ACE or ISSA Certification
Off-Topic & General Chat

I was wondering if there were any ACE or ISSA certified trainers on the forums that could talk about how long it took them to get certified? I was thinking about giving it a shot and wasn't sure if it could be done slowly or if it was something you had to start and goto the end in succession. I've always wanted to get certified I just have a hard time since it's something I'd do in my free time. If any of you did that I'd love to hear your input on doing it.

I was also curious if you could compare and contrast ISSA and ACE in terms of degree / certification and how clientele view it. It's kinda hard wading through the marketing so I figured I'd ask others.

Thanks,
Sean

Thanks, yea ... it was painful but at the same time I look back on it and it inspires me to continue.

Dare I ask for more details about the test? As someone who's been wanting to try P90X out for a while I'm still pretty heavy but can push it pretty hard in circuit training. Care to share the details of the test?

Opinions on nuts?

I love them ... been eating a lot of Walnuts and Almonds this year. If your really into nuts I highly suggest checking out this recipe:

Cocoa and Coconut Snack

It tastes amazing and is easy to make. I personally am using almonds and walnuts a lot to get my omegas in line and feel like it's helped me a ton this year.

Hello all ...

My name is Sean and I've only been on Traineo for a few months now. I'm an avid blogger over at by site: LearnFitness.com . As you can see from my weight loss timeline over there I've been fighting since 2000 to lose this weight. I've finally hit a stride and feel like I own a lot of it to the show.

I made a lot of progress last year but then gained a fair amount back in 4 months. I started listening to Fat 2 Fit Radio in November and the no nonsense approach to logically losing weight and setting goals hit home with me. It really motivated me to get back and solve the problems that had been plaguing me for years. There were fundamental things I was doing wrong when trying to lose this weight.

I've had some really great losses this year so far but I really feel like I'm doing it the right way. No gimmicks, just working out hard and eating right. I'm around 2000-2500 calories per day and my workouts decrease that by 300-800 depending on the exercise and duration.

Anyhow, I wanted to say Hi. Feel free to check out my blog but I also want to post and help out here as well.

I highly suggest checking out the Eating for LIFE cookbook. The recipes are simple and taste great. The pictures are really good and most of the recipes also have pictures of the ingredients which takes some of the uncertainty out of your shopping.

The other one I like a lot is the Biggest Loser Family Cookbook. I know it's gimmicky because it's Biggest Loser but there are actually some good recipes in it.

Check em out ... let me know what you think. If you get the EFL one check out the Taco Pasta Salad recipe, we eat it all the time and love it.

My number one appliance is my new VitaMix blender. It makes amazing protein shakes and blends up my meal replacement shakes quickly.

My second favorite appliance / tool is new and it's my food processor. I've been trying some new recipes lately that use it and it's a ton of fun with all of the attachments.

Finally it's my measuring cups / spoons ... old school, simple, precise. I measure absolutely everything ... peanut butter, oatmeal, milk, berries, etc. I remove the uncertainty and add the reassurance that I'm truly getting what I need.

You guys have me worried. I'm down around 140 pounds to date and have about 60 more to go. I'm really starting to notice my skin but I haven't had any issues with it around my workouts though. I may have to check out Underworks.com, thanks for sharing it.

I've been trying to eat a lot of omega-3 & 6 fat as well as staying very hydrated all the time. I hope this helps some in the long run ... worst case when I maintain for a while I can have it removed.
