I also felt I couldn't do it for such a long time. But two months ago I just started and I've lost 9 kilos (~20 lbs) so far without much exercising.

I am a student at university and spend most of my time in class or working at home at my pc, so I am not very physically active either.

It is possible, just start!

If you think you cannot stand a real diet now and depriving yourself of food, think about doing JUDDDD (Johnson's Up Day Down Day Diet) - the first post explains very good what it is all about.

I am just doing my second DD in a row and my fourth day on JUDDDD. Tomorrow is a birthday party and I just want to eat then. I don't feel bad really. It's only a little headache. Actually I think that I am not getting hungry until I eat something, as some other people here experienced as well. But of course I know that I shouldn't go on like this for more than two days and I won't. Tomorrow I will get a great dinner and cake And I also want to have a huge breakfast. Can't wait for tomorrow to come.

Hi,

I joined the JUDDDD group quite a while ago because I was so curious. Now after some weeks of reading the posts in this group from time to time I decided to finally give JUDDDD a try.

Today is my second DD, I am hungry but not feeling too bad. I have had 80 calories so far (allowed to have 394 altogether).

Wish me luck

I also used to be a person who never cooked something more difficult to make than pasta.

BUT, last summer I was babysitting my little siblings for a month and out of sheer boredom I started cooking. There are loads of cookbooks for beginners. I started with something called "Basic Cooking" (or similar) and a cookbook written for students (very simple) and it turned out cooking is not that complicated.

Just try! Cooking really is not that hard!

I use calorie-count as well. I also like how they rate my food And the biggest advantage for me is that I can enter food I cannot find there.

You can also enter recipes and how many servings it is in total and it tells you how many calories etc. one serving has.

It is great!

Sparkpeople is too complicated - there just is too much.

I remember my mum always insisted in me eating everything up and not leaving anything on the plate, even if I was not hungry anymore. Now she always asks me why I do not care about how I look.

Of course I do not think it is only her fault, but that I had to eat even if I did not want to until I moved out, is probably part of the problem.

I know this feeling.

Is there any way to keep yourself busy? Like working, doing domestic activity, going for a walk or even playing some stupid onlinegame?

Good luck!

Hi Tim,

you are doing great. I seems like you are experiencing a plateau. No need to worry - many of us have to suffer from this from time to time, despite being good all the time doing exercise and eating healthy.

It will go away!

Good luck

oh yes, I forgot that

I still LOVE frozen raspberries. You can nibble endless on a few. Because they are frozen they somehow are a substitute to ice-cream, but they are sooo sweet and refreshing and... just wonderful

I think I have to get some now...

My mother used to give me and my siblings a lot of fruits. Sometimes we also made yogurt together which was quite fun and it tasted so much better because we made it ourselves.

Of course we did not make the yogurt, but we took plain yogurt, cut some fruits in little pieces (preferred strawberries) and mashed others and mixed everything up. If the fruits were not sweet enough we added some sugar.

I think kids love everything sweet and fruits are sweet

Also, in my experience, kids will like everything they made themselves. I do not know how old your kids are or if you have already tried this, but this could really make them eat healthy stuff

Low Calorie Carrot cake?

how low is low?

i guess you could take most recipes and replace certain ingredients to get fewer calories

I've got a recipe for carrot cake. The whole cake is about 800g and one serving of 100g is about 300 calories. If you replace the sugar in this certain recipe with honey and the hazelnuts with almonds you get 20 calories less per serving. Not too much, but a difference

Hi, I am new here because I am thinking of making a low carb diet. What I read so far about low carb diets seems very interesting, but I don't know which food contains few carbs.

What do you eat in order to get only a small amount of carbs? They seem to be just everywhere...

What did you have for Breakfast?

I also had a late breakfast today with an omelet with ham and french toast with maple syrup - loads of unhealthy stuff, I know. There is this nice café where I go for breakfast once a week and I just can't bring myself to break with this tradition. But I try to compensate for this with eating better things the rest of the day.

Normally I have some muesli with milk, a yogurt or fruits, depending on how much time I have or how stressed I am already because I got up too late

maybe your friend isn't a motivator? people can choose whether they want to be a motivator or not. if they are motivators you can normally just chose "ask xy to be your motivator" right on top of their profile page (between "send xy a message" and "send xy a water bottle")

I know similar sayings from my family.

All I can say is: Use it as motivation. You can do it and now there is another reason to lose weight: to show your brother you can do it!

Do you know this baby food in jars?

I really love that stuff (only the ones with fruits) - it really tastes great.

One jar is 190 grams and has between 110 and 120 calories, depending on what fruits are in it.

This food is totally healthy, it is just fruits, fruitjuice, semolina (right word? just too make it less liquid I suppose...) and added vitamins.

So: no sugar added, no aroma added and also no preservatives.
