Thanks for the encouragement. I have been to the gym the past three days and just got my fitness mag in the mail. I am going to try to start getting up earlier and maybe lifting in the morning. That way my workout in the pm will be that much shorter and start dinner sooner so here's to making the effort

Wow!! Go ahead Tom that is great progress.
On another note i have not been at the gym as much as i would like because the stomach flu has made it's rounds through my family. Luckily i dont have it, but I am still losing weight not at the pace that i like but i still lost. Which tells me that with my working out as hard as i do i might need to increase my calories. Idk it's very hard for me to write down what i eat i know i need to, but my day is sooo freaking hectic that alot of my problem is i forget to eat becuase i am on a roll at work for hours, or cleaning the house or caring for my kid, or bieng super mommy in genral and then i sit down exhausted and before i know i am starving but actually too tired to eat so i will end my day about 1800 cal which is the bmr for my goal weight so is that good or bad? who knows. I am still losing

What is your story?
Fat 2 Fit Radio |
okay so in the format mine might be a little confusing, becuase this is my second go 'round and i havent gotten very far but in the spirit of sharing......
Name: Farah King Age: so not tellingHome: Seattle WA Job: Job coach for develomentally disabled adults Height: 5 ft 7 weught before 220 weight after: 138 Current wieght: 192.6 The Gain: I was teenager when I lost my Grandfather 13 to be exact, and I was very close to him and it was deeply painful and some what sudden. He had cancer and took four months to pass and I help care for him and keep him comfortable. But the pain of watching him waist away and in the end pass away was devostating. My Grandmother's way of dealing was cooking and my way of dealing was eating. My grandmother being the "southern Lady" cooked nothing by delicious homade soulfood. So in the course about two years i went from your typical teen with a little baby fat to being freaking huge. The Change: I was actually pretty comfortable in my skin and despite my huge butt i had a very healty social life for a teen, so what made me make the change was my Dr. blowing a gasket when i weighed in 50lbs heavier than i had the previous yearly check up. So I started a workout routine. But being very heavy and ridiculously uncoordinated I Hated aerobic! And lifted weights instead. I was addicted and in the span of 7months of lifting a the gym at my apartment complex I was down to 185lbs. Well during my love for lifting weight I has started reading Muscle and Fitness magazine for help and soon added a cardio routine that i liked which was hiking and changed my diet to 6 small meals a day and boom in six more months I was stable at about 135-139lbs. I guess i should add that i lifted on a two day split six days a week with one days rest and rarly missed as I said I love to lift. The Lifestyle: I Graduated from highschool and moved out on my own and sucessfully maitained my love of weights and hiking, and as a side affect of my hobbies I maintained my nice figure and health. I ran in some small races with freinds for fun icluding the Local Muddy Buddy. The Change: I was happily married and expeting my first child when it was discovered that my husband had a chronic illness. ( I am not going to say what for his privacy) Because it was delicate pregnancy i couldn't work more than a few hours a week and he had been the main bread winner. To make a long story short we went from being financially stable and planning the purchase of our first home, to sleeping on freinds couches and basically being homeless. After the birth of my duaghter my husband was still very ill and couldn't work or help care for our daughter so i was faced with trying to support us all care for them both with limited money and at sometimes with no roof over our head. After a while i put on a signifigant amonut of weight from stress. The Change: We were able to finally get some help from a local church and get medical treatment. He is back to work, and still has some flare ups but he has insurance that covers treatments and maintenece so we are much more stable now. However I still have had a hardtime making time for my hobbies of fitness and have a much harder time preparing meals with care of my family so i am still fat, and suffer from acute depression. The Change: with the help of firends, and therapy i have started to conquer issues and fears i have reagarding taking time for myself away from my family. I am now taking baby steps to regaining my health and control of my dependance on food once again. My daughter is very active (ballet, tap, swim, gymnastics) and as she gets older i want to be able to keep up with her. I am sleeping, more, cooking more, packing healthier lunches, Weeee! back in the gym at least three days a week. The Reward: I am looking forward to regaining my health, my self confidence, and my fugure. And also keeping up with a very active and athletic five year old. |

yeah I have been in a little bratty " I dont wanna" mode the past couple days too. So what I do is try to motivate my self by saying other bratty I dont wannas. Like instead saying " I dont wanna eat healthy" I'll think more along the lines of " I dont wanna shop at Layne Bryant anymore!' and go from there. So far it's worked and I have dragged my lazy but to the gym everyday this week and rewarded myself with a nice sit in the steemroom yesterday.

Where/How do u exercize?
Fat 2 Fit Radio |
I signed up my daughter for classes at the YMCA to help channel some of her energy. So I make myself pack a bag and because i have to be at the gym anyway it's a failsafe way to guilt myself in to working out at least 3 days a week. I do a split routine with upper and lower body with at least 40 minutes of some kind of cardio.

Yeah I am now going through the same thing. There is a refregerator full of free KFC from a picnic that my company had this weekend. They brought in what was leftover to nice to the employees. And becuase everyones seems to be taking up on the freebies all I smell is microvaved fried chicken. ARRRGGHHHHH! This so wrong.

Questions and Suggested Topics for Upcoming Shows
Fat 2 Fit Radio |
As a parent I have been seeing some books and shows such Queen Sized on tv that basically have the premise of an overwieght child or teen who is teased or picked on that goes on to win something or do something that proves to their peers that they are just as beautiful or special or whatever as their thin counterparts. The over all message of all this it's okay to be different. But although i deffinatly agree the hell of going through school overweight and teased, I have an issue with spreading the message that it is okay to be fat. I was for a while as a teen and at 5'7 220 my dr was having fits begging me to deal with my health and weight. So when i see things like this and look at my daughter i have mixed fellings. I would be interested on what you guys have to say. One being a parent and the being an educator.

Introduce Yourself to the Fat2Fit Radio Group!
Fat 2 Fit Radio |
Hello I am Farah, I have a lovely little five year old daughter, and have been married for eight years. I always seem to struggle with my wieght in times of great stress. As a ten when i lost my Grandfather which was devastating I gained a good 50lbs in a year. I lost it four years later the old fashion way. Lots of hard work and a lot less food. Then my life turned upside down due to a personal tragedy and i have gained 60 freaking pounds! I like to exercise, actually I love to exercise, it's a great stress reliever, but so are Krepe Kremes and due to a lack of time to myself I have turned to food for comfort and my fat is, and unhappiness are the result. So this is the year i start to put of my life back together and getting healthy and active again is a major part so here i am. I found the pod cast on itunes and had to laught the cmbination of someone maintaining and someone lossing really struck a cord and i thought what the hell. and joined.
