It's been a very long time since I have been on. But I am back. I haven't lost any weight but I haven't gained. So now its time to hit it hard again. I just got married on November 1st to an amazing man. Our honeymoon isn't until May so I would like to look nice by then. Truely my goal though is long term. If I don't lose it by then, thats ok. I'll keep pushing. Time will come no matter what I am determined to just use this time now to get healthy and live long. I already have a heart problem. I don't want my weight to hurt my heart more and take time off my life with my new husband.

I want to have a baby eventuatlly and I have many goals I want to do in my life that will need me being in fit shape to accomplish. I have joined weight watchers again and have found that I have been eating far too little. My calories were down to 1500 (per recommendation from my pcp) and I just think my body can't metabolize on that. So I'm going to give it a try, my work pays for it anyway. I still belong to 24 hour fitness and hope to continue to go and increase my workout routine. I also just bought a stand alone heavy bag and my husband is teaching me how to box.

I am really excited and wanting so badly to get healthy again. I hated the way I looked in my wedding pictures, but its done and over with. It was still an amazing wedding and it was just one day. My focus now is to get healthy and look good for the rest of our life together.

Ok so a lot of ranting but something I needed to get out. I hope some of the regulars are still here. I have missed you all and I'm happy to be back. Let's see if I can do it this time!

Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Good thread.. lets see what do I want to vent about today?... hrm....

Oh, ok.. I know.. I HATE that my doctor doesn't believe that I am working out and eating right and INSISTS that I am doing something wrong to not be able to lose weight... I am willing to accept ideas, suggestions as to other things I should try but hearing my PCP say "Well OBVIOUSLY you are STILL eating too much and are not working out enough"... Well OBVIOUSLY nothing! I understand some people aren't honest about this stuff but it's getting rediculous.

Also.. today to make things worse a doctor said "So.. how far can you walk before getting tired? 10 feet? 50 feet?" I was so offended... I just responded "I'm really not sure.. I run for 20 minutes fine and Jog quite a bit... I go up and down 6 flights of stairs 3 to 4 times a day... So I THINK i can handle 10 to 50 feet alright"... not exactly a compliment...

ok I do feel better now too.

Have any advice for training or for the Tri itself?! Would love to hear more about some of the things you learned.

Congrats again, you are just awsome!

confusing calories
Diet & Nutrition Tips

Spyke, I agree with what you mention. This caused me great confusion and right now I am kind of going against what most people believe in Traineo and other places. I was working out all the time.. according to calculators my BMR for losing some weight is right around 2000, plus I work out a ton. I was eating about 1600 to 1800 and I was gaining. I gained 70 lbs in a year! and 15 lbs in 2 of those months. My MD told me to increase work out and cut down to 1000 calories. This was extremely disconcerning to me as it went against everything I thought I knew about weight loss.

I ended up becoming a vegetarian again and my calorie count is now between 1000 and 1300 each day and my work out has increased and I am finally starting to lose weight, fat and gain muscle. I think my metabolism just isn't set up to follow most "calculators". As stated by others I think everyone is different and has different needs to stay healthy. So although most might think I am in startvation mode, I don't feel that is the case. I am losing fat not muscle, my engery levels have increased and I am getting stronger.

Thanks for bringing this topic up, I think it can be an eye opener for people to consider all options and find out what works for them.

Exercise Equipment and Obesity
Exercise & Training Tips
Posted: April 10, 2008
Now. I have to say I am technically Morbidly obese as my doctors tell me.. most people that see me, say they would NEVER even call my obese... obviously I know I need to lose weight but simple walking and stairs isnt' enough for me.

I think there IS a market for better equipment. Yes I can technically use the equipment at gyms but they make me nervous at times.... for my range I would say that you can even try making the same equipment just sturdier... For example... I love the treadmill.. but considering my weight I am too scared to "Run" on the treadmill or put it at too high of an incline, unsure if it can handle the bouncing weight of me trying to run...

It's devistating to get on a treadmill and try hard and want to run but hear it squeek or make any other noise. I have no idea if I am going to break it and if I'm just 275 to 280 I can't imagine how it feels for those that weigh more.

I also think bikes with a little bigger seats, I would go on the bike so much more but as I weigh more, my butt is bigger and the seat will start to really hurt. A larger seat alone would help me to stay at it longer.

I also feel that there would be a high market as those who need to lose weight are typically to intimidated (with good reason) to go to a gym or go outside... I say with good reason because in the past when I was even lighter but "appeared" heavier I was made fun of out side when trying to work out and at gyms. Some people out right say "She better be here longer than me with that fat ass" or "Don't walk or run out here, no one wants to see that" ... Is it right for people to say? No.. but unfortunatly some people do.

I think you are on to something with either full out equipment like this OR even assists that you might be able to add to other equipment.

All just my opinion Good luck!

My positive.. Well I have been gaining and gaining.. and finally 9 days ago I decided to become a vegetarian and cut my calories down to about 1000 to 1200... Some days I'm around 1500... Either way I have been doing really good and I have lost 9lbs in 9 days!!!!!

YAY! Lets hope I can just keep losing. I'm ok if it slows down but this is really exciting for me!

Heh thanks Sam, YES YES I can do this!

Cynthia - Thanks for the tips. I am trying hard to work my metabolism back, but for the moment I feel this is what I need to do. I took my measurements last night so I will be monitoring those closely as well. Plus I should have an appointment with my nutrionist soon.

As far as multiple meals. I really try to have a decent breakfast, then a midmorning snack, A medium lunch, a mid afternoon snack and then a smaller dinner. So hopefully that is helping too.
