Is the "Skinny Menu" wrong?
Off-Topic & General Chat
Posted: February 22, 2008
I'm plenty happy with my self-esteem and body and I order a skinny at Starbucks and the smallest size because I don't want a 700 calorie drink, I rather have a McD's kid combo for that!

I do have to admit I don't like them yelling out SKINNY MOCHA and then some people do turn around and look but let em look, cuz I am damned happy with the way I am and quite frankly, if I didn't check what went into my body, I would be fatter. I have gained weight by not caring and being a bit of a glutton so.. I do have to check.

Anybody who says they don't care either

1) have a great metabolism and is allowed to not care

2)trains so much they never really gain fat

3)is lying
Lose That Belly Fat! Here's How
Exercise & Training Tips
Posted: February 13, 2008
Ironically, sucking in your belly is not just something you do to temporarily look good -- it exercises the transverse abdominus muscles that lead to better posture and eventually a slimmer looking waist. So read up on the Stomach Vacuum and hop to it! Don't neglect your crunches or your lower back exercises either

actually that is my problem, I hardly have fat on my tummy now but it sticks out cuzI haven't been working on my TA... it's bad, but when I wait in the metro and bus with my heavy schoolbag, I stand up straight and workout my core.

I should start doing that again.
Pants shopping.

jean shopping is THE most difficult thing to shop for. I luckily found a jean store that is cheaper by saving on presentation and location and is amazing! the people really help and I always come out happy.. you should find out of there is a store like that somewhere in your area.

The Pros and Cons of Coffee Drinking
Diet & Nutrition Tips
Posted: January 17, 2008
I drink one cup of coffee a day, rarely two though when I worked in an office in the Summer, the coffee machine was readily available and I was so bored I was having 2-3 cups a day.

As long as you're not dependent... I just love the taste. I've loved coffee ever since I was like 5, if I was good I got one small spoon in my cup of milk. It was great. Now I get a full real cup cuz I'm a big girl now

my main meal is also during dinner, cuz I come home to yummy food from my mom.

lunch has been big too cuz it's usually leftovers from the previous nights yumminess... honestly my calories jump up and down all the time, which is good for the body (so it doesn't stabilize and get comfortable, keep it on the toes, so to speak)

usually though

breakfast:300

Lunch-500

Snack-150

Supper-700-800

Snack-200

total: 1700-1900 (the math here isn't right.. but it really depends on my day)

sometimes I have to chew 5 gums to make sure I don't go over my calorie intake

how to improve? HIIT

go slow.. start with ratios you can do and only do this workout once a week for starters, doing the regular long cardio for the two other times. Try smaller ratios like 30 second sprint, 1:30 fast walk or jog and when you feel comfortable with that, switch.

Right before winter, I had gotten up to 1:20 sprint to 40 second walk.. I might've even gotten to 1:30 to 30 and I did it with hand weights so when I walked.. my heart was still in the high 80s!
Cold zones on torso after running normal?

maybe the fat cells don't have as much blood running through them? seems to make sense..

but I get that too, my torso is cold.. which is strange since it is the core of the body..

Poll: How often do you work out?
Training Routines
Posted: January 14, 2008
i worked out everyday during Summer, during last semester I was working out 2-3 times a week

this semester I haven't found a routine yet and don't like my schedule because it only allows me to workout once a week (start early every other day) so I have been only been working out once a week so far, and getting into it post holiday isn't easy but I'll hopefully get a routine and force my butt to workout before the snow melts in a couple of weeks

bodybugg.. looks interesing I"m reading on it now.. from what I gather though you just put it in, clock in your info and it literally does the rest..

an HRM and dietician in one.

that's insane.. if that's how it is and works without you actually "doing anything"

also.. so that'ssssssss what they use on the biggest loser!

I do HIIT cardio and it's suggested to have a 1 day break in between.

Endurance cardio should be fine everyday if you average it to 45-1hr (I would think)
Cheat days?
Diet Plans
Posted: January 10, 2008
I actually don't have cheat days (though for 3 weeks holidays I had cheat weeks.. lol)

I just eat healthy and nutritious meals that make up most of my calories with snacks in between, most of the time it's not fruits or yogurts (though sometimes I have strange cravings to detox my body)

HOWEVER, my snack foods aren't all that bad. I eat Lindt 70% dark chocolate every single day and other random snacks consist of granola bars and 100 cal packs (that have some protein and fibre actually!) and at one point it was 100 cal chips and stuff.

All that satisfies me way enough. For the last 4 days I had cheesecake cravings, so I cut myself a small slice about 150 cals worth and dealt with it. Smaller forks and bites help me too, but I have a small mouth so it all works out for me anyways...

find the method that works for you. cheat days don't seem to be your thing so maybe you can disperse one small snack in your day and make sure it's snack size or something! like if you want coffee crisp, have a 100 cal coffee crisp instead of the near 300 cal one!
How often do you weigh?
Diet Plans

if you can deal with fluctuations and not get carried away with it and if it keeps you motivated, go for it.

but seems to be that you prefer to see trends rather than dwell on annoying fluctuations so stick to weekly.

Personally, I go weekly or twice a week (an in-betweener or two if I feel like it)

ya but 1lbs of muscle burns 30 cals extra a day. I don't know how much muscle xx lbs of muscle looks, especially when you lose weight.

Careful, just be sure to balance everything.

well I'd say mine is accurate because I have a Polar F11 where my height, age, fitness level and sex is all considered.

Though not to say you didn't work hard, but wit HIIT, doing 10-12 intervals reaching HR way over 90% and a HR never lower than 85% (even in the slower parts), the most I'll burn in a 35 minute period (including warm up and cooldown) is 350?

so it may not be that accurate. if you had a watch that took all elements into consideration, it'd be a different story. To be on the safe side, I'd say follow the Traineo one a bit more closely or if you want, you could look up calories burnt on the internet with all the info you have.. though that would be painfully long and tireseome.

keep working hard! you'll get HIIT in no time.

what you did in under a year (was it?) is truly amazing.

seriously take a look at what you've accomplished, it's amazing. If you have friends you haven't seenfor that while, they are in for a lovely surprise.

Now when you go to the beach, heads'll turn, but in a good way.
Negative Calorie Foods

if you're going to start counting all these baby calories, you're most likely to miss the real ones elsewhere.

Also if you're going to do this.. then you might as well count the calories you don't burn during your workout (as in calories that you would burn normally but aren't actually workout calories, it's confusing... I know but some people get what I mean)

I mean it's good to know that eating those foods are obviously better than say.. chips or whatever but don't really use those as tools to help you, cuz you'll be dissapointed. Unless you're on a celeri diet.

find quality foods, there has got to be foods that you love and resisted when dieting, like I dunno

nuts

peanut butter

dark chocolate

cheese

banana

all "high" calories and good quality and excellent nutrients for your body

start there, you'll probably have a post soon that'll say: help, can't control my calories anymore!

I know you've heard this before but a combo of cardio and weights will get rid of fat and give you muscle definition.

as for the why are you dieting blah blah blah? I've been down that path and I only had 1 friend that understood and didn't tell me not to pursue my goals.

I'm super happy with my body and myself right now and I'm still working hard to "perfect" myself (I know there are limitations) and just bettering myself in every way. The numbers aren't as big a deal now, as long as they don't go up too much so I stay around where I am.

keep up the good work, in the end, everybody may be jealous, do it for you!
