This is a good demonstration of the Wii Fit benefits. Losing nearly 11 lbs in less than 2 months by playing a video game is a huge win, IMO. If I can stay committed to it, I would like to perform a similar experiment using the Wii's Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party Workout Mode and see what kind of results I get by doing a set amount of time on a regular schedule.

I can't wait to try the Wii Fit. I've been having a blast with DDR, Wii Sports & GH3.

Great thread!

Agree w/ Minu, if you get a nice set of reps and sets of doing the neg work by jumping up...it can be a real cardio workout. I do these when I workout at the schoolyard. Jump and pulls, then slow neg down for 3X10 workout. Someday, I would like to do an unassisted pullup as well.

Good luck and keep up the good work everyone!

Looked like a floozy for a couple days afterward.

LOL I have a similar issue when I do back squats. I get these marks on my shoulder and traps that look scratch marks or claw marks. My wife eyes them suspiciously whenever I take my shirt off.

And yes, 1 leg squats are far too advanced for me...someday though...someday...

Minu brings up a good point about fish oil quality. It's key for optimal benefits. I have stuck with Carlson's Cod Liver Oil as my source of Omega-3 supplementation.

I've been following this workout plan from College of the Canyons Strength & Conditioning coach, Dos Remedios. It's called Power Training and is published by Men's Health. Great book, but now it looks like they have put out a companion site to randomly create workout plans based on those in the book. Take a look, I think some of you will really like it.

Front squats are great because they really force you to keep your torso upright. They are a beast to do and help prevent doing ego lifts that may result in injury. I've really worked these in as a regular item in my workouts/weight training.

@ Carol

I have a pedometer and used to tracked my steps religiously. I even had a log here on Traineo to track daily steps & aerobic steps. I haven't done this in quite some time though and now need to get a new battery for my ped to start again.

@ Lorraine

C25K is an awesome program, I started it back in the beginning of my journey, but found it too hard on my knees and shins when I was still close to 300lbs. I might revisit this program when I get down under 250lbs though.

I used to get fish burps when I took the Costco/Kirkland Fish Oil capsules (yuck!), but don't get them now with the Carlson Cod Liver Oil. I also have read that it's good to take a Vitamin E supplement with the fish oil.

I took the liquid, not the capsules. Liquid is better I'd say because it works faster. It really doesn't taste bad. It's like drinking olive oil. I had melon flavor though.

I used Carlson's Norweigan Cod Liver Oil.

Which is loaded with Omega 3.

I take the same stuff as Lindsey. My first batch was just the plain fish flavor oil. BLECH! The lemon flavor stuff is much, MUCH better. It really will work wonders for your skin, especially since the Cod Liver Oil is loaded with Vitamin D which is also really good for your skin and overall health.

Also, I use Mercola's Natural Body Butter and it has really done wonders for my skin which used to get real dry and ashy in certain conditions.

GRRR - HUGE problem here...

I now have access to EVERY single forum available on traineo.

Every single group, even those I'm not a member of, show up underneath the usual forum topics, and the new posts in all the groups show up among the new posts - meaning that sometimes the new posts from the groups that I AM a member of get pushed down the list on the main forum page and thus go completely ignored by me.

I am experiencing the same issue.

My first time came via wrestling. In order to cut weight I did the typical low cal aka starvation method because I just didn't know any better. But combined with all the extreme levels of exercise I lost tremendous amounts of weight in a short period of time...of course I gained it all back just as fast. lol

I aim for 25g to 35g per day, but somedays go up to 50g. I get the bulk of it through fruits, veggies, nuts, & cereals, but also supplement with Psyllium Whole Husk powder.

Spyke,

Have you looked at changing up your workout routine? Being that your body may have adapted to your current diet and workout, you may need to shake things up drastically and get your body guessing again and force it to readapt.

yoga for weightlifters?
Exercise & Training Tips

I'm seriously considering Yoga as a way to help reduce my blood pressure and increase my flexibility. I think Yoga is an excellent way to assist in these areas. I don't think Yoga could be a replacement for weight training as I don't think you will build enough muscle through Yoga which is key for fat loss, but I think it's perfect as a supplement.

Not Being Able to Work Out
Motivation Tips

I've been working my butt off to prepare for a Hawaii trip next month (going to watch Pro Bowl, then hang out on Kauai). Diet's been good, hitting the gym regularly for cardio & weights. Plus, I met a group that plays Flag Football every Sun, so i joined them.

Well, this last Sun while chasing a QB that was rolling out, I tried to shift into a higher gear and stripped my gear box. I felt a pop in the back of my left leg and it felt like something stabbed me. As I limped off to the sideline my hamstring instantly felt sore.

My physician thinks it's a torn hammy, but I won't know for sure until I get some pics (MRI or Xray) and see an Orthopedist. I've been hobbling around on crutches and treating the recovery like my life depends on it. R-I-C-E, plus mad fluids, glutamine supplement and extra protein to help rebuild tissue. Next week, I'll start trying some heat treatment (heat oils, spa, etc) plus look into some massage therapy.

My outlook is to really focus on my diet until I can walk more and then I'll start doing any upper body I can. Hopefully, I can get in a pool to do some water work too.

So, I'm going through it right now Mishie. And it's not where I would like to be, but I'm going to make the best of it and focus on the prize. Good luck!
