I started using snacking last week instead of having small meals spaced apart. The diet has become way easier for me with having very small healthy snacks every couple hours instead of that looooooooong stretch between meals. Used to frustrate me to no end. Now I even find that I'm not as hungry as I used to be, even if my intake is still small. Usually I dont eat in the am, have no appetite. At work I've got Wheatables, grapes, etc.... And just have some once in a while. Highly suggest trying this.

Mike, I can relate to your frustration. I'm not real good at planning meals and it's easier for me to just stock up on healthy snacks that I can grab on the fly in small portions. I still try to eat 3 smalls meals during my day but in-between I might grab a small handful of nuts or a scoop of cottage cheese or even a small slice of turkey just to tide me over.

We've got to be careful though, because the snacking habit/method is alluring, and because it's easier and more flexible than planning meals I'm sure it can lead to counterproductive eating habits if not done carefully.

I snack when I work at home, but I have always had to keep careful track of the actual intake, otherwise my snacking tends to significantly exceed my calorie targets, especially since I will still sit down w/ the family at the end of the day for dinner.

I picked up some bento-like containers (plastic, small containers that all fit together)... now, for my work day, I'll have one with baby carrots, one with pea pods, one with celery/PB/craisins, I'll have a little container with a healthy GORP mix, and one with nuts/seeds/dried fruit for my lunch salad. I might even fit a half sandwich into one of them, if I'm feeling like I need to add that in.

So, basically, I graze my way through my little containers over the course of my work day. Since I've measured/planned all the little snacks, and, as a vegan, there is NADA available to me at work to add to all this, it's pretty controlled.
