How many calories do people aim for in their meals
Diet & Nutrition Tips |
Quoting: rach_1623 Oh, and why don't you just try cooking? Get a really simple recipe and just go for it. If you mess it up, it's not the end of the world. Since you've never tried cooking, you may actually be good at it, you don't know. Give it a shot!!nothing says fun like a kitchen full of smoke! lol...I've been cooking for a while. Even those who can cook make mistakes (like putting on the wrong burner and toasting up an oven mitt..mmm....burnt cotton...LOL!!)

Quoting: sianlee Yesterday I had one of those frozen meals you can get, in the healthy section.Be VERY careful with those. Although they are better than the regular stuff, the sodium is CRAZY! I started using the dailyplate.com to track all my food because it is more specific and I could not BELIEVE how much sodium I was taking in (almost 250% of the daily value!!!) so we started cutting back on those and cooking with fresh ingredients. Quoting: dicesix Luckily sushi is easier to portion than teriyaki and you do not need to cook it. Mmmmmmmmm.........sushi....nothing compares to the sushi I had in Melbourne, Australia. Nothing in the U.S. compares.

But, the newer laptops they came out with are pretty nice. My fiance is selling his ASUS because he doesn't game that much anymore and just bought a refurbed dell XPS...REALLY nice...came with vista and a good warranty. You get some really good deals on the dell refurbs. just do NOOOOOT get a gateway. Promise me. lol... |

What's on YOUR Playlist?
Motivation Tips |
I write my own music to try to motivate myself and then concentrate on how I could write it better when I walk. I loooove long remixes also that are constant with no breaks. Unlike others who measure how many mph they do, I would do how many bpms (beats per minute). So, if a song I wrote was 132bpm, I walk 132 steps per min.

How much water weight is typically lost?
Diet & Nutrition Tips |
Hi, Daniel...we meet again. My fiance does this trick to see how much water he is losing and how much you should take it. I don't know exactly how much loss is normal but here is what you should do.
Weight yourself preworkout and then weigh yourself post workout. The difference in weight is how much you should be drinking during and after your workout to retain water. for instance, he did a 14 mile bikeride and lost 2lbs. So, now he knows how much water he is losing during his workouts. He adjusted accordingly and went from 215lbs early January to being 198 now making that necessary adjustment. It's pretty crazy! Hope this helps a little bit. I know I lost about 7lbs in 2 days from not drinking properly so try that method and see if your numbers are the same. |

Quoting: fauxvirgo And yes, the side effects can be pretty horrible, but the worst ones do subside over timethat is one of the biggest things I worry about is the side effects. I have gone back and forth with deciding whether or not to go see a shrink. Back in 2006, I was taking Loestrin24 to help deal with intense cycles. Well, it turned out to react with me bad. i was a completely different person, violent, and depressed. So, I got off the pills and within 2 months I was back to normal. But, I wonder if that still had an effect on me because I never got back to being "fully" normal. It's been over a year since I've been off them. I stopped taking them new years day in 2007. So, I've always been a little skeptical of taking meds. I've been trying herbs and such. I've been hearing about primrose oil. Anyone have any experience with this? Once again, thank you ALL for your great help. It's hard when you are in a bout and you type and feel ok and the next minute you feel horrible. I am really feeling much better today. I just hate going back and forth. I get a kick of working out and then my mood stops me and I go into this neverending cycle of my weight going up and down and pretty much staying the same. |

Quoting: nicholman People have ups and downs, but I think the majority of these cases are improved exponentially by eating well and regular exercise.I agree...problem is the "brick wall" theory I explained. I felt GREAT when I lost that 50lbs. But, not that is' back on, it's like...how do you fight depression WITH depression? I hope I make sense with this... |

