Hi, I am 23 years old and have been gaining on pounds and this is getting to me. The thing is that after several efforts of exercise and dieting, I don’t seem to get any slimmer! There are many ways to lose weight, but I have exhausted all the ways I know. I have consulted a few people but all of them have been telling me the same thing. It isn’t helping me and only making my fears worse.

Is there some way to make me feel better!!!

get online and figure out the amount of calories you need for the weight you want to be...for example...my goal weight is 125, so i entered my height, age, and 125 along with my activity level on a calorie calculator....it came up with just over 1600 calories....so....with that information, I write down EVERYTHING that i eat...and make sure not to go over that number. I make those 1600 calories very healthy as well, getting at LEAST 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day, along with adequate protien, and 2 servings of low fat dairy...i also drink LOTS of water, and make sure to get enough sleep and some exercise daily!

Normally the equation is to eat less and move more...and to just not go TOO far below your calorie needs so that your metabolism slows down. Good luck to you on your journey towards a more healthy you!

What she said.

One of your problems is that you see losing weight as a temporary "effort" to give up on when you fail to see results, or if things get stressful or hectic.

Another problem is that, technically, there aren't that many ways to lose weight. You basically need to take in the right amount of energy so that your body doesn't want to store fat. This number will vary depending on the type of exercise you enjoy doing.

Are you really giving 100%? Can you tell me how many calories you ate yesterday, and how much of that was protein, fat and carbs? How many grams of sugar?

Hey Sizzler, First, so not give up. How long did it take you to gain the weight. No healthy loss is fast. Write down every bite you put in your mouth, move your body as much as possible. Take the stairs, park in the far parking place, eat what you like, just much less, and do not be too hard on yourself. Learn how to eat for a lifetime, not a short time. I am behind you all the way. What do you mean exactly by "exercise"?

There's a plethora of threads on this subject already, plenty of new ones too. In the interest of conciseness and discoverability of the information, not to mention to avoid endless repetition of the same stuff, I'm just going to refer you to those.

One thing I will say here, that I've said in plenty of other places: just the nature of the thread and the little bit of your mentality/attitude I can infer from your post... you have to accept that there is no easy way or shortcuts to get there. It's going to be hard and it's going to hurt; a lot of times it's going to suck, but the sooner you accept that and decide that you're going to do it anyways the better. In fact, the ONLY time it gets easier is after you TRULY accept the fact that it's supposed to be hard... only because at that point the fact that it's hard doesn't matter as much anymore because you've accepted it.

Wow! I just joined this site and I just wanted to say that all of you that responded to Sizzler Parker are so supportive, motivating, and inspiring! I am so glad I found this site! I have been struggling with my weight since I was little and I really need to get it together. Like Sizzler Parker, I felt like I had run the gamet of diets and exercise, but I recently realized that I need to make a lifestyle change and truly become healthy. I know I can do all things thru Christ who strengths me and it's nice to know that there are genuinely supportive people out there willing to help me make my dreams a reality! God Bless and good luck to everyone in their healthy life endeavors!

You are not the only one having problems trying to lose weight, without any success. I know that it is very frustrating to try all sorts of things and still be in the same shape…..I too have faced that!!! Just a couple of weeks back I came across Weight Loss 2008 that not only made me glad I did (I finally got a product that does the real thing) but got the work started. It has been a great way for me because it doesn’t throw up obstacles but gets the job done.

Ahh, gotta love the spam-vertisers.

At least pretend to contribute and be a positive member of the community first before you try to pitch your crap.

There's no magic product, no silver bullet that will make you thin and healthy. You can't take a pill and make your johnson 4 inches longer. There isn't really a guy in South Africa looking to give you millions of dollars if you just give him your bank account info.

I was expecting that... almost exactly 24 hours after the original post.

I think what is going on here is that someone makes a post - let's call it 'spam-prepping' - like "oh, I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas" - then 24 hours later someone swoops in with 'Wonder Product X' and saves the day. The exact same thing happened on another thread last week - I think it was "Does anyone know proven formulas for weight loss" or something similar.

I just hate to see all the lovely genuine Traineo members wasting their time by dishing out advice to someone who probably doesn't even exist. I don't want to seem like the world's biggest cynic but that is just my take on it .... Sizzler, if you do exist, feel free to come back and tell me off!!! Apologies I am wrong...
