First off, hello to everyone here.

Now, I weighed myself last night at 339 pounds for the first time on my new scale. I weighed myself tonight (lightly under 24 hours time difference), and it shows my weight to be 335.9. Granted, I've never really taken the steps to weigh myself, but this just seems off to me. I have changed my diet completely in the past 3 days, and on both have had a smoothie with a fat metabolizing supplement, but can I really lose some initial weight that quickly?

Losing water, having less food left in your system, different clothes (assuming you're not nekkid)... Many things will make your weight fluctuate from day to day. Plus, the scale is only so accurate and some actually will vary from second to second (I've hopped on and off mine and gotten slightly different numbers... one crap scale gave me huge differences when doing that.) so it's not surprising to see 4 pounds in a day.

Weigh yourself consistently every day and track your weight... it's not the day to day, it's the overall trend that matters. Usually the best time/way to weigh is in the morning, after elimination and before any intake. It's usually the most consistent way to do it, and you're usually lightest in the morning.

It's totally possible to lose 4 lbs. in a day. I have made mention before that I ate bad for a whole day a while back, gained tenlbs. (from morning to night), woke up the next morning workred out came home, lost 8 lbs. So bodies are funny that way, also if you #2 once or twice that's easily (for a large man like yourself, and I) anywhere form 2-6 lbs. really. So you're good man, enjoy it revel in it and keep it up.

I've been drinking the smoothie without the supplement for almost a year, because it tastes great. With the supplement, I can't even taste it at all, which is a big plus.

I know what you mean. On Christmas Eve i weighed 116 lbs and on christmas morning I weighed 111....talk about a good Christmas present! lol Your weight totally depends on the amount and types of food you've eaten in the past 24 hours and the type of scale can make your weight change rapidly.

When I started traineo last week, I was weighing myself before bed and I was 148lbs but every morning I was 144lbs. I decided to start using my morning weight as my tracker instead, who wouldn't! I have heard that as well, that it's best to use your morning weight.

I agree with above posters. You'll lose water weight first, especially if you're eating less sodium (salt makes you body retain more water). If you're eating healthier, your body will start to detox itself from crap that's in your system and that will make you drop weight as well. And if you're exercising it can do the same in the beginning as your body adjusts.

Although studies have shown that people who weigh themselves daily are less likely to put the weight back on, I suggest that you choose one day a week to track your weight loss over time. Weigh yourself at the same time of day and you should have more accurate results, even if you think your scale is wacky.

If you lost 4 pounds in 1 day you need to go to a doctor. They thing that would happen would be that you did not have as much water in your system and/or you didn't eat enough. You really need to drink as close to 2 liters of water as you can. That will help your overall fitness.

This week I start a 45 min. strengthening and tonig class for Seniors.

Wish me luck.

For a guy your (and previously my) size, Cory, that's definitely reasonable. As pointed out, you can easily drop a pound or two with a single bowel movement, a half-pound per urination, etc., so while you likely didn't lose 4 pounds of fat, losing 4 pounds of water and waste, along with some fat, is more than fine.

And Donna, good luck! You may want to start a new thread rather than replying to this one (Cory's thread about losing 4 pounds in a day) so people will see it more easily.

Good luck!!!! :-D You'll do awesome!!! Way to go on the mile in 20! I'm trying to get back on my 3.6 miles in under and hour again. I haven't done my walking in sooo long. So, today, my goal is at least 1 1/2 miles.
