I am a confessed chocoholic and dread all choclate related holidays.

I threw away (in the garbage) all leftover choclate from Christmas on Jan 1, 2008 and got through Valentines day without one bite of choclate. To combat Easter - I gave up chocolate for Lent with the intent of trying to extend it the two and a half days before my Cuba vacation begins.

Well the Easter bunny visited my house Saturday night and there is chocolate everywhere (I have a skinny 10 year old)! The temptation has not been too bad so far - I did have one small piece of dairy milk chocolate yesterday but I was able to walk away from the rest without too much trouble.

I need to get through the next two weeks without chocolate!!!! I need to lose at least 5 lb in the next two weeks to meet the goal I set for myself for the start of my vacation (to weigh in the 150's).

Help!!!

I just need to rant and to make myself accountable - thanks for listening!!!!

The cartoon is really cute. I think a small piece of chocolate everyday will not harm. Cherish it

Well, how bout this? You have to report on this post any more chocolate that you eat. But I really don't think it would be that bad if you had like 1 piece every other day or something like that.

Be strong, Kathy, you can do whatever you want to do.

I hear ya on the choco-madness though. While I stood in line at the market today, (a line that was damn long as the store was closing early for the holiday, and so it extended right down the bonbon aisle), I was surrounded by heaps of chocolate eggs and bunnies and fishes, and in no small measure either with brands like Lindt and Cote d'Or, (one of my FAV'S), etc. all towering over me like a scene from the Simpsons or something.

Beautiful thing is, I am thankfully no longer at the mercy of their velvety-sweet whispers, as after near two years of eating darned clean, it's apperant that I have for the most part, pruned my little choco-romance right down to size. I didn't even consider buying ANY at all.

La vie est belle.

Sher the problem is stopping at one!!!

I know one little chocolate will not hurt my weight loss/lifestyle changes but when I get bad I get really, really really bad and one whole bag of lindt lindor milk choclates is not enough and oh peanut butter and chocolate mixed together is just sinful!!!

I am usually pretty good at ignoring the chocolate as I have tried to teach my daughter better habits than I have - everything in moderation - just because I can't eat the chocolate doesn't mean that she can't have a healthy relationship with it. There is always a little chocolate in my house.

I will take Rachael suggestion of reporting every morsel of chocolate that I eat in this posting...God there are a ton of lindor easter eggs and hersey kisses at my house...darn my family...at least my daughter has good taste (expensive though it may be) in chocolate.

Minu I can only aspire to two years of eating clean (or at least cleaner than I did in the three years prior to Sept 2007). Halloween derailed me a little (probably was due more to the stress of the Master's level course that I was taking at the time) but I had a plan to deal with Christmas and Valentine's day and it worked. There just seems to be so much chocolate at my house right now and I don't want to ask my daughter to hide it from me. I want to be able to fight the Easter bunny and win!!! (Can't you really tell my head is fully engaged at work right now...this should be a holiday!)

Here's to a healthy relationship with the Easter Bunny!

If I can make a suggestion sister dear, speaking from experience never let yourself get hungry (famished) which is only asking you to overeat/binge on whatever is near including chocolate. I am living with some of your Mother's oatmeal, walnut, chocolate cookies in my basement (OMG, they are awesome!!) plus other containers of goodies that I refuse to open.

As long as I don't let myself get over hungry, I am fine. To start off my weight loss challenge back in December, I gave up cookies fully and completely (with Mom baking all the time it was HARD but my weightloss goals were more important with the cruises dates fast approaching).

I survived it until the night I landed back in Ottawa after my 36 hour trip home from Miami. By that time my body was so messed up from 18 days away and nearly two days without sleep, that I wanted anything and everything that represented cookies.

I am pleased to announce I am back on the "cookie free" bandwagon (after a 24 hr melt down), I lasted 75 days the last time.... I am at day 14 right now and going strong!

You can do it!!! Just think how good you will feel when you shed the layers of winter clothes on April 7th... the chocolate is NOT worth it!!! Repeat... the chococlate is NOT worth it!!

While mom and dad were gone every time I went down and checked on their house I helped myself (and Sarah) to one of those lovely oatmeal cookies (until they were gone). Boy I was glad when they were gone - she didn't leave too many and I only had one (two max) at a time but yah I know where you are coming from and I am glad they are in your freezer not mine!

And no the chocolate is not worth it! I will look wonderful in my bikinis (once I lose an additional 5 lbs I'll look svelte - will in my dreams but close enough)!

Just an update...I have eaten NO chocolate since I started this post! Notta one...nil...nothing! And there are still hundreds of tiny little chocolates at my house (my daughter's) and I haven't even been tempted!!!

