Tonight I watched Paul McKenna's show on TLC called "I Can Make You Thin" and am intrigued by the concept and plan on following this show and the methods that are being taught in it.
I signed up on the www.mckenna.com site tonight and was checking out the forums, but the first thing I noticed about their site was there (currently) is no way to track your weight or anything, so I immediately thought of Traineo and decided to create a group here.
I hope others that decide to follow this plan will use this group for support. My intent is not to take away from the Paul McKenna website, but to supplement it here with the tools that Traineo offers.
I'm just an average guy, and I have nothing to do with Paul McKenna, his website, or any of his products (or TLC for that matter). Just wanting to provide something on Traineo for people to use the Traineo tools along with this system, and maybe grow a side community for it here.

WOW. I hadn't heard of this man until your link here, Mike and I have to say he brought tears to my eyes a number of times, particularly on that show "I can change your life", where he's working with that blind man. Undescribabley beautiful.
I think that if you want to lose weight using his techniques it can only be a good experience and I wish you the very best on your journey back to health.
Thanks for sharing this gifted man with us here!
And of course, welcome to traineo.

Hey Mike - welcome to Traineo. I only caught the last 5 minutes of the show, but wanted to check out more about what this guy did. I liked what I saw of his plan, other than I didn't like what looked like fake audience participation. It looked more like an infomercial from the audience participation.
I am very interested on what the guy stands for though and will probably check it out more just to see. I think he was right on from what I saw.

Yes the show on TLC does have an Infomercial feel to it (Paul even says at the beginning of the show at least once that this is NOT an infomercial, so I think he even knew it looked and felt that way). Like most things on TLC the show will be repeated numerous times this week so catch one of the repeats (or use BitTorrent to go pull down the show from mininova or someplace).
Apparently (from reading TLC's website at www.tlc.com/thin) this is a 5 part show. But as Minu mentioned just check YouTube for more videos and all. Well worth watching IMO and I'm looking forward to the other 4 episodes (I'll probably view the videos on his website in the next few days to get a jump on things though).

Well, here I am to start tracking my weight. As with others, I have tried about every diet out there with varying degrees of success. The thing I like most about this program so far is that it makes you focus on what you are eating. I usually run through my day grabbing stuff as it is available. I never really think about what I am eating (except maybe to feel guilty). This morning was my first meal eating "consciously." We'll see...
Good luck to all.

In general, I think it's safe to say that we could up the "conscious anty" on everything we do in life. With IPODS and TVs and computers and video games, it's a rare bird indeed that stops to smell the roses, let alone the staleness of a house that never opens its windows.

Quoting: Minu let alone the staleness of a house that never opens its windows.
Wow, you hit that on the head... I love spring (still not quite there here in Colorado, as we have snow today ) when I can actually start opening windows and allowing fresh air inside...
My breakfast a little while ago was my first attempt at this. Maybe its mental (of course isn't everything mental when it comes to deprogramming obsessions around food and such), but just putting down the spoon as I ate my cereal, I used my usual large bowl, and filled it how I normally do. I actually dumped part of it out and I feel just fine right now. Normally I will eat the entire bowl, and refill it one or two times on top of that (and then usually fell bloated until lunch time)...
Whats also funny is this morning I realized the cereal I ate had almonds in it. Never had tasted them before (and I've been eating this cereal for many months)...

Mike, that's a riot that you didn't know your cereal had almonds! Not a judgement at all, but it does make me wonder how much of what I eat would taste better if I actually paid attention to it!
Eating on the run is a bad habit that I've gotten into, and didn't really notice until I was watching ICMYT last night.
I wonder if I really like what I eat

Minu- You are so right about the consciousness aspect. I have been reading Eckhart Tolle's book, "A New Earth." It is all about living in the NOW - Being conscious of what you are thinking and experiencing and realizing that this present moment is life. I think this McKenna plan is an extension of how we should be living our lives on all fronts.

Hi there,
I am a 32 year old female from Nova Scotia, Canada.
I am not severely overweight, in fact would only like to lose about 15 lbs, however, my problem lies more in the area poor eating behaviour. I often eat in front of the television, and if not there, then I always have something to read. Eating breakfast this morning, slowing down, looking at my food, resting my knife and fork, no distractions? I couldn't believe how different of an experience eating became for me.
Good Luck to everyone

Paul McKenna specializes in hypnosis to aid self-improvement.
If you're suffering from depression that paralyzes and impedes your attempts to become healthy and fit, or are having trouble kicking bad habits then hypnotherapy may help.
A lot of the other principles he uses appear to be from cognitive behavioral therapy.
It would be nice to combine someone with McKenna's charisma with Dawn Huebner for her therapy skills and Tom Venuto for his solid fitness knowledge. I hope a producer from TLC reads this thread.
