Hi Guys,

Very happy to see most folks are doing so well.

I have been JUDDDing steady for 4 weeks and have gone from 162lbs to 150lbs. My heels have stopped hurting, I have more energy, I fit into clothes I have'nt worn in at least one year, and I look great!

Both my daughters are also 'doing it' and are doing very well!

I live in Kenner LA. and just happen to know a very nice lady who works for Dr. Johnson. I also had Dr. Johnson do my first botox injections about 5 years ago, then followed that a couple years later with several sessions of thermage. He is a wonderful physician and very dedicated to helping people feel good about themselves and getting healthy.

This 'very nice lady' has also been close to our family for many years. About 3 years ago, she came to my daughters' baby shower, looking all nice and slim and trim! She told me Dr. Johnson had taken a year off to write this book, and how she followed the plan herself.

I did try it then, but I guess I was'nt 'getting it'. Well, now, 3 years later, she is even more slim and trim and blonde and beautiful. She is our inspiration for sure! I did all my own research, and I do 'get it' now! And we are all 3 doing it, and it is not a fad diet, like Ms. STARFLY is suggesting. So don't let Miss Debbie-Downer get ya'all down. I will be kind and just say she must have some issues none of us will understand and simply wish her the best. Although I gotta tell you I really am ticked that she called all this a 'fad', she's the one who 'inspired' me to write and do my crab-crab! (I hate typing! LOL!)

Best luck to all of you guys!

oh lol you all crack me up. You take such offense to where there should be none taken. I have no issues other than needing to lose some weight, I have a great life, a wonderful husband, and an amazing son, so if needing to lose a little weight is my only issue then ill take it. Im sorry if you all feel the need to be on the attack if someone disagrees with your way of thinking. But i have never purposly tried to discourage anyone. So i called it a fad diet, get over it. It wasnt said just to tick anyone off, it was my opinion, as well as a few others who have posted thier opinons of JUDDDD but dont see you getting all rawled up over thier comments. And please dont let me get you down, cause that is not what i have tried to do.

Welcome Wanita, How nice to have someone on the inside track. Do you have any idea when this book will come out? Is he writing it now? I am absolutely amazed at the success of this diet for me for basically one reason - this is the one diet I can stick with, come back to ( after vacation), and feel like I can do it forever!!!!!!! Any diet will work if you stick to it and then keep it going to some degree once the weight is lost. I haven't found that until now!!! This is not a fad - it is a way of life!!

Hi there,

You are not the first naysayer on this thread and we did get all "rawled up" with the others too! LOL But I must say, you are one of the kindest. You have made it clear it is not working for you and wished us well.

I think it kinda spices things up and makes us think about the diet more deeply when we have it questioned. We have become quite bonded and do get a little defensive and testy - but I think that goes with the territory whenever you are passionate about anything!!!

I admire you for continuing to post. Those of us who have been at it long term, might be a little jumpy about the word " fad diet". I am realizing they are all "fads" south beach, weight watchers, etc.etc. What is popular and being talked about at the time is considered a "fad". I do think JUDD will as with Weight watchers pass the "fad stage" and become a long term solution to many who struggle with weight and food issues.

Starla,

It sounds like you are doing well. I am taking a break from JUDDDD for at least a week, and also trying to just watch what I eat. I think JUDDDD is great, but in the end, it may not be for me because I have a binge eating problem. For those who don't have this problem, it can be a very easy and freeing way to lose weight, as evidenced by the successes chronicled here. Apparently there are other reasons why it doesn't work for some people besides my reason, since you said you were eating healthily on the up days. I know some people find the down days too hard.

Anyway, I still feel like a JUDDDDer for the moment, so I just wanted to say that no one means any offense. People are very enthusiastic about this diet, and thus are sensitive to any perceived slight. In the end, we all have the same goal, to lose weight and be healthy, but may take different paths. I hope you continue to do well with your current strategy.

I was attacked over on Spark people. This girl would not leave me alone. Starla, you are not like this girl. She, too, called it a fad diet and she made other posts about it being bulimic, eating up my internal organs and on and on. I finally got tired of it and told her she was such an antagonistic person and why couldn't she just let it go. At that point the moderator came and pulled the posts. I apologized but she posted that she didn't see why her comments were pulled. If you look at her picture she seems to be just what I think she is. I do not care what diet people are on. Different things work for different people, what I do care about is someone trying to tear down my diet.

