It's hot, how do I get motivation?

I am a native Floridian, I thrive in the heat and humidity. It is when the air is cool&dry that I suffer. Trying to do cardio in it makes my lungs burn, and I feel sluggish when it takes so long to sweat.
To motivate in the heat, I suggest just hydrating properly first, then stretch a bit, once you are perspiring well, get moving, and just don't do it in direct sunlight, because it'll definitely wipe you out, but fast!

17 year old determined to bulk up! Help?

Yep, 5x5 or Rippetoe's Starting Strength are the way to go. Compound movements FTW.
I am bulking now myself, and remember, you have to eat! Make sure you get enough calories, Here is a link to a good article about protein with a calculator for determining how much protein you might want to get every day as well URL , a men's multi-vitamin is a good thing too.
I recommend HIIT if you want to do cardio, so you don't burn up all those calories you need to eat.
Good luck!

My philosophy is: Whatever blows your hair back/skirt up/floats your boat.
Too many people take exception to anyone that doesn't live the way they do. Perhaps because they are confronted with having to evaluate their own choices? I don't know, I just have more pressing concerns than what food choices another human makes.
Eat or don't eat whatever you like, I for one, will not judge you for it.

I like American Whey taste the best of the 5-6 brands I've tried. Only 20g per scoop, but it doesn't have the fat and cholesterol like some others do. Plus it is only $138 for 25lbs, so cheap enough to add a little extra to the shake.

Concentrated Workout vs Pull-ups - HELP!

Here is a great guide to everything pull-ups and chin-ups. URL
I just started doing these a couple months ago myself. I use the plan of 75 total pull-ups 75 total chin-ups every week. Seems it is ok to do the 75 reps any way you need to, but that the Strong Lifts 5x5 i.e. 5 sets of 5 reps, 3 days a week is the preferable method.
I'm almost ready to add weight for chin-ups 5x5, but my pull-ups are still sloppy so I have a ways to go on those yet.
BTW, good luck with your goal! I think if you use that guide, and get in the pull-ups every week, you will be able to do one set of 15 reps by August for certain!
Here is a direct link to the pull-up strength building plan URL
Take care.

Last night was bad-4 x reheated frozen Fried Flounder fillets=Nasty! I shouldn't have indulged in Vodka, I'll eat really unhealthy crap under its influence. The wife bought them, but no one twisted my arm to eat them.
So, this morning huge bowl of Cheerios+skim milk, 24oz 3 scoop protein shake. I still feel miserable from eating that garbage last night though. My body is really letting me know that wasn't cool.

The music is definitely a big help IMO as well, make a good play list of high energy stuff, and it'll get you pumped.
prasad deole,
Check out strong lifts 5x5 URL
You might want to stop the long-distance cardiovascular exercise if you want to gain some lean mass, if you aren't an endurance athlete or want to be, as it creates a catabolic state. Catabolic processes break down. High impact interval training aka HIIT would be a better cardio choice for mass gain, as it is more anabolic, and anabolic processes build.
I've been told a simple example is to look at the difference in the builds of marathon runners and sprinters. Both are great, you just need to decide which body type you prefer and train appropriately.

Quoting: lglcctj Mark, why are you trying to gain weight? Do you have to be in a certain weight class for something? No sir. I started doing weight and strength training regularly a few months ago, and have managed to gain 13lbs while getting rid of my spare tire gut. Many years of different sports and activities never yielded these kind of results, so I am kind of Gung-Ho right now.

I saved my eleventy billionth Turtle from getting crushed by traffic this morning. I live in Central Florida, U.S. and there is water everywhere here. I love it when the people I have road blocked look at me with that, "you hippy tree hugger!* look for holding them up to help a turtle get across the road.

I've been eating like a horse, trying to get to 260lbs before the year is out. Currently 247lbs, managed to at least temporarily add a couple pounds in one day, thanks to-
Spaghetti&meatballs( Mulit-grain Pasta and homemade grass fed beef based Meatballs)
I had a 4 egg omelet (cage-free organic) with 4oz Turkey breast, a 1/4cup colbyjack 2% + 1 onion bagel this morning. I drink 2-3 24oz protein shakes every day now too. American Whey Double dutch chocolate with skim milk. Yum Yum!
Lunch will be left-over spaghetti, dinner will be grilled center cut pork loin chops, black-eyed peas, and fresh, raw, corn-on-the-cob.

I just got serious about weight training for lean mass gain a couple months ago. However, I have been active in sports most of my life. The last 5yrs or so, energy level, stamina, and recovery after exercise have been real issues for me though.
But the real trouble started when I nuked my left knee pretty good almost 2yrs ago in a mountain bike crash, which resulted in me putting on a bit of a spare tire. Well, my diet and regular activities weren't getting rid of the tire. My body just wasn't responding like it did when I was younger.
After a lot of reading, I decided to start taking supplements a few months ago. Here is my present list-
Men's multi-vitamin
Fish oil caps
Flax oil caps
1000mg Vitamin C tabs with bioflavonoids
Whey protein shakes *mixed with skim milk*
Creatine Monohydrate
My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. My energy level, stamina, and recovery are better than they have been in over a decade. Strength is growing well too, but I can't really compare that since I wasn't serious about the strength training before starting my current routine.
Since starting the supplements and hitting the weights 3-4 days a week with a decent plan, I've lost much of the tire, while gaining 11lbs. Haven't changed my diet aside from adding the supps and the protein shakes.
So, I joined Traineo so I can track my own progress, and joined this group to get and give support and motivation to keep working on our goals.
