I have had the good fortune to be able to obtain a standing desk in my office, which means that I don't spend all day sitting on my backside as I work. I would highly encourage anyone to see what they can rig up to do the same, if at all practical. Honestly, I can't imagine going back to spending the day sitting ever again.

For me, I think I burn even more, because I don't stand still. I move about a fair amount behind my desk.
