I've always been an active person and weight was never a concern until I hit 35 or so. My diet tends to be "mostly" good and based upon whole foods but if I get started on the junk one day, have the very wrong philosophy of "I blew it anyway, so I'll eat what I want and start again tomorrow." WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
The biggest difference in my weight comes down to whether or not I run. In the summer, when I'm not working, I start off each day with exercise and tend to be in the best shape. Once the school year (and football season) starts, my exercise falls off and I tend to gain.
Right now, I'm committing to doing something every day have recently started walking to and from work a few days a week to squeeze some "functional" exercise into my busy schedule. (2.5 miles each way) Once the weather finally cooperates, I'll start running in the neighborhood on days when I don't get the work commute in.
