I'm with you Valarie! Something to make me feel full... I would give anything for that right now!

It's good to see you back Monna. I hope you have completely recovered and can get through this down day. Also think, Annie..."Toooo-morrow, to-morrow, I'll eat it tomorrow, it's only a daaaaaaay, a----waaaaaay."

I can't believe how many posts are on here in the course of a day at work! Wow! What an incredible support system we've got at our fingertips!

You can find out where to buy PGX by going to:

http://www.slimstyles.com/contactus.htm

and clicking on the link "where to buy".

Incidentally, SS PGX comes in a number of incarnations. It comes as a caloric meal replacment in a number of different flavors. I have never tried these because I don't want the calories, I'd rather eat the food. It comes in capsules, which IMHO do not work well. The 2 versions I have used are the "appetite control fiber blend" (supposedly sweetened and orange flavored but actually doesn't tatse like much) and the "granules". The granules are flavorless, and are a way better deal...you get more servings for a cheaper price. What I do is mix it with a bit of lemon juice, splenda or equal, and water and blend...this tastes ok, but you have to down it pretty quick because it thickens up fast. Then I eat a small meal. On most down days for dinner I eat a huge turkey caesar salad that only clocks in at about 360 calories or something like that. I can post the recipe if you want.

BTW, myfooddiary costs $9/month, but IMHO it is well worth it. It's a great site.

Hey everyone! I emailed the Dr. again to ask about doing three down/ four up days. This is his response (my email follows):

Many people do what you are proposing, to leave the weekend open for up days. The effects appear to be the same, as long as you do it consistently. Thanks for the web site.

Dear Dr. Johnson and/or staff,

I have recently started the diet and have a question: Would a person reap similar benefits from this way of eating (weight loss, SIRT1 activation) if they did a modified version of the diet? For example, I was considering making Monday, Wednesday, Friday my down days and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday my up days. That gives me the weekend off.

Also, you have a group of diet followers at traineo.com. I am a member of this group, and we are all testing your diet! We're anxious for the book to come out...

Thank you for your reply to my question.

Sincerely,

So, it looks like we can leave the weekends open. That would work out so much better for me, anyway. We go out to eat on the weekends, and do our family things, so not eating would be difficult.

I just wanted to share the response with you. He didn't mention anything about the book, though...

Thank's for the info Dave.
Thank you Angie for the laugh. I loved it. I try to look at this often. It helps alot.
I am having a tough afternoon. I need some veggies to munch as soon as I leave work today. Most of my down days haven't been so bad. I guess I am totally better from the flu. I must say, most of the other people I know were sick a day or 2 longer than I was. I don't know if the diet has anything to do with it or not.

Angie, thank you for finding that out. That was the way I had decided to do it. It helps to know the Dr. approved of the method. I think we can all agree that it is much easyer to have the weekend off. Another reason to look forward to the weekend!!!

Monna, you will find that you are sick less often and if you are sick it doesn't last as long. I've been doing the JUDDDD for 3 years and have not been sick even though I have 3 children.

3 years!!! Can you tell us about its long term success? Did you go to the maintenance number after reaching your goal? Are you using it as an anti-aging thing?

Since some of you have mentioned trouble with hunger, I thought I'd mention another very effective, all natural appetite suppressant.

There is a *great* product by GNC called "Total Lean Reduce." (TLR) It works on the exact same principal as the new SlimFast Optima shakes ~ the ileal brake mechanism. The way I understand it, fat molecules would not ordinarily make it to the ileum except when you eat a very large meal (fatty?). When they do, it causes a signal to be sent to the brain to stop eating. Both the SlimFast shakes and TLR have found a way to have the fat molecules bypass regular digestion in the stomach and proceed to the ileum, where they then send out the fullness signals. The great thing about TLR is that you can eat it with regular food rather than as a shake/meal replacement. I have used this product and it is very effective at controlling hunger ~ although it tends to work better several hours after you take it rather than at the same meal. So if you want to feel full at breakfast for instance, take it the night before.

BTW, TLR is made from a product called Olibra, which is a special all natural oat/palm oil emulsion that was invented/patented by the Biotech firm Scotia Lipidteknik. There are several legit scientific studies done by reputable scientists which confirm its effectiveness at reducing food intake. It was introduced in some yogurts in Europe, but then Scotia went bankrupt because one of their drug products failed to get FDA approval. Olibra was taken over by another company and is now licensed to GNC to be used as a supplement. You can confirm any of this with a quick Google search.

