I recently decided to start the Herbalife Diet. I had a lot of success with this in the past and am excited to see the same kind of results this time around. My products arrived yesterday in the mail so I began my plan today with a starting weight of 263.0 lbs. My ultimate goal would be 200 lbs or less. I look forward to this journey and hope to become an active member on the site.

Words to live by: "Now's the time to grab the steering wheel of your life. Delve deep within yourself and take responsibility for your health and behavior. Ask yourself hard questions and face the truth of what needs to be done. Weight loss is not always easy or fair but you are the only one that can lose weight for you. Take a turn for the better!"
Goals: 1) Lose ~45 pounds 2) Work out at least 6 days a week 3) Eat healthier consistently
I will reward myself at the following weights: 235, 230, 225, 220, 215, 205, 200, 195
I will reassess my goals after I have met the above goals.

My goal is to complete the Dublin Marathon in October. Also to stick consistently to a healthy diet and thereby lower my BF%, overall weight and cholesterol.

I know 3/4 people on this diet, seems to be a bit of a craze at the mo'! I think its kind of like 'Slim Fast' - you drink shakes for breakfast and lunch and then have a 'normal' dinner. You also take a load of supplements...
That's the extent of my knowledge on it... I have to say though - maybe people would be better off just eating a balanced diet? The people I know who did it lost a few pounds but then it levelled off - most of them have stopped now because you can't go on living on shakes forever... it just doesn't seem sustainable.
Anyway that's just my opinion! I hope it works for you

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

what kind of success did you see in the past, rob? did those gains/that success remain when you left the diet plan? what contributed to you needing to begin the diet again?

My motivation disappeared for awhile, and quite frankly it's not all that visible at the moment. I've set up a 20 week workout plan to run a half marathon. Usually I overdo it the first week back, so hopefully this will help me increase my excercise gradually and do what I need to do to be healthy and happy again!

I lost 60 pounds on it the last time. I understand that there is no substitute for eating healthy and exercising. I still eat 1600 to 2000 calories a day on this diet and exercise.
I did gain the weight back last time but that was 100% my fault. Any diet you go on, if when you are done you go back to your old ways, well then that is all your fault. Even if you lose the weight "the right way" and you eat like a pig afterwards, I guarentee the weight comes back on.
I chose to do this because I clearly have no self control when choosing my own foods so I need this plan to be really strict with myself. Once I drop some weight I will probably transition to a more normal eating pattern but unti I can prove to myself that I can lose the weight I will be strict with my diet.

I am using the Zone way of eating (www.drsears.com) to attain my target and increase my wellness.
I'm losing weight for my health, energy, and for my friend's wedding so no one mistakes me for Ms. Piggy's sister.

So so true. Continuing to eat properly to maintain your weight is such a bore, isn't it? Alas, that's what you've got to do to keep it off!
Good luck on your diet and keep us updated.

rob, have you started working on your plan for when you transition this diet into a lifestyle? or is this diet something you could stay on for the rest of your life without health risks?
best of luck, and we're here to help or answer questions when needed.

Rob, as you get more into the healthy life style, the hope is that it becomes more 2nd nature to you and you consider the healthiness to be "normal." That is something that I am definitely working on. This is the 3rd battle of the bulge (as I've heard it called on here) for me and both previous times I lost the weight slowly and in a very healthy manner. And then went back to "normal" eating which was basically pigging out. So good luck to both of us on our journey to lose the weight again and then the ever so slippery task of maintaining!

Good luck, Rob. I'm starting my "life change" today, also. I refuse to call it a diet because diets don't work for me. A few years ago I went on a diet and lost 50lbs. Now I've gained it back. This time I'm working on changing life to a healthy well balanced life. I wish you the best and look forward to seeing your succeed.

Quoting: tdrinkard rob, have you started working on your plan for when you transition this diet into a lifestyle?
I have no problem maintaining my weight. That is what I have been doing for the last 6 months. Eating healthy and working out. The problem is, is that I was unable to cut my calories enough to actually drop weight. I am good with the maintaining aspect but needed a drastic change to get the weight loss moving in the right direction.
