Yes.. ditto what Zachary wrote. I don't know what your height/weight statistics are.,but 1000 calories is very little food.. that is how much I should eat and I feel hungry when I stick to that.

Jen,
I just posted, but I think it was a bit long. Here is mine
I am going to plan my meals better and continue to keep talking to my children about good nutrition and promote healthy eating habits at home by being a good role model. I enjoy exercising and want to transfer the joy to my husband and children. I hope to inspire people around me with my smile, optimism, positive outlook and physical vitality.

Cardio before yoga?
Training Routines
|

I don't see any problem. In fact, your muscles are all warmed up with a cardio session that you get into poses easier in Yoga and will feel more flexible. I like to do Yoga primarily as a stretch componen to my running and I think doing it after your cardio serves the stretching purpose also.

Sorry gus and gals. I did not read the whole thread.
Alisha: You may well not have gotten your RHR if you were at your desk.
Haiving said that there are people who are genetically prone to have high resting heart rates.
Running Try CC. Hey, if you have good endurance, who cares. Run, cycle, row, whatever..
Perhaps you shoudl try running at a slower speed ( dunno. I hate running slow, I need to go high, get the zing, then recover slow and then go back up..that is my personality).

Tom: Hi!
Yes, I love V6 with Candace. It has lot of sprints and I love sprints.
And wowee.. yes, it kicks your butt..
And Candace is very motivational too.
BTW, if you don't have V6-Sean you should get it, it is a totally different workout..same music ( not necessarily in the same order), but the workout is totally different.
I don't do what Tom says.. the picture and HR etc. I do wear a HRM now, but since I am training for a half marathjon, I am trying to run at slower speeds needed for the longer run.

Quoting: nutmegs23 clearly they become challenging, just wasn't sure about starting with #1 or not. thanks!

I would not say #1 is easy, simply because the way it works is that you choose your speeds. But since you do seem to be looking for an advanced workout, I suggest the longer workouts, 5 or 6. They are a little under 60 minutes, but since it comes in several tracks, you can easily make it shorter.
V4 is the most challenging according to many people as it has very short recovery times between intervals, but that was the volume that got me completely hooked into Cardiocoach ( though the first challenge in Press Play is a killer). If I do not have motivation to run, I don't flip around on my nano to check which workout I should use, I just hit CCV4.. because it works for me every single time.
3 and 4 are challenging but shorter. Revised 1 and 2 are absolutely delightful. Oh yes, I am crazy about these workouts.
Actually, Vrinda describes it here
http://www.traineo.com/12_422_0.html
BTW, there are detailed breakdowns on the website. For eg.,

Quoting: nutmegs23 I wish it gave a little more of a description because I already do *some* type of intervals in most of my cardio- whether using the machine settings, or 3 min/2 min fast run/walk on the treadmill, and I am excercising for 40 minutes total. I don't want to shell out $15 for something that is going to end up not being challenging. Neat idea, though. Thanks!
Megan,
I used to use CC all the time before with a HR monitor. IMHO, it is not essential, at least I derived great enjoyment from these workouts without a HRM. HRM may of course make it better for you, for me initially it just sucked the joy out of running. Because my HR goes up only when I sprint at 7mph and I cannot sustain that for long.
Well, to answer your question about shelling out $15, two things to consider
1. If you don't like it, they have a 100% refund policy.
2. The detailed breakdowns for the workouts are all given under each workout
The only thing is that you really have to use it when you exercise, just listening to it does not work..
These workouts are really awesome.. give it a try!
You can also buy the one hour workouts and do just 40 minutes as the workout is broken down in clean tracks, warm up, stady state, challenge1, 2,3, etc, and cooldown.

What keeps YOU running?? (cardio in general)
Motivation Tips

ALso I agree with Heather. I started running outdoors because you just do it, you have to get back home right? I now run about 9 miles. I cannot do that on treadmill. I leave my cell phone behind as I am afraid I will call my husband half way and ask him to give me a ride back. Seriously, outdoor running is so much more fun than treadmill. I still need music though and I steady state out of exhaustion, I never start out "steady state"ing. I don't think it is a good thing to do, but this is what works for me.

Runnning without music is very hard for me. I keep trying because I want to lose the headphones habit. I also dislike steady-state running. IF you are willing to put back your headphones on,
then check out http://www.cardiocoach.com
I am absolutely nuts about these workouts.

HIIT
Training Routines
|
Posted: February 12, 2007
Personally, I became consistent with exercising only because of HIIT. I love elevated heart rates and steady state running was boring to death for me. I HIIT 2 or 3x a week with Cardio Coach. Amongst aerobics videos, I prefer Step just because it kept my HR elevated. OF course, regular floor aerobics can also elevate HR, but it is easier to cheat to a lower intensity with that. With the step, just jumping on and off the step was enough to keep my endorphins flowing. But as with everything else, HIIT has to be done in moderation.. not more than 3X a week.
As far as fat loss, I cannot tell because it is very dependent on what you eat.
And I don't eat clean

I suggest you check out Cardio coach workouts from www.cardiocoach.com or iclimb workouts from www.itrain.com
( Cardiocoach works well because you can do a lot of hill climbs even though it is a cardio workout, same the case with iclimb).
I think for lower body toning, you need to emphasize on squats, lunges and other kinds of work. I will leave it to the experts to guide you.
I think your weight is pretty good, so you can have less emphasis on cardio and more on toning ( be careful with eating habits though), perhaps more emphasis on toning..
itrain has circuit workouts which are absolutely fantastic. If needed, I can point you to specific workouts.
