I have few things I want to accomplish first, then I am going to approach WW on this issue. I know I will have my leaders support. I know how good the program is and I want it to be there to help others.

I guess I was lucky with the group I started with, there were quite a few men.

I have a running, weight-loss, basically a rambling BLOG that helps keeps me honest with myself. I called the blog 42@42, I want to run a 42.2K marathon at 42 years of age. It is about my journey toward my goal.

It is at 42at42.blogspot.com

In the left hand column, you will find links to many great blogs and podcast that have helped me along the way.

Update, new WW commercial, there are a couple of men in the commercial. You can't tell if they are on program, but it is a start.
What's your action goal for this month?

Your good John, I like doing a mix of almonds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds. A granola bar, trying to keep to the 100-150 calorie mark.

I love CLIF Shot Bloks. They are easy on the stomach, easy to consume. You can put them in your mouth, bite them a couple times and let them dissolve. Drink some water. They taste really good.

I tried gels, they seem to clunk hard in the stomach and taste bad.

I found that if you start to get hungry the 'wall' is close by.

That was my reasoning for posting. I wanted men who are looking for a weight-loss program to know that there are men at the meetings.

Weight Watchers is guilty of having men shy away from their program by their blatant ads geared toward "women only". Their TV ads do not show any man, not even in the background. Their magazine does have success stories from men (mine might be there in the future), but most of the magazine is directed towards women.

I do want to confront WW on this issue, but for the moment I do not have the time.

As I have said at the 8am meeting I attend, 1 of 1000's of meeting there are more than a few people who sit in the maintenance circle (I call it the big losers circle). There are a couple of more on their way.

I can't even guestimate how many men attend meetings, and how many have been successful.

Whenever asked I proudly say, I lost my weight at WW. If someone is serious and ready to lose weight, I would highly recomend WW, it is the only program that change your lifestyle to one that allows you to live.

I know where you were coming from with your comment, but I hope somebody who is teetering on going to WW or not, decides not to go because of the comment.

Keep up the good work on the podcast.

I think part of my success was losing it at a good moderate pace. This enabled the skin to sort of recover. I do have some issues, but compared to the way I was - no complaints. In fact I go swimming in public without a shirt. If it offends - oh well sorry.

I am 42 years old. In October 2004 I weighed in at 351lbs. I started going to Weight Watchers and have lost over 130lbs. I have been at goal since June 2006. Since losing the weight I have taken up running. I never could run when I was younger and the running I did do, I had absolutely no stamina whatsoever.

Last year I ran in some shorter distance races and trained and ran 2 half-marathons.

My goal is to run a full marathon this coming year. I have started a BLOG to help motivate myself. Since I am 42 this year, I figured what better time to run a 42KM race.

As far as loose skin, so far I have a little. When I lose my last 20lbs, I may have more.

I am getting a new pair of shoes for Christmas, so they will get 5 miles on them on Christmas Day.

I entered a training schedule for my first upcoming marathon on the calender. It propagated the dates automatically. My first "official" training run is Christmas Eve. I guess a higher power it telling me something. "Get your butt out of the fridge and on the road".

That is a great list. I would like to add one:

Hunger = Danger

Never get hungry, if you get too hungry, you will eat anything and probably too much of it.

Hi,

I started listening to podcasts during my runs. I started with Phedippidations and Steve suggested listening to many podcasts, which eventually led me Fat2Fit. This in turn has led me to Traineo and the Fat2Fit group. Every tool in the Weight-loss and fitness toolbox helps.

There was a comment made on Episode# 7 podcast about the stigma of WW and men. I want to tell any man out there who has any thoughts about WW, there is no stigma. At the 8am Saturday meeting that helped me lose more than 130lbs, there are more than a couple of successful men. True it is mostly women, but where else can you have a whole room full of women applauding you?

If you need the support of a group, go to WW. It works!!!

I do love the podcast, I just don't want to see anyone who could use the help of WW, think that men should be embarrassed to join. I repeat again IT WORKS!!!

NO SURGERY, NO PILLS, NO MAGIC, way to go. I like the fact he is working at the gym. This will help him to say healthy.

I have been training for about a month so far. I have not made it to 13.1 miles yet

Take your time. Remember the 10% rule. Increase your mileage slowly. Increasing too quickly will cause injury.

Do you have a training program?

My resolutions are:

1. Ditto John's #1, I need to lose another 20lbs.

2. Run my 1st marathon in May. Continue to run other races and have fun while doing so.
