Monna,

Whether she still lives in your house or not...your 20 yr. old still counts as someone you take care of, worry about, love, and would give anything for. I'm really proud of you for taking the time and putting forth effort to do something for YOU in the midst of taking care of 4 children AND working. You deserve the best, so enjoy this diet and the support we can all offer! We're pulling for you!

Mona - Good luck to you. I read the part about wanting to enter the dating world and you inspired me. I was having a oh my goodness, I am hungry moment and your feelings have helped keep that in check. I am very blessed to have been married to my husband for almost 18 years. We have a set of 5 year old twins. I know that is a big difference, but we tried a long time to have kids. That's another reason I blame weight gain on - fertility drugs!!!

You can do it Mona. It is hard to have discipline with kids because it is so easy to just get stressed out with them and then grab food to help you through it. It is time for all of us great ladies to put ourselves first and do this for us!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad it is 7:00pm and I can go to bed within the next couple of hours. Then, wake up to a great UP day!!!

Good evening, all

http://www.traineo.com/1263_0.html , the official group Beth set up for us JUDDDERS.

I must share here, ('cause I just can't seem to shadup about it!), that I weighed in today after my first week on the plan and I am DOWN 4.8 pounds! I am MUCHO PLEASED.

Hub and I will be going out for our, "Up-Valentines-Day Dinner" tonight.

Take care, All,

Minu - my hubby and I (with kids in tow) will be having our Valentine's celebration tonight, also since it is an UP day.

Will have to make it through tomorrow without the chocolate!

Congrats again on the loss!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to hear your delectable meal from tonight. It is so gourmet for us Americans!

Hey Minu,
Great job!!!
I won't forget. I don't get a whole lot of time on here now that it is limited to work breaks. I'll get in when I can.
You all have fun on your V-Day dinners. I guess I'll take myself out (sigh). Who knows, maybe there is a guy taking himself out. Sorry about the self pitty. The holidays are the toughest since my ex-husband left.
This too is only temporary.

Too true Monna. My dad left my mom after 23 years. Kinda knocked us all on our butts. That was a while ago and she just recently started dating again. She was fortunate and found someone. I'm jealous...

I'm with Minu. I can't stop talking about the fact that I'm down 9 pounds after my first week. So very very happy!

I am also am on the upday downday for about 3 weeks and lost 8 pounds. Emotinally, knowing I can eat "normal" food on my updays is huge!!! I really do want to read more about it - anyone know when the book is coming out?

Welcome Sue,
We understand what you mean. This diet is great. Sometimes it gets a little tough on down days, but it is so much easyer when you know you can have whatever food you are wanting tomorrow. Sometimes I'll get to the up day and not really want to eat all that much.
Beth is the one that can tell you where to look for info. If you scroll back you will find some of the info you are looking for in our texts.

The book isn't out yet. I know someone e-mailed Dr. Johnson and just got the ambiguous answer of "soon".

I emailed the doctor twice. He didn't mention a launch date for the book, but hopefully soon means just that...

Congrats to everyone on your weight loss - you too, sue!

Beth, have you weighed again? I just wanted to see how you are doing going into your second month...

I guess the other Angie & I will post our results tomorrow, and we'll probably not be able to shut up either!

Minu, have fun on your date tonight. I guess we'll have to wait until our little one is better - maybe this weekend!

I do not...I repeat DO NOT reccomend doing the updays for 4 days and down days for 3.. I am sooooo lightheaded. (not good with having littles running around.. ) I am on day 2 of down day and eating 500 cals a day.
I get to do a weighin after tomorrow so that's keeping me going. I probably ate a little too much on the up days too.. bleh bleh bleh.

Good job everyone!!! I wonder if having more weight to loose in the first place makes it come off easier (with all these 9 pound and up losses in the first week)

I think its cool that the Dr. gets back to all of you so quickly!!

