Sometimes I find I do it subconsciously and don't notice it until afterwards when my teeth hurt.

Hm... maybe? I don't think so, since I can't bite down too hard (I have "glue" on the inside of some of my molars to keep from biting down on my braces), but I'll check for that next time. ^^

Might also be a sinus problem since it is your upper teeth. Do you have allergies or recurring sinus infections?

Actually, it does feel a bit in the sinuses. I haven't had any sinus problems really, but I know a lot of people on my dad's side of the family do. I'll talk to my doctor about it at my next appointment. Thanks!

Try a mouthguard.

That's kind of for... clenching my jaw, right? If I find that's what I'm doing, I'll probably try one.

It was like a strange buzzing annoying feeling.

Yeah, exactly. It's not really soreness, just kind of an annoyance. If I figure it out I'll be sure to let you know my results. ;)

Sometimes after I've had a really hard run - pushed myself a bit more than usual - my upper teeth become a bit sore. This usually happens after fitness testing, running, in school phys. ed. classes, but once in awhile after I've been jogging around my neighborhood, too.

Just wondering if any one knew anything about this. Why does it happen? Can I prevent it in any way?

Thanks. =]

Hiya! =]

I'm 5'3.5" (honest!) and I last weighed in at 133lbs. I'd dream goal is 110 lbs., but if I got to 120 I'd be pretty happy!

I'm going on 15 yrs, so it's hard to control my diet, when my parents buy all the groceries and make most of the meals. It's also difficult to exercise, because I have to ask my parents to leave the house (go running), and if I try exercising inside I've got three younger sisters that sit and giggle at me the whole time. Especially sucky when the oldest of my siblings (13 yrs) is already as tall as me and stick-skinny (she weighs 102lbs at 5'3").

Having feelings that I'm gonna be the runt of the family. Shortest (and pudgy-est) of all four of us. Funny though, I've seen this a lot with Asian families, where the oldest girl is the shortest. Hmm... ?
Asian + No White Rice = Doomsday!!

White rice! Ahh! <-- this was me when I found this topic. heehee.

I adoooore white rice, I couldn't live without it, I swear. When I first started trying to lose weight, I swore off the white rice. This lasted, oh, about three days. I'm now surprised I went even THAT long. So, knowing that I'm not going to be able to substitute it completely, I just try some other little tricks. When I have it on my plate, I try to eat mostly the salad or stir fry or whatever else is there first, or with bigger bites. Then, I eat less rice. Also, I never eat white bread (wasn't too big of a change, I've never liked it much anyway) and only whole grain pasta. I'm a freshman in high school, so obviously still at home, and my parents don't buy brown rice so I can't really try it either. I had it once when I was little and hated it. Hmm... ?

I was wondering, is Spanish rice just as bad as white rice? (Well, as clarified here, white rice isn't necessarily BAD - but hopefully you get what I mean) 'Cause Spanish rice is YUM.

Oh, btw, I'm half-Asian. Lao mostly. =]

Im asian. White rice is what I eat EVERY-SINGLE-DAY ever since I was born.

(ok yeah not that long ago but you get the idea)

LOL! I got a kick out of that!

Questioning Workouts
Exercise & Training Tips
Posted: February 03, 2007
I keep finding different training methods/workout routines and I don't know what to think of them because I'm not very experienced in any of this. Are they actually a good exercise? Will they really do what is advertised? etc. etc. etc.

If any one else is having this problem, here's a place to post workouts and hopefully we can get advice from more experienced traineo members.

So, my first question is about this:

Hips, buns and thighs

Any opinions on it? Is there something different I can substitute if I don't have a barbell/dumbells? Is it unhealthy to do only this exercise - should I be doing another type along with it (running, etc.)?

Or could someone suggest a really good basic workout, for all areas of the body? I'm a beginner, so nothing too hardcore. lol.

Thanks for the help. ^-^

Hello Lyubo and Shruti. I'm Liz.

Lyubo: Really? You shouldn't eat afterward for a whole hour?! I never knew that! Thanks for the tip! I usually train at around 4PM - 5PM and then eat supper right after. I know to stop that now.

Shruti: Wow! I've never gone back and forth with weight like that. I guess, I've never been one to gain lots of weight so I never tried losing it, but since a few years ago I've been realizing the weight I'm at isn't what I'd like it to be. Good for you though! I'm sure, with that experience, you'll be able to get it off and keep it off really soon! Any tips? This is my first time trying to lose weight...

Today has been a really horrible day. I finally used a scale and... well... my fear was for good reason. I was scared of using one because I thought I'd weigh more than I actually do, and it's true!! I thought I weighed maybe 125, but it's much closer to 135lbs., actually. I can't believe it. I'm still at a normal BMI, but it's on the heavier side. I'm going to have to try a lot harder to lose this!

heehee I think you forgot to add me as a motivator? But it's ok.

a b - awww. Just lost water? I think I've read about that too. Well, it was 1 pound so I am sure you will lose it again soon! Especially because you're in TaeKwonDo. I'm not in anything like that except piano lessons!

Today I did OK. Again, not much exercise, but I've been drinking a lot more water. From everything I've read, they say water is really good for losing weight and keeping your skin healthy.

Keep trying guys!

I won't have time to post for a little while, so I will see you in a few days!

The boxing game is a huge workout... My muscles were very sore 1 day after Xmas (I understand that's Boxing day for you Canadians)

Whoo Boxing Day! *waves Canadian flag* heehee

I really hope I get a Wii soon. They look SO awesome. Can any one tell me, would it be hard to use for a non-gamer? (I never got into gaming really, I used to have a little ol' Game Boy Color, though )

1 pound! Good job! That is way more than me, I haven't lot any yet. *sigh*

Dance is a good way to work out... I like it but I don't dance a lot. I don't have school Wed-Thurs-Fri this week because I had exams on Mon-Tues. School play sounds cool!!

I ate lots of peanut butter & jelly today but it wasn't that bad because it's No Sugar peanut butter and triple fruit jam. I did not exercise though except playing piano really...

a b - hehe we are motivator buddies. I am Lizzie by the way. How was your day today? I didn't exercise but I walked to piano lessons, which is about 5 blocks away. I pigged out on fries and cheese buns though =[ but I tried to eat lots of carrots and drink water too.

Naomi - Hii! I like your name! I'm Lizzie, I'm 14. Well if you check out the groups I am in, some of them have some cool stuff. Podfitness sounds really cool, I haven't tried it out yet, but it's where you get personal fitness recordings to put on your mp3 player!

I will be a motivator for you if you want! Just go to my page and click "Ask Elizabeth to be your motivator"

Yay! We are contacts!

I guess we can't be motivators... ? Well, when I go to your page, it doesn't have the "Ask to be a motivator" button. :S But that's okay.

I am exactly like that! You're not stupid! *hugs* I am always saying, "Ok, now I'm gonna be healthier." then I binge on a whole bunch of pizza and cookies and stuff. I've grown up eating healthy meals, but whenever I have snacks I eat all greasy or sugary foods.

Chocolate is heaven.

You are not fat! We are both trying to lose about the same. I am trying to lose 15lbs. by July 1st. I bet you can do it in one month though you seem more determined than me, I am very lazy!

Want to be motivators for each other? ^_^

I think it's great to have a place for teens! :]

I'm Lizz... nice to meet every one. 5'3" at around 125lbs., though I have a huge fear of scales, so I have no idea if that's true. The last time I weighed myself was a year & a half ago, and I was 118lbs.

Anyone else scared of weighing themselves on scales? I hate it.
