Hi, Richard!

Well, I love pistachios, (in-the-shell, of course, most nuts for that matter), and it's just sensible to try to make everything we eat as potent and as precious as the time it takes feel restored by it.
Anyone out there maintaining?

I hit my glorious goal two and-a-half years ago and have remained there, (with a 2-3 pound above/below fluxation), since.

I did not even notice that I had not gone in a few days, it might have been even more that a week!

CRIKEY! Me thinks that more fiber is required and that those "few days", surely account for the weight gain.

If I don't go every day and at least once, I sure as hell notice and dare I add, end up in cranky town in no time.

Hi, Sanet,

I'm with Iris on the possibility of this being battery-related. Have you weighed in on multiple scales?

Try that first and then think about further freakin' out. ;)

That said, there's a lot of other possible factors to consider once you're sure it's not the scale like: sodium intake, time of month, yes perhaps muscle gain, though that seems unlikely for much of those 11 pounds, (unless you've been lifting REALLY heavy for some time).

Also, and you've probably been doing this anyway but it's worth a note, be sure to weigh in at the same time every time, preferably in the mornings, post-poo even.

Keep up the GREAT work!

Hi, CM,

While I'm no expert on knees, I am currently *enjoying* some considerable pains of my own, (Runner's Knee in my case, both knees as well, yahoo), but this pain you write of I have experienced before and found it to be greatly relieved by employing a gently wrapped tensor bandage 'round the knee. Only a few hours did the trick, with the problem only recurring once or twice again over the course of that week and relieved again with the same therapy.

Worth a shot as it's darned cheaper than adding any ins. co's to the loop.

I always workout before eating.

For post-workout snacks, sometimes I grill up a soya sauce accented chicken breast and then slice up either apple, pineapple or if I have any, mango, using the slices of fruit as bread. That plus a nice handful of natural peanuts while waiting for the grill and Bob'syer...

BRAVA, Angie, BRAVA! Fantastic work! And now that the proverbial cake is done--the rest as they say, is icing.

Enjoy that last leg of sculpting and all the compliments that go along with it.

And on that note, I head on down to the basement to get the ole sweat ON for the day.

Normal water vs Sparkling water?
Diet Plans

I've read that sparkling waters actually have a very minimal impact on both the rate of tooth decay and on the stripping of calcium, (decreasing bone density), and I totally agree that replacing those diet sodas with bubbly water is by far the better choice.

That said, I do likes me a nice diet Coke with lemon once in a while, much more than the sugared type.

And that said, I do wish that N. America and Europe would get on board the Stevia train already. 'Nuff with the aspartame and other freaky sweetening choices...

It's sure not easy, the leaning phase, but it's not permanent either and once that blessed goal is reached, balance is indeed key and a way of life.

I've learned that so long as you keep up the focus for 80% of the time, all is well, (and all is human ).

And when in serious leaning-mode, I've also learned that it's paramount to have at least one meal a week when you just enjoy whatever the hell you damn well want; it gives a much needed light at that sometimes seemingly endless tunnel of restriction.

We all do what works best for us, and if that's WW for you, then give it all ya got and congrats on making the changes you have thus far, Rachel.

Agreed. A calorie is a calorie, a gram of saturated fat is just that, processed food--no matter how low in carbs is still stuff out of the factory doors.

You can do yourself no better service than to bone up on all the facets of nutrition and nowhere in that vocabulary do these so called, "points" come into play.

Accountability is what you make it.

I've never done any kung fu, but perhaps you might just attach the watch to your waist belt? Or even to your bra; between the boobs might make for a safe no-contact zone where you can keep an eye on it?

I'm lucky too in that when I was growing up, "crap food" was simply NOT on the grocery list, not even white bread. Having chocolate or cake or candy IN THE HOUSE!?? Never.

Once in a blue moon, mom would do up pancakes on the weekend, or dad would go to the bakery for some apple fritters, but those times I can count on both hands over the span of a decade.

When I was a chubber, my problems were almost all portion-related, compounded by a very sedentary lifestyle, coupled with the folly of that freshly married "fat 'n happy" mentality. End result: 26 kgs of daily weight training and some major problems with the old chassis.

Well--I sure taught ME!

Don't forget the wonder food that is quinoa, it sports a surpising amount of protein for a plant, highest of all the grains in fact at around 15%. A real nice replacement for couscous in taboule'.

Cauliflower "fried rice" is awesome too. Just grate it up and pan-fry with minimal oil, a few drops of soy sauce and whatever other lo-cal seasonings you may dig.

Good on ya, Rose and all the best with eating right for life.

And CM, I've read that about soy and I agree that it's likely best to keep it as a once-in-a-while thing.

Keith, take a trip to Italy and order some bread to accompany your pasta--or risotto or polenta and be prepared to get theeeeee hairiest eyebrows ever, (and that's really sayin' something over there! ; ).

Congrats on your losses thus far and I agree about those portions; it's truly amazing when we realize how outta whack the portions were which got us to Chubville in the first place.

Bon ap!

No prob, Rose, just get in the habit of making cal-heavy foods for him and instead of joining in that fun, (for now), steam yourself up some nice veggies and grill up a chicken breast or a steak, or steam a nice fish filet, or a 4-egg-white-1-yoke omelette--then there's lentils, quinoa, bulgar wheat, you get the idearrr...

Start experimenting with lo-cal sauce alternatives too.

I cooked this way for hub the whole while I was dieting and it was a breeze.

And those curious can read more on "W.O.P." here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wop

So I thought I'd pipe in on behalf of all the other WOPS in the house and that is to say, "BREAD WITH PASTA?!?!?!" "Vergogna!!!" And when in diet mode to boot--really just a plain ole no-no.

Now I want pasta.

Hi, Clifford,

It's been a while since I posted here but I saw your thread and thought I'd throw in my 2 centiems:

What has been working for me for a long time now is eating the Warrior way; (which you likely know about already but for those who don't, it's basically eating nothing during the day, and then feasting like a caveman at night).

Luckily for me, I have no probs with blood sugar issues during the day; no lightness in the head, no weakness at all--in fact usually the opposite, energy to spare like a bunny.

Plus I LOVE the idea of really enjoying at night, free to max-chill after all the work of the day is done over some fine chow with the ones I love; helluva a cherry on the cake of the day.

There are those who will surely go on about the importance of breakfast and how one MUST eat little and often or they will, "go into starvation mode", but all I've gleaned is from actual experience and that is, in a nut shell: shedding 60 pounds of chub two years ago and keeping it off since.

I also periodically throw in intermittent fasting as a corrective measure, (after holidays, usually), but I know you don't wanna hear about that stuff, no matter how great it works.
