Oddly, I don't think I've noticed this before. I see it is 14 weeks till Christmas.. I could use the motivation cause I haven't had a significant loss since spring, and have in fact been having a bit creep back on over the summer.
Weighing in at 228.4 this week, if I can join in late.

Statistically, the faster you lose weight the more likely you are to put it back on. In your intro you mentioned that you lost 30 lbs fairly quickly when you were stressed. Less than a year later it is all back on. Now you want to lose weight quickly again and plan to eat 1200 calories a day to do so. I have no doubt that you will lose that weight by November if you can stick to 1200 calories a day, but will you be right back where you are again by the end of next summer? This is the weight loss teeter-totter that so many have been on including myself. If you put your statistics into the link I provided at the opening and play around a little you will find that your Basal Metobolic Rate is about 1600 calories, and the BMR of a 135 lb. woman is about 1500 calories. That means that if you were in a coma the hospital would feed you about that much to keep you from starving to death. If you are eating less than that you are starving yourself and eventually your brain will recognize that and make you feel famished so that you can't stop yourself from eating and craving to the point where you feel helpless watching the weight come back on. The way to break the cycle is to either stay heavy, or lose the weight slowly by eating a healthy amount of calories. According to the page you should be eating about 1750 on sedentary days and more on days you excercise depending on your activity. And not just as part of a short term diet, but for the rest of your life. Also, I have read that a healthy amount of weight to lose is no more than about 1% of your body weight per week or about 1.6 lbs per week. Of course you lose weight fast at first and then the closer you get to your goal the slower it comes, so you may want to temorarily lower your calories for awhile then. Complex natural foods are much better than simple processed foods. Of course all that is easier in theory than in practice which is why I'm still here. So good luck to you in your quest. |
