So far I still haven't eaten anything else and the shake and peppers filled me up more than I expected. If I eat at 25% I can still have 365 calories, and if I need it, I will do it. I'd just like to stick to this thing as close to possible and see if it will really take the pounds off for me. There's a lady on weighins.com who lost 4 pounds on it this week and another lady is averaging a .35 lb loss/day at this point.
I have done the Weight Watchers thing before, but I'm not one to jump in on the latest fad diet. (Ironic, that I am doing just that now, but I am ready for a change and this one gives me hope and seems doable.)
Try not to bite anybody's head off tonight! ARF!

I'll check out that weighins.com. That sounds inspiring! I had my bar at 11:30, then a shake at 2:45. I also had a few cucumber slices while fixing dinner so I wouldn't forget and "taste" what I was cooking!
Sounds like you got a great workout today Angie!
I've done WW, Slim Fast, Jenny Craig, Atkins - you name it. It's easy to stick to them for a while, but day in and day out gets tedious. So, I'm looking forward to tomorrow while hanging in there today. It's really not too bad...

I still haven't eaten past the shake and cucumber I had at lunch. It is now 6:00 pm and I am not even hungry. It is weird. If I would have had a cheeseburger for lunch, I would be starving right now. There has to be something to this.

I had son in Oct 2006 and would like to get back in shape by the time my oldest son turn 4. Currently I do a work out tape in the morning for 45 min. Started dieting 11 days ago. I plan on going for morning jogs on the 16th day. The hardest part is my belly fat, butt and legs. I will be breast feeding during this time till April 07. If you have any suggestions please let me know them. Thanks!!

I did this diet a couple of years ago, but didn't know there was a name for it. I did lose weight effortlessly, but once I started eating regular food again (meaning normal food, not particuarly unhealthy foods) the weight came back just as fast as it came off. Is there a correct way to come off it to keep the weight off? I never read anything about the up down diet, but will google it and see what comes up. Good Luck Beth!! I wish you much success.

Hey all! I still have 85 calories in the bank and it is 8:00. I've only eaten 2 shakes and a few green peppers. I definitely burned more calories than I consumed today, that's for SURE!
Nisa--I do believe that there is a maintenance schedule attatched to this diet. I am very concerned that when/if I choose to go off of this diet, I will regain whatever I lose. Thankfully we're all in this together and I think we'll be able to support each other and cross that bridge when we come to it. If you choose to do this with us, we will support you in your journey as well!
Valarie--way to go with your down day! It is weird that the appetite is more suppressed when you haven't totally pigged out...after the huge cheeseburger, my stomach usually feels like a bottomless pit!
I'm truly looking forward to tomorrow being an up day, but I am PLANNING on eating my fill of healthy foods with minimal "treats." If I've learned one thing, it's to make your calories COUNT!
Good night all!

Thanks so much for starting this thread. Without it, we wouldn't have much information on the diet. I'm not sure why the JUDDD diet website isn't more helpful, but I am so glad I stumbled upon your post.
Well, *I* wanted more information, too! I wanted to hear from others who were trying it. So my motives were selfish . . .
I'm glad you found the thread.

Thanks Angie. I have finally had dinner which was a 100 calorie bag of popcorn. Therefore, I have had 250 calories today. I wasn't sure if if was possible to have to few, so I also had a 60 calorie container of Yogurt. That does it for the day and I have successfully made it through another down day, having eaten 310 calories. If things get rough now, I'll just go to bed. It is wonderful when you pass 6:00 or so and you realize that hey, there's always early bedtime to deal with hunger!!!
Looking forward to the up day tomorrow, but I too am going to make good choices.

First down day gone... Other than a headache, I've felt fine all day. I may have gone over a little on my calorie allowance - 35%. That's still within the range, but the high end. I'll shoot for 25% on Friday.
To all those having a up day tomorrow - Enjoy!