Quoting: fauxvirgo others have a chemical imbalance that no amount of therapy is going to remedy without medical intervention.I think that is what I'm worried about. My dad suffers from depression with manic tendancies and his entire side of his family suffers from some sort of depression. Now, I don't has nearly as bad as symptoms of any of them. Everyone keeps telling me I got half and half. My brother and I are VERY positive people but even we get these bouts we can't explain. We've been told to blame it on a chemical imbalance we inherited...we didn't get the full depression from our fathers but we did inherit some of those traits. my oldest brother got my dad's ADD and doesn't really get any symptoms of the depression at all. But, you are right...I try to talk to my fiance about it and yesterday I got upset and cried and walked out because no matter how much he tries to help, no one really understands what it feels like to just sit and wonder what it is that is bothering you. You can't really pinpoint it. I blame it mostly with being unhappy with my job and I spent time today applying for other jobs so I felt much better and excited to do that. Also, I have been eating healthy since new years and it feels great...except recently I found out I'm not eating enough. Supposed to have 1900 calories and I average around 1200-1500...been getting better at it. Starting taking vitamins a few weeks ago and noticed a big improvement in my mood. Yeah...I need to get out and do it..that's what I told myself new years day. And, I was walking everyone day and doing my physical therapy every week until one week with work just got to me and I felt like doing nothing. So, yeah...i guess that is bugging me. But, it's kinda tough when you can't do much with your job situation... Here's to hoping! And, thanks to everyone for the advice... Btw, Dave (great name, btw..that's my fiance's name.. ), if you see my motivation again at the gym, tell him to give me a call. LOL

lol...yeah...it's kind of like the feeling like this...
Say you have a brick wall. On the other side of the brick wall is the ability to climb the brick wall. You want that ability, but in order to get it, you have the climb the brick wall in front of you but..duuuh...if you knew how to do that, you wouldnt' be having to climb to the other side of the brick wall to get that ability. It's frustrating! I get these moods where..."ok...I'm depressed....but in order to fight that feeling, i have to workout but I'm too depressed to workout..." it's just the same cycle. Also, on your comment about being bored, I used to walk the same walking path 3.6 miles every day or else around my neighborhood the same way and I never got bored...had my mp3 player and everything. Now, it just bores me to tears here (I moved to Texas from Illinois...but, had this problem in Illinois before I moved). I tried different routes, a new walking path, new music. New exercise routines. nothing kept me motivated. It kills my fiance because he feels like he can't keep me motivated and it kills me to have him think that way. Why can't I just climb that wall?!?! I hope that better explains my dilemna. |

Ok, I have to reach out because the time is getting critical....
Back in 2004, I had this huge kick of energy and determination to lose weight. I went from 250lbs down to 207. I felt so good and my best friend helped me stay motivated. We used to challenge each other and both were about the same weight when we started. Well, a few years went by and some personal stuff interfered (i know...no excuse, but was tough) and i gained all my weight back...sad... So, my best friend back from 2004 is now my fiance. He went from 250lbs to now he is a lean 198 and has been racing in triathlons and workouts constantly. He says that I keep him motivated and he just likes to feel good. Then, why is it so hard for me to get motivated again? You think the fact I'm getting married next year would...I thought so, too. He tries to help me get motivated. I tried getting spiritual again and praying, I was walking for a while, and then it doesn't help that my job just stresses me out (been looking to move into a new position...). I think it's mainly work stress really... But, what should I do? I don't understand how the motivation was so easy before and now I just can't find anything to motivate me...I know I need to do this..so why aren't I?!? Argh!! So frustrating...is it something deeper mentally maybe?? I just wanted some insight. I've been on traineo for a while and usually am the one to keep everyone motivated, but just have to be honest with myself since I let myself go again. Thanks everyone for listening.

Exercise & Training Tips |
Just wondering....have you added dairy to the mix? I know my fiance drinks chocolate milk after running for the protein and to help his muscles from being sore but more dairy in your diet also means more mucas. I know this from being a singer...nothing like going la la la...*haaack....after some yummy cheese. lol...just thought I would throw it out there as a possibility.

Newbie Introduction + Workout conundrums!
Exercise & Training Tips |
Quoting: nicholman Honestly, you're worried about an awful lot for just getting started - most anything you do is going to work well for you for a bit I think that is the biggest problem with people starting huge weight loss goals. I know that's how it worked for me. Kudos to your 5lbs! Not to take away from your moment, but just make sure it wasn't water weight and you are drinking plenty of water. I had lost 6lbs and found out it was all water weight so I actually didn't lose anything but water. I have a huge goal, too. I'm currently 247 as well. Started off 255 and my goal is 145 for my wedding day. So, I definitely can feel ya. Being at 140-170 sounds pretty good for your BPM! I know my range is 135-Max 170 and I usually sustain 145 for 27 out of the 30 minutes of my workout and it makes a huge different as opposed to doing maybe 45 minutes of a walk or something. You've come to the right place for advice. I've been with traineo almost 2 years now and everyone here is great on giving advice and helping you reach your goals. Welcome to Traineo!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

I've had the same issue and I've been using traineo for a while. I only had this issue recently. I do all the workouts in order but go back to another day and the total calories are correct but the workout itself isn't listed. Sounds like a support issue.