Anyhow, right now I am just using the PGX, but if you used these 2 in combination I'm sure it would be even more effective. You can get it at your local GNC...I just tried ordering it off the website, but they are out of stock. Boo hoo.

Dave

PS TLR does have calories though...20 per "shot"

Here's my recipe for turkey caesar salad...it's huge and has 381 calories. Combine it with PGX and you won't feel hungry for a very long time. Albacore tuna works good too.

100 g turkey breast (135 cal)
Caesar salad (246 cal)
(5 cups romaine, 1/4 c. ff croutons, 1 T imitation Bacon Bits, 2 T parmesan, 3 T sour cream (full fat) mixed with 3 T Walden Farms calorie free Caesar dressing and 3 grams powdered caesar dressing mix...salad dressing aisle)

Walden Farms calorie free products are normally profoundly barfy, but if you mix them half and hald with full fat sour cream and a bit of powdered caesar dressing mix, you get an AMAZING caesar dressing that tastes full fat, creamy and just plain ROCKS!

Dave, I started doing Dr. Johnson's diet after I had my third child in 2003. I do 20-25% when I feel like I need to lose a few pounds. I struggle with about 5 pounds. When I don't feel the need to be as restrictive I do 50%. It is really easy to maintain you goal weight this way.

Thanks for the recipe, Dave. I have to admit, I am too cheap to spend money on any kind of pill or diet suppressant. I will definitely try out your turkey caesar salad, though!

Monna, I'm glad you could laugh a little. You would've laughed more if you could've seen me singing in an operatic voice while typing. ; )

Hi everyone, I am new to traineo. I read the Womans World article as well as JUDDDD website. I have been watching this thread for awhile now. I am so glad to see such great support here, it's fantastic. I will be starting the diet soon, right now I am nursing and can not cut my calories so drastically. My son is a little over 6 months and plan on weaning his soon, not to diet though!

I will be watching and joining soon. Keep up the good work everyone.

Well, it seems to be working!!!

I am down 3.5 lbs. after 6 days on this plan. That busts a pretty lengthy plateau for me. Hopefully it is sustainable!

I just had some hot lemon water and that helped a little.

Now I'm going to clean the house which should take a while and help me hold out for that first shake!

Angie, how did your down day go yesterday--okay?

Dana, did you have a lot to lose initially? (You don't have to get into specific numbers--I'm just asking in a general way). Did you find that you hit any plateaus, and if so, how did you handle that? Thanks! (And welcome, by the way!--glad you found us!)

I had not heard of this product, so thank you for sharing that information. We have a local GNC store, so next time I'm near there, I will take a look.

I made it through the day, and felt fine. Had another headache, but not as bad this time.

I just made turkey bacon and pancakes for breakfast! YUMMM!!

Hope all are doing well today.

I'm interested in looking for those granules. Thanks for the info, Dave.

Welcome, Chantal. Whenever you start your diet, we're here!!

I hope everyone has a good up or down day!

Beth,

I was very encouraged to see that you seem to be following judddd without much effort. However, I have not seen an update on your weight loss since the first couple of days you were on the diet. How is that going?

Welcome, welcome, welcome to you, Carol! So glad you have joined us!

It's going well! I did not post a loss yesterday when I weighed, but I think all us *ladies* especially have had that happen. However, I am down a total of 14 pounds since January 4, and I am just thrilled about that!

I'm looking forward to wowing my hubby on our 10th anniversary in May and shopping for some great "skinny" clothes to hit 30 with a bang in June!

Well, I must start over because my 5 year old daughter just hit the delete button so here goes.

My up day has gone very good. I did not wake up hungry and although I was longing for the UP day yesterday, I could really care less that it is here today. I had a club for lunch and only ate half and only a half a single serving bag of Baked Lays. Yesterday I was dreaming of going to Outback Steakhouse for dinner tonight, and now, we are staying home and I am grilling chicken and vegetables.

I am interested in seeing how everyone thinks they are progressing on the diet. I know we are all excited and determined, but I was wondering what we all felt truthfully. I know I woke up with another pound gone, but I keep saying that it is not real. (not sure why but I am). Anyway, do you all think this is an answered prayer and a couple of months from now we are all going to be so happy about our progress? Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are.

It sounds like you've been disappointed more than once with diets. I do understand where you're coming from, though. I keep telling people about the diet and that only time will tell. I DO think that we will be able to reach our goals if we stick with relatively healthy food and excercise on a regular basis. It may take a little more time than a couple of months, but just remember that the changes we dream of are worth the effort that we put forth. Lots of love to you Valarie!
