Hey guys 1 week and 2 days now since I've had my wisdom teeth removed. I have been eating only clear soups, yogurt, and other soft foods (bananas, mashed potatoes, etc). I've been taking a Men's One-A-Day multivitamin also. I'm also drinking about 5-7 glasses of water a day. I figure I'm eating about 500-700 calories a day now. I have noticed I have dropped 8 pounds in the 1 week & 2 days. I know most of this is water weight. What else can I do to add more calories because it really hurts when I eat?

I have enjoyed the weight loss and can visually see the results too (went from 205lbs to 197lbs) but don't think this is healthy at all. I have had the most energy I've had in a long time though. I think that has to do with no sodas, no fast food, etc. Thoughts? Opinions?

My favorite foods when my wisdom teeth came out were cold foods. Try making a smoothie. You can combine any of the following - fruit, yoghurt, milk, cereal, oats, juice, vegetables. Just get creative with the combinations.

Popsicles and ice cream usually go down as well. Not the best source of calories, but calories that taste good. :P

How about squishy cheeses? Like brie? You don't have to chew it to swallow and tastes good.

Periodic fasting isn't bad for you. Don't rush it.

When I broke my jaw, I got really light, because I couldn't eat anything. After the surgery, I found that on a liquid diet, I had an exceptionally difficult time taking in more than 300-500 calories a day. In 10 days after my crash before my surgery, I lost 17 pounds. So much for that cycling body.

So, I went shopping for something heavy. Fortunately, I discovered Boost and Ensure Plus. Ensure Plus is fairly balanced and packs 350 calories per bottle. If you're restricted to a liquid diet, but don't want to become malnourished, find that in your local grocery store. I drank six of those a day when I was still restricted to a liquid diet and my weight came back. Sadly, I was so happy when I could eat solid food again that I went a little bit overboard on the junk food, but that's another story.

Ensure Plus + Boost. They come in lots of flavors, don't have to be constantly refrigerated, and are available everywhere.

Good luck.