About me: --------------------------- I'm an architecture student at a great school.
After trial and error, managed to shed the pounds for real.
What I'm doing: --------------------------- Portion control still a problem. HIIT 2x/week Starting weights 1x/week
I take stairs over escalator and elevator ALL THE TIME (I climb 6 sets of stairs minimum for the day at the metro 2-3floors?).
Extra note: --------------------------- I finally understand what being fit means! And I actually love running now thanks to HIIT.
Goal: lose the belly fat! My problem area. First goal: 120lbs - MET 2nd goal: 116lbs - MET 3rd goal: 112lbs ish with more muscle definition
Realizing I can't change the way my body stores fat and have a noticeable belly during the day (pic was morning with light breakfast after workout) I will work on making a stronger core to counter the pooch a bit
Dropped 1 pant size since last year (stable weight) Dropped 2 pant sizes since mid-Summer after Greece (pastries=weight gain)

omg I'm having a hard time just to eat 1500 calories, I've been mostly eating like 1800 which is like about 200 less than I "should" .. no wonder it's taking me forever to lose weight, even with exercise 3 times a week, but I've been adding some weight training to my routine so it'll hopefully help, god it's so fustrating! I still have 3 months until Greece! I have time I have time!!
I don't know how you can do it, with my 1500 calories which only includes all 3 main meals and 2 small healthy snack, I'm dying, right now I want to eat so I stuck a hard candy in my mouth.. which'll only distract me for 10 minutes..

I "spent" my last 85 calories on a salad with green peppers and 1 TBSP of ranch. I counted it as 65 calories, so I still actually have a few more calories to go, but I'm going to stop there. I'm at 20% today so that's pretty good for the 1st day.
Angie, I had a bit of a headache today as well. We made it through though! Great job!
Way to go on your calorie intake today as well Valarie. Enjoy your sleep and get ready for a great day tomorrow!
Jessica, hang in there to find your balance. I'm sure you can either cut portion sizes or substitute some lower calorie items if necessary! Good luck and don't give up!

I think the reason is because it is easier (for me) to fast than it is to eat in a rigid and very controlled way. Fasting actually somewhat kills my appetite. I am not starving for breakfast on my up day (and you might think I would be because of skipping most calories the prior day).
I don't know how to advise you--it sounds like you're having a tough time and are really frustrated. What do you want to do?

Surprisingly, I'm really not that hungry this morning! I think I'll go ahead and shower and get ready for work. I am kinda disappointed because I figured I'd be frying up that turkey bacon sitting in my fridge as soon as I awoke! This diet may be the answer to all my prayers!!!

Hi, Jessica,
I too am blown away that I was able to do my first down day on about 550 little cals. (spread out into 5 snacks, about every 3 hours, comprised of mostly proteins).
I've been used to restricting/cycling cals & carbs for a while now, (and it's worked fantastically), but no where near these kinds of low numbers--usually at around 1200 minimum on the lo-days--3 of them, minus about 400 cals. worth of cardio daily, followed by one maint-level day, then back to the classic 3 downs.
Now on my down days, I keep the exercising to the necessary for my back crunches.
After a week, if this turns out to work for this ole body of mine, I plan to stick to it until I reach my goal, then ease back up to maintenance levels. I have no doubt that cycling will become a staple in my ongoing regime for the rest of my life--it just works.
(I hope that munching on some super-lo-cal veggies can at least take the edge off the grumblies on your down days.)
: )

Beth and Angie - No I am not hungry. I have been up for more than 1.5 hours and still nothing. I am going to eat Special K and toast though, which is what I always eat for breakfast. This really is amazing. My sister is doing this also, so I will keep you posted on her progress. We are turning 38 and 40 years old this year and this is going to be our best year ever(since we had kids - before that we were beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Valarie,
I didn't wake up hungry either. Isn't that weird? You'd think we'd be starving after a down day...
I turned 40 last May, and although I had lost a little, I still wasn't where I wanted to be. I'm hoping by 41 in May I'll be darn close. That's great that you have the support of your sister. My sister is tall and thin, and doesn't understand the struggle I have with food.
Have a great up day!

