I haven't given up! I am still working this program and have lost 3 lbs so far. I just wanted to let you all know I'm not going to be on Traineo. I was trying out both this place and Sparkpeople and I really like all the stuff on that site. SO since I found an I Can Make You forum over there, I am going to say bye bye here.

I wish you all the best and keep using the 4 golden!! It works!

Yay Cathie!

I am still in awe that I've had leftovers more than ever in my life. I was always a clean-the-plate type. It's liberating isn't it??

Secondly, I do still stand by my comments, and these ARE based on experience, I've followed his tips/information etc and have found as a weight loss/lifestyle change it just doesn't cut it, however this is not to say that it doesn't have merits in other area's, I particularly feel that the whole positive thinking and visualisation techniques are sound. Anyways, I'll remove myself from the discussion before I go upsetting anyone else, but good luck with your goals, and I hope it's a success for anyone trying to follow it!

Thanks Colin. I am totally ok with you standing by your comments; I would only hope for that. It's good to know you tried this and your experience wasn't all you hoped for. Everyone wants to know opinions and feedback when they're trying to find what's going to work.

I am posting tonight to say we are (obviously) all different people who all respond to different things. I'm with Carol K

been on just about every diet plan

...have tried it all.

Have paid $ have spent time, and have lost it before - losing it hasn't been my problem; keeping it off - ding!* There's my struggle.

I just went out to dinner with our friend in from Canada. He was buying and said, "order what you want" and he meant it. I used everything I have learned (in just two 47 min shows by some UK guy in a cool suit) and I not only ordered less than I would have (c'mon someone is buying?)

I ate 1/2 much as I would have... and oh my, I have a doggy bag leftover for lunch. What is that? leftovers?

At this point, if I never lose any wt from the 4 golden rules but rather, I enjoy my eating life (and it doesn't haunt me like it used to, no joke)... well that is COOL!!

Glad you mentioned that suesue, as my next question was going to be, "why are you in this group if you don't agree with its ideals?"

Thanks for letting me know!

Why entertain the temptation in the first place? Why worry about eating it slowly, when you could just not eat it and avoid the general badness that pizza brings?

Ok, first of all - while I appreciate your thoughts on me never eating pizza - the REALITY is that in my lifetime I WILL come across many events that involve pizza. I have never in my life been able to sitdown and just enjoy 1 or 2 pieces. Pizza is my end-all-be-all favorite food. I'm not going to imagine the rest of my life "avoiding the general badness".

Me learning to appreciate the pizza and only have a slice now and then, rather than being in a pizza eating contest with myself - is a huge thing.

Also, I am not going into this thinking I'm going to lose weight eating pizza as a main staple!! get over it. I exercise, I'm drinking my water, I'm putting brakes on my need to overeat.

AND to all - Sorry to report that my friend called and wasn't feeling well so we've tabled pizza night to Friday... and YES I plan to eat it slowly and enjoy every bite.

Tonight my friend is coming over and wants pizza. This is my biggest trigger!! It will be the ultimate challenge of the golden rules. If I can eat this slowly, I can eat ANYTHING slowly.

Hi I'm Elle, previously L, and am on day 8 of this program. I need and want to lose 20 lbs that I gained since meeting, and marrying my wonderful husband who is a chef!!

I like many aspects of McKennas program, but most of all - I immediately made a change in the speed of my speed-eating! I also like that it can settle issues we have at home, where my husband wants to cook amazing meals and I can still eat them - just not at the speed and size as I have been.

I hope this works and we all keep it up and post, and encourage each other.

On an exercise note, I started Dec 26 2007, back on track on the exercise thing after a few years of being complacent. I do yoga, weight training, and anything that has a fun factor.
1 week in, so far so good but no weight lost

Hi, this is L the OP, but I'm now Elle

Somehow I managed to hose my account, and waited all day for a password to be sent; saw on another board that they don't send them and most have had to open a new account. If they ever send it I'll close the first one.

Anyway, I agree with measurements and I'm going to give the scale a rest. I'm just going to roll with it and ignore that pesky scale.

I didn't get a ton from the emotional eating episode, except the inspiration from the guy who lost all that weight. I don't really eat when I'm emotional, I just love eating. lol. Love = emotion. Hey wait a minute!!

I had some leftover Thai food tonight, and the soup was challenging to chew

Yes, leftovers... seem to have many of those this week.
