Anyone have suggestions on good free streaming aerobics videos that work on the wii (i.e. flash 7 or earlier at the moment since flash 8 and 9 don't work on wii yet as Adobe hasn't released the dev kit for 8 or 9 so Opera/Nintendo haven't upgraded the wii's capabilities yet). The last few days I've been doing googles to try to find some good free stuff to do aerobic exercises in front of the wii. Wii Boxing is awesome, and I'm sure wii fit will be fantastic when we get it, but I'm wanting to get a few more free options on what I can do through the internet channel. I think the main reason I lost interest in the gym and all those workout videos and tapes we have collecting dust is that the same old routine got boring for me. The wii is awesome, and I love working out with it, but want as many options on possible workouts to do with it as possible so that somewhere down the road I don't lose interest. I love the fact that you can surf the internet. I'm just needing to find places on the internet to do workouts now...
A lot of my googles so far keep bringing up podcast stuff. That's not what I'm after. I could get that stuff and copy it over to a dvd, but that's not what I'm looking for here... I want free streaming workouts and want it to work on the wii... I know this stuff is out there, just a matter of finding the urls...
So far I've found this:

Anyone find similar stuff?

Wii Fitness Games

On May 12th the wiiware channel opens in the USA.... While there may not be a lot of fitness stuff on there the possibilities are endless... why, well, all that's needed to make a game is a developer kit from Nintendo, which I've read is about 2k, and a game... as far as the "game" part goes, Torque can work since they've made a wii package for it for people with dev kits. I'm no developer but am a little in to the game making community and have been for a long while now (I have Lightwave and several other 3d applications, Torque Game Engine, and lots of other little toys, and hang out on 3dbuzz.com, cgtalk.com, and several other bigtime forums aimed at the game making community since I wanted to become a developer a few years ago but never found the time to train myself to be at the level needed to actually produce a game)... Basically, what all this means in simple terms is that indie game development is going to be happening on a wide scale in the not too distant future and so I imagine it's just a matter of time til we see all sorts of games show up. Any game makers out there, I'm waiting for your awesome fitness games. Lets get a realistic Climbing Mt. Everest wii game or something out there!

Walking or Jogging mp3 workouts?
Training Routines

Anyone have any suggestions on where to find good free mp3 workout routines for just plain ol walking or running around outside? My wife and I carpool to work and unfortunately our hours are different by a few hours. I work from 8-5 most days and she works 10-7 most days, so she has about 2 hours to kill in the morning and I do at night. I'm a bit of an artist so have been using that spare time every day to do sketches, sculpey modeling and taking digital texture photos around the city to later upload on turbosquid for a little profit... but I'm thinking it might be the perfect time to do a little 30 minute workout or something just walking around the blocks or jogging or something. Probably walking more than jogging since I probably won't have time to change out of my work clothes (I work in an office). I'm already walking on my two 15 minute breaks at work and doing a 30 minute wii routine at night. This would be a little add on to all of that. I'm looking for either some light little mp3 type routine that would work well on an mp3 cd player... probably something aerobic since I wouldn't have any excercise equipment with me other than myself. Pushups would also be a bad idea since it's a pretty dirty city and I don't want to put my hands on the sidewalks. Same issue with setups. going up and down stairs might work though since there's a parking garage nearby that has a stair well in it...

I love the wii. Sure, it's no gym... but if you do something like the wii boxing for 30-60 minutes a day and you are doing that at the time that you would normally be watching the tv, it's got to help. Personally, just seeing the wii sitting on top of the tv while being in the living room at a time that I normally would be watching tv is motivation enough for me to jump in to using it instead of wasting time on dumb tv shows, movies, and other junk like that. Plus, it's cheaper than a gym... and with the wii fit you can measure you weight and stuff and it logs all that kind of stuff on a daily log for... which is way better than trying to write it all down yourself. Also, I don't know about you, but playing the wii is something I can get way in to more than some darn dvd workout thing thats the same exact workout every time you push play. My fear is that the wii will eventually become like another fad and be like tll those dvd workouts that everyone was so in to a few years ago... but I suspect that it's interactive enough that that won't happen.

another tip is to walk while on your morning and afternoon breaks. I'm doing that now and love it. Those extra 15 minutes of walking, even if not at a fast pace are a few extra calories burners that are nice to have. Also it breaks up the day a bit. It also keeps me away from one of my worst habbits, surfing the internet and reading msnbc and slashdot while on break. News is news, and it's typically bad news if it's getting reported... better to get a healthy positive outlook by walking instead of getting a downer through the internet.

