I am hooked on everything Diet Coke! Just curious if anyone has tried Diet Coke Plus or Diet Coke with Splenda...

Jeff, Have you had any luck with weaning down the DCs? If so, how'd ya do it? I drink 'em like water.

Coke Zero is good.

I'm trying to cut the habit though.

I drink diet coke like water too. Does anyone know how drinking such a massive amount of diet coke influences the body? (Other than the caffeine bit.)

I take my question back. I just found this link on one of the effects of just one can of diet soda.

I'm still trying to completely get off of diet soda entirely. In the last couple of months, instead of getting a huge fountain drink, I am starting to get a bottle instead. I'm also mixing it up a little bit. Sometimes a Coke Zero, Diet Pepsi, Diet 7Up or Fresca.

I just came back from a 2 week vacation where I only had a glass of diet soda every few days. I was at an "all inclusive" resort and I did the substitution plan... every time that I would want a Diet Coke, I drank a fruity alcoholic slushy type of drink. Of course that isn't the best way to go because I will probably be "wearing" those calories for the next month, but when I came back, I didn't get those caffeine headaches that I would get when I have tried to go cold turkey.

Personally I think that everything is truly coming together for me to finally quit for good.

Number 1: I feel like a Dork when I can't "walk my own talk" about diet soda.

Number 2: We are just getting ready to record a show right now where we are answering a question about diet soda and I have been reviewing all of the negative things that it does.

Number 3: I had my teeth cleaned last week and they asked if I was a coffee drinker because my teeth are showing staining.

Number 4: The link from A C above is pretty powerful.

So John, why don't we set up a challenge with each other (or anyone else who wants to join in). How about going 100 days without a diet soda starting August 1? That gives us a little while to wean ourselves down a bit.

Diet Coke with splenda is good. I'm a big fan of the zero sodas - they're all good - Mr. Pibb Zero, Coke Zero & etc.

I don't think I can go 100 days without a diet soda. Could we start with a month first?? That's do-able I think.

I'm trying to ween myself from diet sodas too. I've finally acquired the taste of Diet Green Tea & the diet lemonades. This way I can get my water in as well.

Hmm...I don't think I could go more than 2 days without a diet soda, lol. For now, I am just going from 6 or so a day down to 2. That is good enough for now. Once I conquer that beast I will work on one a day. I don't think I will ever completely rid myself of coke, but I think one a day can be part of a healthy lifestyle.

Ok Jeff. I am in. Starting August 1 no diet sodas. This is going to be tough! Really tough.

This might save me a bit of money!

Today was a rough day with sodas for me. I should probably join this challenge, lol.

Although I won't. I would join a 1-2 per day one though.

John, Jeff et al.

I am taking the plunge. From 1-2 liters per day to ZERO for 100 days (and heck, why any after that?). There's too many reasons to give it up and just not enough to keep the habit. Count me in on the 100 day challenge (starting the 4th after my holiday weekend -- yikes, I better drink up!

Honestly, I would take the plunge with you, but since I have given up beer, the only time I would need coke is if I am out and get a diet coke with rum or something. I don't think I could give up alcohol completely for 100 days as well.

I'll tell you what, I will join this challenge, except mine will be:

NO SODA FOR 100 DAYS UNLESS IT HAS LIQUOR IN IT, lol.

Curious... what do you think your addiction to it is? The fizz? The taste? The caffiene?

I believe, based mostly on personal experience, but also on some things I have read, that aspertame itself is highly addictive and very bad for you - your brain, your general health and especially your weight loss efforts. Please everyone just quit. Whatever it takes, quit. I did it and it was hard, but I haven't had any aspertame (and be careful, it is hiding in a lot of things!) since March. And if you hear your inner voice say, "but I can't possibly eat pizza (or whatever other food) without Diet Coke!", think again what you are saying!

I have a delicious real root beer, dr pepper or coke once a month or so. Only about 150 calories, no fat, tasty.
