dieting is one of the worst possible ways of putting this.....it's more of a lifestyle, there is no need to "diet" if you follow a healthy lifestyle and meal plan. No need to count every calorie, every bit of protien or every carb.....3 simple steps.....1. stay away from deep fried foods, just dont eat them. 2. Eat 3 reasonable meals a day with a small snack in between each. 3. get regular exercise.
check out my site if you would like....http://www.techshooting.net/training.html

There's some good information at your site, and I have bookmarked it for further reading at a later date.
I do feel that the colours and fonts could use some adjusting, some of the pages can be painful on the eyes.

I'm a 23 year old FFB (former fat boy). I'm a grad student at the Univ. of Phoenix. I was married on June 1st, 2007 by a wonderful supportive woman.
I have always been the fat kid so now I've changed that. I started at 305. I lost 80 pounds and was at 225 after I was sick. From Jan 07 to Apr 07, I put on 25 pounds. I then started to lose weight again, but started doing it the right way. I am now 235 and leaner than I was at 225. I'm going to see how close I can get to a 6 pack, but eventually I'll start trying to put on some muscle. Then lean out again.
Six-Pack would be awesome, I've never had one of those. So we'll see. (my photo is me at 305lbs. when i get a good pic of me now at my current weight, i'll post it)

When people ask me why I'm "still dieting" (becasue I've been eating and exercisnig like I do for the past year consistently), I tell them I'm "in training." Then I walk away, and thye're like, " training...for...what..." as I'm no longer within ear shot.
It's funny to me.

I am 34 years old, married and a father of a 2.5 year old. They are the motivators for me to reach my goal. I started the new journey on 8/21/06 @307 lbs and as of June '08, I have lost around 108 lbs. I have been able to keep 100 lb weight loss since Sept. '07. What keeps me on track is the Traineo community, vision of a healthy and fit future and the mini-goals below. *GOAL 1 = 244 lbs, Date = 2/15/07 Date Met = 2/7/07 *GOAL 2 = 229 lbs, Date = 3/22/07 Date Met = 3/30/07 ________________________ *GOAL 3 = 199 lbs, Date = 6/30/08 Date Met = 6/5/08 *GOAL 4 = 185 lbs, Date = 09/30/08 Date Met = TBD (185 is my "ultimate" goal. Then build muscle.)
Hobbies/Interests: Baseball, White Sox, bowling, WII, Xbox 360, PSP, XM, Opie and Anthony radio show, Ron and Fez radio show, variety of music, working out, running.
Personal Records: 5K - 26:18 (4/14/08-8:29/mile pace) 10K- 54:56-9/16/07-(8:43/mile pace) 10 Mile Run - CXLD due to injury Marathon - 10/12/08
Advice: - Set a Deadline: "A goal is a dream with a deadline - Napolean Hill." - Set Mini Goals - They help you accomplish small milestones on your way to the "ultimate" goal. - Track your progress. - Plan everything out. Daily workout routines, meals, etc. - Be patient. Your goals will eventually be met, if you work hard.

DIEting is definitely the wrong way of looking at it. Like you said it is a lifestyle change and what most people should be doing with their life.
Nathan, I love your approaches to things. Once I can get up to your weight loss levels I will get a bit more confident with my responses. Right now, I just tell people that I have a LOT more to lose.

My weight has gone up and down repeatedly in the last few years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before getting married 2 years ago, but have since gained most of it back.
I hope to find new motivation on this site, and hopefully make some new friends. This time I want to lose weight and keep it off. I'm trying to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle.

I agree completely - a diet is for the short term, but making the decision to be healthy is a life long choice.

I am 29 years old and have grown passionate about fitness and health! Overall, I have lost and kept off a little over 40 pounds, and I have about 20 or so more that I would like to take off. This last year has been tough and distracting in many ways, and I am back to work now! I am revisiting Traineo, because this site and the people here were instrumental in helping me lose my original 40 pounds so I am back! I regret that because of time constraints I won't be able to be AS active in the forums as I used to, but I will certainly try to stay in there and reconnect with old friend as well as make new ones.
My fitness goals remain the same as before as I haven't achieved them yet: *GOAL 1 = 140 lbs Target Date = 7/31/08 Date Met = TBD CURRENT FITNESS GOALS: Run a 5K, improve flexibility enough to do the splits, be able to do 50 pushups in a row, be able to do a pull-up, learn to do a hand stand and then hand stand pushups. :)

Ditto...ditto...ditto!
I honestly can't see myself changing from what I do now back to where I was. My current habits are the ones I would like to have for the rest of my life!
@Robert...thanks for the link to your site.

Hi I am Kat, I am seventeen and I started this school year at boarding school. Although it's not college, I have the same problems with living in dorms, going to the school's dining hall, and staying up late finishing work and studying. Luckily I haven't gained the "freshman 15" (like a good majority of my friends have), but I have gained some weight and would like to learn how to eat right in an environment with a wide variety of [mediocre] foods. Have you ever been to a buffet and decided to try a little of each, and before you knew it your plate is piled high? Imagine that for every meal every day! It's a slow learning process but I would love it if you would like to be my motivator. Just message me! : D Thanks

Makes total sense. The mind doesn't like the idea of a diet, I personally automatically think "restriction".
I mentioned in an earlier post that if you think about ADDING foods (more veggies and fruits) to make your plate colorful, then adjusting the portions of your other foods to accomodate the added food, you'll make more progress as far as a balanced meal, variety of colors and tastes, and in turn you might actually cut out more carbs and up your veggie intake. By telling yourself you are on a diet and therefore thinking you have to SUBTRACT foods, you probably automatically think about food constantly and get cravings more often.
Hope this helps!
Kat