Yesterday was my up day and I am supposed to be eating close to 2300 calories. My gosh- I have never eaten that much ever I don't think. It was really cool. Today is my down day and I am starting to get a bit hungry since it's lunchtime, but we will see. I'm going to wait till after wrok to have some goldfish crackers because I will need energy to work out. Tuesday was my first down day and it really sucked, but that was probably because I didn't eat a ton on Monday.
I am a computer programmer and everyone always eats lunch (because it's mostly guys). How do you tell people "no, I can't go to lunch with you?" (THey never go anywhere remotly healthy).

Minu, you crack me up!
I've had a decent UP day, but I did eat a piece of American Cookie Co. cookie cake...saying cookie is fun on this diet! I had 2 pieces of turkey bacon for breakfast and a bowl of cheerios w/ skim milk. Later for lunch I had Smart Ones Spinach Lasagna and an apple. I figure I've had around 700 calories or so and I'm allowed between 1975 to 2226 cal today. My husband wants Cracker Barrel and I'm happy to oblige tonight. We had to add an hour on to our school day today b/c of too many 2 hour delays.
I'm both nervous and excited about weighing in next Wednesday, actually Thursday morning since it's a down day. I'm really hoping to see at least 2 pounds lost and I will be thrilled!
I hope all of you are doing well today! <3<3<3

Angie...my night wasn't over. There was still dinner to make it through. I had a Grilled Chicken sandwich on grilled sour dough bread with tomato and lettuce...colby cheese melted over bacon...wiped the Mayo off...ate the whole thing with steak fries, but I couldn't finish them. I guess I'm cramming for my "down day" tomorrow. The thing is, even if I count that as 1,000 calories, I'm still not to my calorie limit. Weird!!!!!!!!!!! (but very, very cool)!

I was gonna weigh in after a week exactly, but seeing as that day will be following an up day, I'm going to weigh in on Tues. just after another down day is, (literally!), under the ole belt.
Every chance to see a marked difference on that scale, I'M a -TAKIN'!
Now, I'm off to the basement for some sweatin' to the Funk on my elliptical machine.
Good vibes, All,

Good morning all!
I enjoyed my up day yesterday, and like others have mentioned, was not hungry when I woke up yesterday, but am hungry this morning.
I just had some hot lemon water and that helped a little.
Now I'm going to clean the house which should take a while and help me hold out for that first shake!
Have a great day everybody

Hi Guys,
I was down with the flu for 2 days so I guess you could say I have had 2 down days in a row. According to the schedule I set for myself today is a down day. I actually stuck with it so far today, but I have been on this for a week and today has been my hardest down day. Today I am actually hungry. I just want to stay on track. I have noticed I may have only lost 4lbs on the scale, but my jeans are loose.
I really love reading everyones experiences. I am so happy I found this. It is great to know we are not alone in this. Keep it up everyone.
I am so happy to be getting somewhere. You guys are great!!!

Hi Everyone,
I found this forum by Googling for JUDDDD. I belong to another website where we track our calories called myfooddiary.com. A few of us have recently (foor about a week now) started this JUDDDD thing. We have a group in the forum over there too.
We all agree that this plan is total freedom. There are even some of us who plan to do it for the rest of our lives as an anti-aging tool and as a maintenance thing (using the 50-60% numbers). I haven't had my first weekly weigh-in but I hope it has been working.
I also wanted to let people know about something that has really helped on my down days. It is is called SlimStyles PGX granules. It is a special type of fiber that absorbs 600 times its weight in water. It makes a thick calorie free gel and helps keep you full for hours when combined with a small meal. Down days have been much easier with this stuff for me. Plus it has a whole bunch of other health benefits, such as regulating blood sugar and lowering cholesterol. It was developed at the University of Toronto.

Do you find that at a heath food store or what? I've never heard of it. Does it come in different flavors? Anything that can help can't be all bad.
I'm still hanging in there. I keep reminding myself I can have it tomorrow. (sounds like "there's no place like home" and click your heals LOL)
Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement. Maybe if this goes well in a year we can have a get together at my place. I live in Fort Myers, FL. 72* and sunshine. Wish you all were here!
