Union Tri - My first

Ended up in the hospital. But I finished.Passed a person on the swim, another on transition, another on bike. Mile 4, three dogs run out and snap at my tires, and I flip over one. Bleeding all over the place, and thinking I broke my collar bone, I get up, fix my chain, and finish the race. It was all terrible times, except for the swim, and I couldn't get back in the arrow bars or change out of my spinning gear (no pressure on left side). But I FINISHED, doggone it. And I got another comi...

How much protein?

I keep reading around here you should get .5g/lbs bodyweight, and I get the same thing when I google. But while reading BFFM, it says 1g/lbs, and hardcore bodybuilders take 1.25g/lbs. I personally have been taking at least 1g/lbs and it's worked out fine but my priority is to lose fat now, and it's hard to have meals where it has at least 20g protein without being high in calories.

Well I purchased my first Mountain Bike today. I bought a Trek in New Hampshire and am really excited to get started biking. I plan to put a lot of miles on this bike and figure it is an excellent tool to help me in my weight loss and training. Definitely excited!

Best Summer Ever! (60lbs, 35 to 25%)(PICS)

So last september something finally clicked in my head. It wasn't a single turning point event, but I knew I wanted to change and was looking forward to the challenge - I started to view my body as a piece of clay which I had the power to sculpt however I wish.I started in Sept at 19 years old, 271lb and atleast 35% BF and am now 209lb 25% BF. This took a whole lifestyle change, one I'm absolutely enjoying right now. My eatings healthy - I've been seeing a nutritionist and altho...

Sinking into darkness...

I am having a major problem right now. i seem to be sinking into another dark depression. i have been fighting this illness since i was 12 and i know the signs. This comes with two problems: 1) i am an emotional eater and though i have been resisting and when i can't keep what i am eating healthy as possible i know i am eating more than i should be and the deeper i get the worse it will get. 2) motivation goes out the window and so does the ability to work out. even know though i do it mos...

Wisdom Tooth removed eating about 500 calories a day?

Hey guys 1 week and 2 days now since I've had my wisdom teeth removed. I have been eating only clear soups, yogurt, and other soft foods (bananas, mashed potatoes, etc). I've been taking a Men's One-A-Day multivitamin also. I'm also drinking about 5-7 glasses of water a day. I figure I'm eating about 500-700 calories a day now. I have noticed I have dropped 8 pounds in the 1 week & 2 days. I know most of this is water weight. What else can I do to add more calories b...

Here I am again

I joined this site about 2 years ago. I use to post often (haven't been on here in MONTHS though), I had a lot of good advice for people. I have read as much as I can get my hands on about weight loss, being healthier in general. I can pretty much tell you most of what there is to know about eating healthy, exercise, etc. BUT, I have only lost about 5 pounds since I joined almost 2 years ago (and I chalk that loss up to getting off the depo prevera shot)! I plan, I journal, I know what...

Hardcore pushups + fat ?

I'm 5' 11" and 278 pounds (# in going down!) so I have a lot of flab. I'm doing lots of cardio, but I was wondering if I should do a hardcore pushup program (was looking at 100pushups in 6weeks: http://hundredpushups.com/)? I'm not sure because I always hear about if you have lots of fat and you do a lot of muscle training you'll end up with layers of fat on top of layers of muscle on top of layers of fat, etc. Should I just stick to lots of cardio and light weigh...

Work out DVD's

My coach recommended that I work out for 20 minutes in the morning before breakfast every day to get my metabolism high and then eat 6 times throughout the day to keep it high. So I'm trying to find an awesome work out DVD that is 20 to 30 minutes in length.William recommends 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels. And it looks awesome, except that the background music is really annoying. Plus I'd really just like to compare a few before I purchase. So anybody else have any recommend...