But it's now the weekend and I find weekends can be more difficult then weekdays as I am at home. I also have an exam next Saturday that I have to study for...should have been working at the past few weeks...so hopefully I won't get too stressed out (as I can also be an emotional eater)!!

Kathy I know how chocolates can be tempting. For Valentines Day my mom bought me a heart shaped box of reeses peanut butter cups. Girl, I at the WHOLE box in like 3 days. I couldn't help it. So for Easter I told me om I didnt want a lot of candy because I didnt need to eat it. She said ok but still got me a basket. it has life saver hard candy's and a bunny (that I'll NEVER eat, I hate them) and 3 reeses peanut butter eggs. Have you ever had one of those? Reeses is like my weakness. seriously. So I ate one easter day of course..I had too. Then I looked at the calories and whatnot on the back. 180 calories for that little piece of candy for just ONE. I was shocked. So yeah I know where your coming from. I ate the other 2 cause they were very tempting

I've never been much on candy and sweets, however, I do have a weakness when it comes to those gold brick eggs.

I only had 2 this year!

I normally get a TON of candy.

This time I asked for a small dark chocolate bunny and a small bag of Jelly Belly beans (I only like about half the flavors in there, which is why I picked those).

I still have the (now headless) bunny, though.

well kathy there have been studies done that those cadbury eggs are now much smaller than they were years ago. i love those damn cadbury eggs. they are supersizing everything but shrinking the eggs and probably increasing the price as well-not that that stops anyone from buying them. just thought that id mention this so there might be a little less guilt if you have an egg or 2.

I'm not tempted by the cadbury eggs right now (as that is not what is in my house). Theones that are tempting me currently are the much smaller lindor milk chocolate easter eggs (the real small ones) and hersey kisses! I made sure there were no peanut butter egggs in my house cause my daughter doesn't eat those - they would have my name written all over them!

But I hear ya...and saw that same report...great for the waistline but I'm sure they didn't reduce the price!

Only in the US were the Cadbury eggs made smaller, and I suspect it has everything to do with making more money and nothing to do with health reasons.

Easter Bunny cut way back at our house this year, which ended up sending my son on a Cadbury egg hunt in some local stores a couple days later. He actually dug through a Cadbury display and found the very last egg underneath a bunch of candy bars. I guess Easter Bunny only bringing one egg per person was a little conservative.

Can you ask your daughter to put all her chocolate in some special place and NOT TELL YOU THE LOCATION?

Worth a try. If they are scattered all over, where you are seeing them, it's going to be harder. I wouldn't trust myself! I can make a nice Lindt 85% bar last at one square a day, but not with all the really sugary chocolate.

All the chocolates are in one container. I am trying not to hide them away as chocolate is a fact of life and I have to learn to live with that in moderation as well as every other type of food. I agree that having them scattered all over the house wouldn't be a good idea but hiding it away doesn't teach me self control either.

I am nearing the end of my weight loss journey (depending on what I do with my goal weight) and at some point when I do begin maintenance and start introducing more food back into my diet I have to learn that chocolate, if consumed at all, has to be comsumed in moderation!

Ha ha the skinny 10 year old ... we have one of those, and a giant 13 yr old.

I was introduced last night by an accomplice who shall remain unidentified, to the skinny 10 yr old's stash of Farley's tiny jelly eggs (jelly beans). These things are so "more-ish" that the dog smelled them from across the room and came a-beggin'. [Go figure .. a dog who likes jelly beans, garlic, any good cuisine, the smell of single malt scotch, tomatoes, Locatelli Romano cheese, you name it.]

The good thing was, I went surfing this morning with a few equally crazy friends in barely-above-freezing air temps, for an hour and a half, and when I came home, went ice skating for another hour and 15 minutes. An estimated 1400-1600 calories toasted. [Yes, I am hurtin' now, I am scared to move] But those jelly beans were completely burned off, I reckon.

That is the upside of the skinny 10 yr-old. I can go ride a bike for an hour or so, or surf or whatever, but he is gonna make sure I play hockey or something for another hour or so. No excuses accepted, no getting out of it.

My skinny ten year old dragged me and the dog for a walk during earth hour (go figure - so she wouldn't have to stay in the house when it got dark - we walked outside in the dark!). Your right a skinny ten year old keeps me hopping as well!

It's also her stash of chocolate and I can barely see the dent she has put in it in a week. So if she can eat it in moderation I am attempting to keep my mouth shut and let her have a healthy relationship with chocolate.

Not only do I have a skinny 10 year old but I also have a skinny husband who will finally be home after six long months on Wednesday night. And believe or not I still weigh more than him (unless he has put on weight)!
