I am 26. College, stress, 21 meal plan... all caused me to go from 180 to 320. I realize I will probably never be 180 again but I think 250 is a very reasonable goal. My photo is a reminder to me that my body CAN be smaller and I CAN survive without massive amounts of food.

I dropped soda (diet actually) yesterday. I went to sleep with a headache and woke up with a headache and I am typing this with a headache. I have been drinking alot of water and I do not think I am dehydrated. I did some research and it seems that I have a caffeine headache, but I just want to know how long it might last. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Some people are sensative to the loss of caffinee. Take a few ibu's to dull the moment. You shouldn't have this for more than a few days if you are trying to stop caffinee uptake or just introduce some healthier alternatives like green/white teas, or caffinee free roobios/tisanes.

I am a contractor for a monolithic IT firm. This translates into a lot of time spent sitting. I have always been a big guy, but I am tired of being obese so I am going to utilize the power of community to hold my feet to the fire to stay active.

I know your pain!!!!
If you were a heavy pop drinker (more than 4 cans/bottles a day) your in for an unpleasant ride. But like Andy said some ibuprofen might help. If it gets REALLY bad take 1 excedrin (has 65 mg of caffiene in it) to stave off the worst.
Good friend quit a 4 liters of Mt. Dew a day habit cold turkey. The headaches were so bad they affected his vision. He is still caffiene free now though.

i've always wanted to be healthy and in shape, but been too lazy to really do it...until now. something in me finally said: "hey cindy. it's time to get your shit together." so i did. and i feel great.
i am currently on hiatus from my studies at columbia university in new york city. i'm a sociology major and hope to do my thesis and graduate work on the complex relationship between humans and drugs. i hope, ultimately, to split my time between tenured professorship, musicianship, and mothership.

when i was in college, i was a heavy coffee drinker (3 cups a day or more). some time in the middle of the school year, i realized that it was making me crazy and i wanted to stop. i did three things.
first, i bought a bottle of ibuprofen.
then, i stopped drinking coffee on a friday.
finally, i stayed in bed through the rest of the weekend.
and, voila! on monday, i was fine.

With a family history of obesity, staying fit and losing weight for me are more than nice-to-haves: They're essentials.

The headache shouldn't last more than a few days, but the best technique I've found is to taper off, rather than to quite cold turkey. That lets your body catch up with the fact that the caffeine isn't there to replace your neurotransmitters and to begin producing them again in the right amounts.
It sounds like you were consuming a LOT of soda (any other caffeinators of choice?). I've been there. I used to consume a 12 pack of Pepsi One in only a few days on a regular basis. Not the best thing for health! Gave it up, lost some weight, and my blood pressure is way down.

MUCH better now. I woke up and felt 100 times better. Hopefully now I can be caffeine free, or close to it. The main thing is that I am reducing my sodium intake. Good luck to everyone who fights this battle. It is a tough one but once you get through the first couple fo days everything is fine.

Once you are caffeine free... just remember even drinking decaf beverages (coffee, tea etc) if you are not consistant can give you headaches.
I am a new mom... quit cold turkey and was off caffeine for a year... after my baby was born, and I went back to work, I started drinking 1-2 cups of decaf coffee or tea a day... I still get headaches on the weekend if I don't drink the same at home.
Good Luck to you... hope your headache is gone!

I'm a typical stress eater, and I've been extremely stressed out for the past two years. Yeah, recipe for disaster! I can't say I look too bad, and the 22 fat kilos I want to lose to get back to my original weight do make me more curvaceous, but let's face it - it's just not who I am. To feel comfortable again, I definitely want to lose those extra kilos!
I'm mainly using Traineo to get some feedback, and to be able to keep track of my exercise. I only use the diet log sporadically, as the food itself isn't really my problem, but rather my notion of food as something that reduces stress.

Diet Coke nearly killed me. And giving it up was HORRIBLE. So I definitely feel your pain.

I'm a verified caffeine addict - there are health benefits to intake in small volumes, however - it boosts the metabolism and aids in fat burning.

I'm with Maxwell...I've reconciled myself to the fact that caffeine (specifically black coffee) is my vice of choice.
However, Traineo-ers (Traineo-ites?) might find WebMD's thoughts on caffeine and headaches useful.

I have an espresso machine which lives on my desk - it's required for the development of traineo! Interesting stuff in that article - it had never really occurred to me that it might be used for treating headaches!
