off really light with the upper body machines hoping to get better. I do around 3 reps of 15 if I can make it. I don't do the freeweights just yet because I go on my own and I don't have someone to spot me. I'm still afraid to ask someone. And I don't wanna be lifting just the bar because it's embarrasing so I'll wait a bit until I get stronger.
So what do you'se think, good? No good? Any suggestions?
Regards,
Sianlee

How Much Sugar Can One Have In A Day?
Diet & Nutrition Tips
|
Posted: July 28, 2008
It has actually been noted that people whigh high-sugar diets lose more fat than people who eat high-fat diets. As sugar is a form of carb, which is 4 cals per gram, fat is 9 cals per gram. It has also been proven that people who have a high suger diet eat less high-fat diets.
Everything is good for you in moderation. But I know myself, I eat sugar more than high fatty foods.... I'm not really big. And I eat alot.

Well when I am stressed I find that I sit there and do nothing. As in watch TV because I am so angry and think "F it... i'm not doing anything today". Next thing when tomorrow comes or later on that day when I usually don't do any work I think "I should have done something, now I feel really guilty and i'm behind".
Once again, another great quote

Thanks everyone for your replies once again, you're all a real inspiration.
Dean, I love the quotes you say, they really do help me and I should really write them up.
I know I should only tackle one goal at a time but during that time you're stressed out you just... can't think at all. You're simply overwhelmed and angry.
Every morning I wake up now i'm trying to procrastinate.. simply trying to avoid my university work because I know i've got to do it. I keep trying to put it off to another day because its so hard to do. When I started this term (im three weeks in) I was all hyped and ready to work. I don't know what happened. I'm a little shamed about it.
Anyway, thanks guys for the responses, I just gotta get onto my studies.

I thought i'd come on here because right now this is the only place positive energy is still felt.
I've had an aweful week, I haven't been able to be doing my University work, and when I tried to now the modelling program i'm using is f***ing up. I gotta work 5 days this week, all at night time, which has put a downer on my days (because im doing studies at college usually i'm only working 3 days a week because of my workload, but now it's 5 this week for money).
It's been raining outside all week and when it rains I just feel miserable, I don't know why.
I haven't been training and my eating habits again have gone haywire!
I just feel like dropping everything. I don't know why i'm like this but im in such a down in the rut kinda feeling.
I don't know what to do
The 'Just Do It' phrase isn't working on me right now, when 99% of the times it does. My reaction to it is my voice yelling inside me: "I'M NOT DOING IT TODAY I DON'T FEEL LIKE IT!!!" ... O_O

Yeah it seems that the only good thing about the iphone is the interface, when I looked at the reasons not to get one I was like "Yeah take that apple".
Personally, I hate apple. Why? Because I like the Zune. But here in Australia the Zune hasn't and probebly won't be released because Microsoft is a pain in the butt. I liked the Zune better than the iPod, I was sooo sick of hearing iPod this, iPod that... and then with all these new functions like incorporating learning lessons for kids in school through the iPod im thinking "oh cmon, gimme a break". So I prefered the alternative, and I always liked Microsoft and the Zune captured my heart. Unformationaly I can't capture the Zune because Microsoft just doesn't wanna release it worldwide, or talk about it. It's only avalbile in the US and Canada.
Anyway, I heard that there was a Zune Phone perhaps in the making, now that would be sweet.
The main reason too why I wouldn't want to get the iPhone is, not because it sux, but because it IS so dang expensive. Considering it doesnt offer you many things that I would use, the simple things, like songs for ringtones, a camera that can customize, video recording, and say picture messages.... I mean wtf?
I dont surf the web on my phone, but by the looks of the iPhone, it doesnt really want you to either :P (see the flash support)

This is chips that you deep fry btw, not potato chips as in a bag of chips that you sit there and eat in front of the TV.
So as in I get a big pack of frozen potato chips and throw some in the deep fryer.
I dont see why it's so bad for you since it's cooked in a healthy fat?
I will need to look how many calories next time.

Question about deep fried chips?
Healthy Recipes & Treats
|
Posted: July 18, 2008
The reason why deep fried chips are bad for you is because it's cooked in fat, right?
But nowadays theres alternative fats like canoloa oil. Isn't that better for you?
I was just wondering because even though i'm trying to eat healthy, theres often nothing in the house that the parents buy which are really healthy and can have as a main dish. (Such as chicken breats etc, its mainly veggies and such).
What I just want to know is, is it ok then to have deep fried chips a few times a week if its cooked in canoloa oil, (and when you buy them frozen the comany that makes them says it was cooked in that oil).
If its not healthy, can someone please elobrate.