Can't lose weight...

Measure exactly how many calories are in all that you are eating. Sometimes some things can trick you in to thinking it's low calorie when in fact it's not. Also watch the sodium levels. Canned things like Tuna typically have to have high levels of sodium to keep them preserved, which can lead to other issues besides weight loss, such as increasing blood pressure. If you do find your bp is higher than it should be (check at a walmart or something) a modification of the dash diet is a good idea... and that can be modified to work with weight loss too.... For instance, maybe go with fresh fish that's cooked instead of canned tuna, etc. I'm not sure on fat contents or calorie content in peanut butter and bagel, but knowing that might help. Some people that used to be on Atkins type diets hate breads of any kind. I'm not sure that's a good or safe idea, but they do say that the extra carbs in bread products like bagels can have some effects on weight loss. I don't know about all that since you need to eat a balanced meal. Biggest thing is to make the calories going in be less than the calories you are burning in workouts and stuff. You might just be gaining muscle weight since you are doing so much weight training? Maybe alter that to be more cardio like... for instance keep doing the weight bench but lower the weights that you are putting on there and increase the reps.

All the stores (best buy, target, walmart, circuit city, and a few others) we checked out were sold out real quick... but we finally got lucky and my wife checked one place that a lot of people looking didn't think to look... Toys R Us. I guess most people looking don't have kids or just didn't think about looking there. Thankfully we got did, and it worked out. We also did the preorder for wiifit there. Walmart.com has a bundle that you can buy for almost 600 bucks, but that includes 4 games and their selection isn't that great... or at least not if you plan on staying to the sub 300 price range and don't want to spend the equivalent of 40-50 bucks on a game that will probably drop to 15.00 by next year. What's funny is walmart does ONLY the bundle online... and in real stores they only sell the unbundled... In other words they know that there's a shortage and are using their monopoly powers to cheat people out of money by almost forcing them to do the bundle. I suspect lots of people will go for the bundle and then ebay off the parts they want... pretty sneaky.... Darn monopoly...

Why does everyone and their monkey want to post their personal info out there for the world to read. If you read 2600 Hacker mag, you know what I'm talking about... Why the world do people all of a sudden think it's cool to let everyone and their dog know about all your personal thoughts, ideas, and everything, and freely give away all their privacy rights? Just look at the recent stuff going on... Google is driving down streets all over the place putting people's addresses out there for the world to see along with a picture of the nice shiny car they drive that sits either on the driveway or in the street in front of the house... all the telcos helped Bush illegally tap telephones and are continuing to do it... folks in Washington want isps to store everything about everyone for a long period of time so that they can start looking back and tracking people. It's starting to get spooky around here. I read the other day on slashdot that some scientists are working on new gizmos that can read brain patterns and stuff... We are literally only years away from there being no such thing as privacy... we'll live our entire lives under watchful eye of cameras like the Truman Show... we already do just about.

We preordered one. One question... are any of the games about "stomping" or anything. I'm below the weight limit I think, but not by much. I'd suspect that too much jumping around may damage the board??? I know that the original NES controllers were nearly impossible to totally kill no matter how much they got banged up. I'm hoping the board is similar...

The Wii Workout

I just got a wii 2 days ago. My wife and I are practicing it a lot and we preordered a wii fit. Wii love the wii!
I've read about all these wii training programs and am going to try to do half an hour to an hour a night myself every night. It's so much easier for us couch potatoes to get in to something like this then it is to go to the gym, or if you are like us, even to go downstairs to the weight benches. If you plop down in front of the tv and see that wii sitting there you just want to jump up and hop on it. The sight of it sitting on top of the tv stand is a constant reminder to get in to it.
We have managed to change our eating habbits and are eating better. We have crazy schedules and were eating out a lot enjoying the fast of fast food... NO MORE!
Also, I am now walking with my aunt who works in the same building I do on my two 15 minute morning and afternoon breaks at work. That has helped a lot, but I was low on motivation to do much more than that til my wife got to talking to her best friend who got a wii a couple weeks back and that got her inspired to get it, so she quickly talked me in to it, and I'm glad she did.
I love the boxing since it's the high calorie burner out of the wii sports pack.. but how the heck do you control the left hand? I'm still new to this whole thing and have trouble "aiming" with the tennis, bowling and golf... I guess practice makes perfect... my very poor performance in aiming that bowling ball got me a wii fitness age of 71 today, the first time that I tried that out. I'm an old geezer til I figure this thing out I guess...
