How about some advice for a guy who is motivated and currently trying to go from the couch to the 5K.

How much running should I do to start? How long?

Should I be discouraged that I am doing more walking than running at the moment?

I am also (fairly) new to Couch to 5K.

The original workout plan on Couch to 5K can be found here:

http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

It lays out a program of building up your running/walking ratio.

Should you be discouraged that you are doing more walking than running? Of course not. You are making a change and looking to improve your health. There is absolutely nothing to be discouraged about there. Everybody has to start somewhere, and that is what makes this program such a big hit. It smartly lays out a way to build up and get to the goal without hurting yourself along the way.

Stick with it and in no time you will see that ratio change, and of course that will be very encouraging to see and feel.

Good Luck!

Thank you for posting the original plan - I'm new to Traineo and am surprised at how many of the challenges don't actually detail what is involved IN the challenge!

Good luck to all!
