This guy is amazing. From nearly 500 lbs down to 200 lbs in 2.5 years, and now look at him!

Wow, I'm amazed by this. There's a section on his page about a book called "Fit For Life" and "food combining" intrigued me, anybody else tried this or heard anything about it?

320 lbs out of high school -- despite his mom being health conscious, and his sister a nutritionist. He tried Weight Watchers as a kid, and Herbalife.

I think what strikes me most about the way he tells his story is not many people talk about the social impact of being obese in as vivid a manner as he does. Getting called to the principal's office, having someone put a bra on his locker, having old childhood friends disown him, driving from donut shop to donut shop because he was too embarassed to buy too much at one place, etc.

I first heard of food combining from Don Lemmon (Asia Carrera's late husband) but I never knew it had such a following.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that very inspiring story. I especially enjoyed the last pic. It always amazes me that the body can adjust itself to the abuse we put it through and then bounce back when we choose a healthy lifestyle.

Jack, I started following the "lifestyle of healthy eating" outlined by Harvey Diamond in his Fit for Life book and went from 260 to under 200 in about a year.

Most of it stayed off except when I went back to my old ways; however, once I got back on track, I felt a lot better. Sure felt good to go from a tight 36 to a loose 34 (hoping to one day fit back in a size 32 pair of jeans).

I have read the Fit for Life food combining books... I kinda veered off of them, though, when the second book mentioned that having sex often was bad for your health.

WTF?

Okay, I know, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater....

What reasons did the book cite?

It quoted an older health book, titled Back to Eden, written by a rather conservative, I would consider repressed gentleman, in an era when sex was considered to be a necessary evil in some circles.

Dr Strangelove, anyone?

I first became aware of it, Mandrake, during the physical act of love...Yes, a profound sense of fatigue, a feeling of emptiness followed. Luckily I-I was able to interpret these feelings correctly. Loss of essence. I can assure you it has not recurred, Mandrake. Women, er, women sense my power, and they seek the life essence. I do not avoid women, Mandrake...but I do deny them my essence.
