Need supplement recommendation

Cytosport Whey Protein is pretty good stuff. It's the best tasting that I've found so far. I'd actually consider it a decent sub to chocolate milk.

Asparagus gets mentioned a lot around here. I might have to try that and then get some peppers.

Post your favorite veggies for all to see.
Some of us (meaning mostly me) don't eat enough of 'em, and it's time to start. I'll probably go buy whichever veggie is mentioned the most today at Kroger. |

ISAGENIX?
Diet Plans |
This thread should have been dead by now...
Observation: The proponents of Isagenix are mostly newbies. Meaning someone might be creating additional fake accounts. In fact, I bet this is the case since most of them have no info on their profiles besides a picture. |

Lessons learned in the past 2 weeks
Diet & Nutrition Tips |
Having just moved into a house with some friends of mine I've made several discoveries about the "real world" and my abilities as a single bachelor out on my own.
1.) I never learned how to cook. Yep, never paid attention when Mom made the meals. Now it seems like an art that I need to pick up. 2.) I have neither the time nor the patience to fix up complicated meals (During the weekdays anyway. Being able to cook for the ladies would always be cool). When I want to eat it better be a 5 minute project. Being in college and working full-time leaves no time to mess around. 3.) I have no idea what I'm looking for when I go to the grocery store on my own. This has gotten better after a few trips but I'm still searching for the foods that make up a healthy diet. Things that work: - Cooking up 5 or 6 skinless chicken breasts at once and then putting them into a container for the week. Almost instant chicken sandwiches whenever I call upon them. Very tasty and protein-packed. - Turkey sandwiches - Not as tasty as chicken but the protein is a plus. - Fat-free yogurt - An excellent snack that you can take anywhere. Less than 100 calories and it can kill that sweet tooth at times. It's also dirt cheap... <50 cents per cup. - Fruits and veggies on call - I recently bought a dozen apples in a bag for ~$4. Now I can have a natural snack instead of eating something unhealthy or binging on some chips. Salads are a good side dish on any occassion as well. - More tuna cans than my cupboard has room for - Not tasty and I'm starting to get tired of tuna...but it's loaded with protein, easy to prepare and fairly cheap. Things that don't work: - Getting fast food with the excuse that I don't have anything at home I want to eat. If anything, I should go to Krogers and get some healthy stuff I do want to eat. It's right down the street. - Weight watchers/Lean Cuisine/single frozen meals. Let's face it, I don't want to spend $2-3 per frozen 400 calorie meal. There are better things out there. - Living on beer. The college kid in me dreams of such a wonderful lifestyle, but sadly it's just not plausible. |

Might have to start getting eggs then. I'm sure it's full of protein as well.

ISAGENIX?
Diet Plans |
Kane-
I merely contend that there are healthy alternatives that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. If someone has enough discipline to follow an Isagenix plan then they should have enough discipline to just throw out the junk food and stick to healthy food and hit the gym a couple times a week. I don't think it would "hurt" to use Isagenix but it doesn't make much financial sense to me. So it goes. I believe that a lot of Traineo users (including myself) are tired of people trying to market products on here. The marketing schemes already infest the search engines and late-night tv commercials. This is supposed to be a forum for open discussion and advice, not a place for business. |

I like eggs, but aren't they high in fat as well? |

I looked for a while but didn't see any concise discussions. I'll have to implement some veggies/fruits into my diet the next time I go to the store. There aren't any excuses anymore. One of the guys I live with now has turned into a hardcore gym addict so that helps a lot.

ISAGENIX?
Diet Plans |
This thread seems like a lot of hot air but I'll throw my 2 cents in.
I looked over some Isagenix reviews and the program seems a bit silly. If you stick with it you could theoretically lose weight. However, it's not a permanent solution. Can you really stick to soups and shakes forever? The best way to lose weight would be to change your current diet to something you enjoy that is also healthy. A long term diet change will do more for you down the road. Exercise is also quite neccesary to get that metabolism going. Summary: If you followed Isagenix to the letter, you would probably lose a bit of weight since your calorie intake would be low. However, following the program would be very difficult. It's also a bit expensive. |

Starting a diet over from scratch
Diet & Nutrition Tips |
Just last week I moved out into a house with some friends for the first time. Now I have inherited the joyful task of buying my own food. As I entered the local Krogers I realized that I had no idea what I should buy.
The question now arises, what food staples should we stick to in order to have a healthy but varied diet? I bought all the usual items that I'm used to eating: - Chicken breast - Tuna - Non-fat yogurt (I discovered this wonderful snack while wandering around Kroger - Only 80 calories per carton) - Turkey Beyond that, I'm not sure what foods would be a healthy addition to my diet. High protein foods would be welcome with my weight routine. Ideas? |

A Simple Weight Routine For A Beginner

I found the squat racks btw. I rarely ventured into the free weights area so I never noticed them. That's all changed by now of course. My whole body aches but the new routine is going well. Squats really do a lot for ya.

Supplements?
Off-Topic & General Chat |
I agree with drunk Dave. Whey protein might be needed for those that want to build muscle. It's sometimes difficult to get the neccesary protein from the food that you eat. I'd rather not eat 5 cans of tuna a day and then some.

That's a good story there Dean. Motivational. I'll keep that in mind when I'm pushing myself at the gym today.

Bad Day! :(
Off-Topic & General Chat |
Try not to take the daily measurements to heart. My weight can fluctuate wildly from day to day without any obvious changes in diet/exercise routine. Be patient and take it on a more weekly/bi-weekly basis.

Has your workout ever made you want to cry?
Off-Topic & General Chat |
I only cry when certain characters die in movies.
Last example: In "I Am Legend" when Will Smith's dog is dying/turning into a zombie dog in his arms after saving his life. Other than that I never do. Not even at funerals. |

I've heard the sculpted versus performance argument before. You don't need to worry about me becoming the excessive sculpter/pretty boy. Confidence is really where it's at, couldn't agree with you more.

A sandbag exercise? That sounds interesting. Too bad my gym doesn't keep any sitting around. Never know when a sand bag might comes in handy.

An Ideal Bicep Routine
Exercise & Training Tips |
Thanks for the advice Splint. If the curls don't pay dividends then I may switch over to dead lifts. I'm open to change it up at any point since this routine was only recently devised.
Dean: "Besides my way of training is not to look good, it is to BE good. In the process you look damn fine by default and get out of attracting all the wrong types like young teeny boppers and start working on real women if you know what I mean!" I'm not sure what you mean by training to "be good". My training is meant to increase energy levels, look good (this seems to be a pre-requisite for attracting women these days) and feel confident in my ability to work towards (and accomplish) goals. Perhaps the Brits have a different purpose for training? I have yet to go there but I'm looking forward to going there to see some old friends. |

An Ideal Bicep Routine
Exercise & Training Tips |
I plan on keeping the preacher curl and I'm probably going to throw in a pullup routine. I just need to find the pullbar in my gym somewhere.
I found the squat racks at my gym btw Dave. They were hiding in a section I don't usually wander into. Of course, my legs aren't so happy that I found the racks right now but it's all for the good of the cause I suppose. |

I do the bench press on that day as part of my chest routine so I agree with ya there.
Don't really know what you're talking about in terms of your last comment Dean but I'm gonna stick with it. I was just concerned that my bicep routine wasn't rigorous enough. |
