I've made a real effort to hit my target calories every day -- and burn at least 3500 cal a week.. been doing that for 2 weeks, and my weight keeps going up. I weigh more now than i did the week i was going out to dinner and partying every night.

I'm telling myself to just keep doing everything i should be and hopefully it will start going down, but I really can't explain the weight gain and feel like i need to make changes or i'm going to be stuck here for weeks.

Hang in there, Alison. I know you didn't need to hear that, but you've taken 50 pounds off your body. Allow it to regroup and realize it needs to continue. I'm assuming you know what you're doing, if you've already had such a significant weight loss. Make sure you're eating enough calories to fuel the engines and I'm sure the weight loss will continue. How are your clothes fitting?

Check out Army Chick in Training's profile. She went an entire year without any weight loss, but her shape changed totally!

Myself - I had a plateau of about one year. I kind of gave up and gained some weight, so now I'm losing that again. Please don't repeat what I have done. You're on the right path. Just follow it along and you'll get to your destination. Just make sure you're eating enough calories.

The only advice I can come up with is that you could probably drink some more water (maybe it's water weight that's going up?) or fiber up (eat more veggies and stuff or buy fiber to add to your yoghurt or salad). I'm actually in the same place as you, and trying to figure out what is wrong Good luck!

Also, one other thought - have you reworked your BMR since your weight loss? That might be out of whack.

Hey Alison, you have made some great progress!
Ok so you're working your butt off and gaining weight?
What kinds of exercise are you doing?
you say you're doing 3500 calories a week, i'm assuming that's like 700 / 5 days right? Is that cardio? Resistance?
HIIT?

What's your diet like? Are you drinking a lot of water?
Feel free to PM me, i know its a lot of questions

Matt, I do a little bit of everything exercise wise. Weight train 3 times a week, then do aerobics classes or some other type of cardio the other days -- and I count the hour i walk to work each day. So I'm usually doing something every day.

I think I could definetly increase my water intake. While I've been eating the right amount of calories, but probably too much fat (but that's not out of the ordinary)

Allison also keep in mind, that as your weight drops the amount of calories you burn doing the exact same things drops too. Aggravating as hell that it now takes 2 hours to burn that 600-800 calories, when it used to be an hour. Also your recommended calorie intake should go down as well, mine went from 1800 to lose to now 1400 to lose.

Good news overnight one day last week I dropped 4 lbs. and kept losing after that, so I'm about back on schedule. I'm going to chalk it up to water weight, but I'm also trying to mix it up a little now. I think maybe my body was getting to use to the same calories each day. Gonna try a little up day down day for a few weeks and see how that goes, but i'll still keep with the exercise.
