How Far & Often Do You Run
Runner's Group |
I run 4 to 5 times a week. Normally 4 10k's during the week and one longer run on the weekend. How much and how far do the rest of you run in an average week? Do you keep track of your times, distance, pace, etc..? If so what do you use to keep track? (ie Excel Spreadsheet, paper & pencil etc.)

Hey Tory - I just saw your post in this thread from Flablous to fabulous. Excellent work. The chicken & spinach + determination does work miracles. When your own parents don't even recognize you that is something special! Keep up the good work & congratulations.

Thanks Kevin!!! I'm glad I've been able to inspire someone. It's nice to lose the weight for my own personal reasons, but makes it even more amazing to know that I've helped or inspired someone else to do the same.
Congrats on losing the 21lbs and keep it up. You'll be back at 186 before you know it! |

Hello Louise. I didn't do a specific diet like Atkins or any of the others. Instead I logged what I ate (using Diet & Exercise Assistant for the Palm PDA & Desktop) and logged my exercises as well. As long as I burned more calories than I ate I was happy. Basically, I just did simple math. I figure if I burn more than I eat there is no way I would not lose weight. With that being said, until a couple of weeks ago I was stuck at 200lbs for almost 4 months! I was still logging my foods and exercising and should have been losing weight but it was sticking to me like glue. Now I'm losing again and I'm down to 188.5lbs.
As for what I ate... Tons of grilled chicken and lots of spinach. I don't like healthy foods for the most part (salads, greens, etc...) which is probably one of the reasons I got so big. Spinach is one of the few that I'm able to stomach so I ate that with the chicken. Hope that helps! |

I moved from Houston, TX to Cape Town, South Africa a couple of years ago. When I moved to SA I weighed around 275lbs. When I returned to the USA a couple of months ago I was down to 200lbs. My current weight is 192 & my goal at this moment is to reach 180. Then I plan on reevaluating things and seeing where I need to go from there.
![]() ![]() Imagine my family's surprise... I left the USA looking like the first pic and I returned looking like the second. The funny thing is, colleagues at work didn't recognize me at all and I actually walked past my parents one day (after they'd all ready seen me) and they didn't realize it was me! They just weren't used to me looking like that & I walked right by them unnoticed.

Bodies are weird...
Training Routines |
I do follow the scale daily - and I keep track of it all. That was part of my motivation that helped me lose over 80lbs. The minute I saw the weight coming off I was hooked. If the weight went up one morning I was pissed and worked extra hard that day to lower it. If the weight went down in the morning I was happy with the results and wanted to do even better so I worked extra hard that day to lower it again! Either way it helped motivate me.

Nike+ iPod Setup
Training Routines |
I use the Apple Nike+ kit and think it's great. I use it in conjunction with a Polar S725X HRM & running pod. I don't use the Nike+ shoes, as Asics are my running shoes of choice. I simply added some double-sided velcro to the back of the sensor and sewed a small piece to the top of my shoe. The sensor peels on and off as needed and the velcro sewed on the shoe is not noticeable as it is the same color as my shoes.
I'm a gadget freak so when I go running I'm wired. iPod Nano, Nike+ Sport Kit, Polar S725X HRM (I interchange with a Garmin Forerunner 305 when running trails or mountains). |