Alyssa - What exactly do you mean when you say you do not recommend the 4 days of UP and 3 days of down. Every other week that is what the plan naturally does anyway. Are you saying that the UP Day/Down Day in general is not for you. Also, do you think the 4/3 is what is making you light-headed. Or do you think it just does not work like that.

please let me know your thoughts because you are obviously passionate about them.

Hi Valarie I just meant that there is the option of having 4 days in a row of up...and 3 days in a row of down (check earlier in the post) so that you could have weekends free (or whatever you'd like)

Hmm how do i sign in if i'm already signed in to traineo??

I have, and the scale is *not* really moving right now into week three! I am wondering why not, but I think it may be because I was eating more like 30-35% on calories in the shakes on my down days--perhaps I am now in maintenance mode and need to either add exercise or drop a a shake or something.

Now that I am in the down day groove, I know I can get by on relatively few calories. Yesterday I stayed around 500 cals with no problem. I could do less if I had to, because I am just not that hungry on the down days most of the time. If that doesn't do the trick, then I need to contact Dr. Johnson, I guess. Still, my clothes are fitting great and I *feel* slimmer.

I am going to get there, especially with the support of you wonderful diet buddies! (but, to be honest, I didn't post this earlier because I didn't want to be a downer on the successes posted here today . . . )

Don't be discouraged, Beth! Are you only in week three??? And you've already lost 14 lbs.?? (Is that right?) Maybe your body just needs to adjust to the new weight.

Well, we're here for you!!

'night all!

Alyssa - When we talked about having weekends free we mean by having Monday, Wed, and Friday as down days and then Tues/Thur and Sat/Sun as up days. Angie emailed Dr. Johnson and he said the effects would be the same.

Best of luck!

That's funny!! Yes, I think it would be impossible to have 3 down days in a row. I am not sure it would be good for anyone at all. But, the 4 UP days in a row would certainly be a blast!!!

How long have you been doing JUDDDD? Do you like it?

Beth - Keep your chin up! I wanted to speak of your question about emotion. I too am beginning to feel a liitle down or something. Can't quite put my finger on it. I am hoping that it is just PMS and not anything else.

Also, is anyone having trouble sleeping? I have been facing a bout of restless nights since starting this and it is about to get me. I keep thinking oh no, they are now saying that sleep is so important in weight loss and here I am not getting enough!

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced that.

I totally blew it yesterday....was doing up/down..was working..THEN being the [GENIUS that I am I decided I would to the Master Cleanse for a day.Part of that includes a salt water flush. You use UNiodized salt in 1 quart of water...this is supposed to clean you out, the last time I tried it nothing happened...I read it someplace else as 2 quarts of warm water and 2 tablespoons of the salt instead of 2 teaspoons...so I did the 2 quarts and actually kept it down. ....nothing happened. All day I dreaded getting on the scale with all that salt..I ended up not doing the master cleanse and just did a lower calorie day...gained 7 pounds..I could scream..Today I am definately going to do the Master Cleanse for the day because all those lemons are diuretic and with SEVEN POUNDS OF FLUID RETENTION over night..UGH..I won't do the salt water flush < duh> but the caloric intake of the cleanse will work/ I'll use less maple syrup in the drink. 7 lbs..would someone please just shoot me!

Noel,
If you don't mind me asking, HOW did you drink that?? The effects are most likely only temporary so chin up. I'm not sure I completelly understand everything you are talking about. Lemons and maple syrup? I can relate to your frustration.

You are absolutely right...you're gonna get there! We are all going to have our ups and downs on this diet (:rolleyes. For the first time, I know I have people in my corner, wanting me to succeed, helping me get back up when I feel discouraged EVEN if I've been doing what I should. So...keep doing what you're doing. You've done wonderful so far and I know it's going to keep melting away.

Val...It seems I have trouble getting to sleep (and staying there) the night before my down day. It SEEMS to be getting a little better now that my body is adjusting. Sleep is so important and most of us truly do not get enough rest. Maybe we should declare an American SIESTA and rally for 3 hour lunches for good digestion, a little excercise, and a small nap each work day. I hope you rest well tonight!
