I think that there is an important underlying point being made here: Nick has worked very hard, achieved excellent results, but the way his body is made up has contributed to his physique. If you end up like Maxwell's brother and toned and lithe, you will be unhappy if you wanted to be like Nick, and vice versa.
It is about body image, the way we see ourselves and who we want to be.
Well done Nick, but do you agree that people shouldn't necessarily try to to emulate you, or rather, that people shouldn't be disappointed if they can't?
And the endomorph comment interests me. How does one find out what kind of body one has? Should I aim to be built like a rhino or a gazelle?

I just noticed you've got It's My Life too - the No Doubt version. I prefer the old one, reminds me of playing football in the back garden when I was a wee boy.
The new version just reminds me of sitting on my bum watching MTV...
It's all about association, I guess.

The internet is full of good resources. I just think that googling certain phrases will lead you certain places.
Just because you or I are smart enough to spot the good science doesn't mean we should put up with people advertising the bad.
And to paraphrase Kissinger: Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't trying to take your money off you in exchange for rubbish.

I say 'wire', but of course I mean 'wire' in the sense of a 'wireless' wiring. You see.

Yes the Nano is flash based, so won't skip. The 60gb isn't all that heavy - don't you remember tape walkmans, Sadrhino?- but because it has a hard drive it may skip. You wouldn't want to drop it either...
Why not just get a shuffle? Cheap, simple and designed for exercise. Of course, you can wire the nano to your shoes now. What a world.

I'm with Nick on this - if caffeine is evil, why are our doctors, scientists and moderators pushing green tea, the unoxidised and 'strongest' version of the tea plant?
While there is as yet no conclusive (no statistically significant) evidence that green tea's anti oxidants do anything for us, there is plenty of evidence that a small amount of caffeine can have all the positive effects Nick lists. Of course, Nick aslo offers a cautionary tale of what happens when too much is involved...
Moderation then. As usual.

[quote=Roz]I'm here to tell you that the Warrior Diet and The Anti-Estrogenic Diet both really work. I started on the Warrior Diet & lost over 20 lbs. on it within three months. A year has passed & I've never gained the weight back, except for more lean muscle as I work out. I wasn't really over weight before, but am now in the best shape of my life. I went from 168 lbs. to 145 lbs. by following the survival/undereating/overeating principals. My results have been fantastic. I know Ori Hofmekler personally & have had the privilege of co-writing & editing his new diet book, The Anti-Estrogenic Diet. In that diet, he uses the same principles of Warrior Diet, but tweaks it a bit for main stream & for people who aren't fitness buffs. Furthermore, it's a diet that takes your body/blood chemistry to its optimum level - helping protect you against illness, fat gain and disease - by eating the right combinations of foods that fit our genes. After following it for a couple of months, I feel great. Now I'm trying to gain a bit more muscle weight. If you want a diet that works, is easily sustainable, and makes you look and feel great, try this one.

Am I the only one who suspects that some of the posts made in this section of the fora are meant to promote certain products? Methinks that some of these testimonials are bunk, sirrah!
Please remember: it doesn't matter which diet it is, the way we lose weight is by using up more fuel than we put in ourselves and that the only way we can remove excess fat is by exhaling carbon dioxide.
Estrogenic? Oestrogenic? I understand the o-so-subtle mysogyny in your idea, but I question your science. And don't tell me to 'google' things - the internet is a hive of poor science.
A rallying call to Traineo members who are concerned with ads and misinformation in this area: If you see a post you think is an ad, please reply to it with that one word - 'ad'. Then allow the poster to defend his views. THat way, we can be sure we are not just swallowing crepe.

I'm sure there is a certain amount of truth to what they say, but you do need to eat something...
I refuse to be scared of food, but I prefer to know where the food I eat has come from. Where was that fruit grown, does your butcher know where his meat came from, why are you eating that processed powerbar snackette?
So if you need something to buck you up, to get yourself asking more about food, then I'm sure it's a good thing. Just don't get scared - if red meat caused colon cancer, the entire population of Argentina would be crawling around grasping their stomachs and groaning. The FDA has strong ties to Big Pharma - what next? 'Ford admits collusion with Big Oil Shock'?

On the subject of losing weight, have you ever thought how it happens?
Here's a great wee article from Richard Muller, lecturer at Berkeley and very clever man indeed. He needed to lose weight too...

We ought to become more aware of the basic principles if we are to make a long term success of our diets.
