Ara - that is interesting. I think we both started on Traineo at about the same time, and now we also return at about the same time. Maybe it has something to do with the alignment of the planets.. or its just a coincidence.

Hello everyone. I have been away for the past 4 months. I must apologize for just up and disappearing. I allowed the stresses of life to drag me back into my old habits, so I abandoned Traineo and the community here. I guess I just didn't want to keep reading about all of the successes as I was most certainly failing.
This was a poor decision on my part. I have gained back 8lbs and have been eating the worst foods I can get my hands on. I have decided to return to my old routine from eating and exercise, and even the websites that I frequent. Traineo was one of the ones that helped keep me motivated, so I am back. I want to apologize for simply vanishing, and have always been blessed by the encouragement and discussions that I find here in the Traineo Community. |

Food - I love to eat. And the last month or so, I have not been doing well. I eat when I am stressed, excited, sad, happy, etc. I eat. If there is an emotion, I have some way of eating because of it.

Two days ago my wife and I received a phone call that we have been approved to adopt in the State of Florida! And then our caseworker told us that the two older children that we had been told were no longer available to adopt are still available! After a lot of prayer, and reviewing the journey in this process for the past 6 months, we are moving forward with trying to adopt them even though we have a baby on the way!
And tonight we will actually be meeting them! |

It looks like eating one packet of one of these is actually not bad at all, but eating four packets at once is a lot of calories for a meal. More than half of your daily calories are in that 4 packet bowl, so hopefully when you eat that 4 packet bowl hopefully you aren't eating much else the rest of the day. I have learned that serving sizes on packages hardly ever equal what I think a serving size should be.

Today the State of Florida essentially requested an extension to process our adoption application since they exceeded their legal time frame to let us know. So we have to wait another 16 days at a minimum to find out about that.
I expected this set back to happen. Working with the State has been this way. And this isn't all bad since this will give us some more time to think about what we would like to do. The approval of our home study simply makes us eligible to adopt a child that is in the custody of the State of Florida and doesn't actually place a child with us, so once we are approved we will be in a better position to see if the children we are hoping to adopt will be available which will help guide our decision. |

My apologies everyone, I still don't have any more numbers to post. Life keeps getting in the way of the gym, and I am just not used to lifting with my 25lb dumb bells at home. ( I know I need to use those if I am unable to get to the gym. )
I am considering getting up at 5:00am so I can go to the gym for 40 minutes in the mornings since the evenings are not working out as well as they used to... |

I re-started week 3 yesterday evening and my run went well. I fell off the wagon for the past couple of weeks and am getting back onboard.
I also changed my running form and am happy to report that I am having zero knee pain today from last nights run. I was 'heel running' and now I am 'forefoot running'. This site explains this really well. (warning they are also trying to sell you shoes) |

Thanks everyone. I am really excited right now. Our parents are really excited too!
We are a bit divided now as to if we should proceed with adopting. My wife's family doesn't want us to adopt now, but my family is really excited for us to follow through with adopting. And I am leaning towards adopting still and my wife just isn't sure. So, we still need to figure out the adoption stuff. Thanks again everyone.

This morning when I woke up my wife had a gift bag for me that she was really excited for me to open.
When I opened the bag there was a pen box in it. I thought "Doesn't she know that I lose pens?" When I opened the box there was no pen, but a pregnancy test showing positive! So, I am a Daddy! I then had to head to work since I don't give myself much time from wake up to walking into work. My wife and I have a lot of thinking and talking to do this evening. We are also expecting to hear from DCF this week to see if we have been approved to adopt, so we need to decide whether we want to continue the adoption process. We were never interested in adoption due to fertility issues, so we may end up with a much larger family by the end of the year.

I am going to weigh in tomorrow but I don't think I will be losing any this week, I am simply going to hope I don't gain any either. I really feel like I have been floating between 186 and 189 for the past few weeks with zero progress getting the scale to go down.

I sit at a desk all day as well and I stretch my legs often by lifting my feet up with my heel on the ground. If you get any 15 breaks during the day you can also use that as an opportunity to get in a 15 minute walk around the building.
But I would be interested in any 'sitting at a desk' exercises that won't make everyone you work with think you are crazy.

I don't know if my work would appreciate me running around the office, well they might not appreciate me typing on here while at work either.

This past week and a few days have not gone as planned. I haven’t been running or going to the gym. I also still need to start my Week 3 second run of the Couch to 5k plan. I also haven’t been to the Gym at all. So my additional cardio and strength training also isn’t happening. I am not sure what has happened but I seem to have lost my motivation, or maybe I just misplaced it…. My desire to do just about anything has plummeted to zero. I admit that I haven’t been feeling that amazing and my wife has been sick for the past week, but I can honestly say that I can get off of my bum and be active with a sore throat and a cough. It is really just a convenient excuse for me.
So, I think I am writing this more as a confession of my laziness this past week and an attempt to re-discover my motivation that has gotten me to where I am today. I am now 25lbs lighter than I was 4 months ago and in the best physical shape I have been in for years and years. This is certainly not the time to stop, this is the time to keep pushing forward even when I don’t want to. This is the time to prove to myself that I can do this. I can get to my goal weight and I can run a 5K. I can do this, I just need to stop finding excuses to be lazy and get out there and hit the gym and the street with my running shoes. No more excuses. Tonight, I am running my second week 3 run and heading to the gym. My plan is simple, no more excuses. |