The point of these forums is to encourage each other, not tear each other down....

Yes, thank you for saying that, Marie. Let's move on, JUDDDD buddies. Onward and downward, that is!

Hi Suesue T. Gosh, I really wish I had a time line on Dr Johnsons' book, but I just don't know. I'll see what I can dig up and let ya know.

I am so excited to hop on my scale this AM and see 149.4, for the first time since Katrina hit New Orleans. I use to 'hang' in the mid-140s prior to all this upset. I had cake for breakfast, I always do on Sunday mornings, and slipped into my skinny jeans. Life is good!

I was diagnosed with MS 7 years ago, but I'm still working as a massage therapist, and have a practice in Louisiana and one in Tucson. (Actually I had symptoms of MS in 1993, while I was working at Tulane Hospital, did'nt know it was an exacerbation, and here I am in the medical field... dumb..so I'm many years into this). I need energy, which this disease robs from a gal !! I find my DDays give me a big boost in energy, so I don't need to take Provigil to keep me going. Both my girls get the same boost.

I hope other people feel just as good on the DD, plus, it's so much easier to do now than it was in the begining, those DDs I mean.

So, everyone stay happy and healthy and post how you are doing. Many people walk a tight rope when it comes to following a plan like this, and negative words can push some folks over to the 'dark side', questioning the path they have taken. The more positive input, by far the better! And I just love to read any hints and secrets about our program! So, keep it all coming!

Toodles!

I heard of this site on www.judddd.com forums and thought I would join up. I'm also on my-calorie-counter.com. Today is down day numero uno for me on judddd. I'm almost through it, just "dinner" to go. I'm sticking to the "only shakes" for the first two weeks regimen. I think it will be a lot easier to not overconsume by accident. I've been at a plateau with my weight loss for about a month now. I lost five pounds when I initially started watching calories three months ago, but now I'm just stuck. This diet makes sense to me, and I think it's something I'll be able to stick with. Some have said they could see this diet wreaking havoc on metabolism, but I think if anything it sounds like it would increase metabolism. We shall see if this works for me or not.

I have finished my first official down day without giving in, fainting or ceasing my work out routine = success! I"m excited to weigh in tomorrow, but I'm not expecting to lose after one day. I'll be thrilled if I do and just fine if I don't. I'm definitely looking forward to my up day tomorrow...mmm food!

If I have a weight loss tomorrow I will post it. If not, I'll post my total loss next Wednesday!

Welcome, Kayla! Great to have you here!

I think everybody who sticks with it for a while would say that it doesn't have any sort of negative effect on the metabolism. You're still consuming adequate calories over the course of a week to maintain body functions. You just are eating the calories in a different pattern than you're used to. For example, if you're a woman in your forties and you fluctuate between 2,000 and 500 calories every other day, it still averages out to 1250 per day. That's not starving.

The nice thing is that Dr. Johnson has provided a calculator at his website that will help you determine what calories to aim for. Most people don't need to worry about up day calories at first--but those who have more weight to lose may need to watch calories (or at least watch the types of calories you consume--more fruit, less burgers!) on up days.

Hi everyone!

I'm new here. I haven't started the diet yet JUDDD, but I'll do it soon (sorry for my mistakes in English, I'm a spanish speaker...) Well, I decided to make my "Downdays" Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and the rest of the days, "Updays"....I have several questions about it.... The first day of the diet will be or must be an "Upday" or a "Downday" which one? and how many days of the week should be "Updays" and "Downdays" I mean, 3 downdays? 4 downdays? 5 Updays? as an example....

Hopefully, you will give me the answers...thanks a lot!!!

Tomorrow, after dinner, I will buy the shakes and a lots of veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean meats, etc. to start the diet on Saturday...

Kayla - welcome and congrats on your weight loss after only 1 day! I'm one that no matter what program I have tried, my weight loss stops after 5-7 lbs. I've lost 8 so far and am hoping more by my weigh in on Saturday. I'm beginning to wear clothes that haven't seen the light of day in forever and am enjoying seeing my shrinking self in the mirror!

Sandra - welcome! It doesn't matter which day you start on. When I found this thread, I read it on a Monday and Tuesday and started it on that Wednesday. My down days are M/W/F with the other days being UDs (Sunday is a medium day).

Good luck to you both!
