When I started to study while having a full-time job at the same time, I allowed my appetite and my body to do whatever they wanted as my mind was occupied with gathering knowledge. Meanwhile my body gathered fat.
One day I got on a scale and hated the result more than usual. So it's either ending up with wobbly body parts or feeling good about myself.

I love to eat. Carbs is my weakness link that I always lose control in front of it.
I started running for fitness in 2007. Ever since I finished the 1st marathon (San Diego RnR 2007), I am addicted to running.
I started traineoing in Nov 2007. I have reached my goal weight in Jun 08 already. But, now, I don't care much about my weight. I care about it only if it affects my running performance.

I gave myself B today.
Pre-workout: raw oatmeal+applesauce
Post-workout together w/Dinner: pineapple, asparagus, red onion, salmon, pork ribs
Breakfast: Banana+peanut butter, soy milk
Lunch: veggie soup, salmon salad, skim milk+ decaf coffee
Snack: Dannon yogart, apple, 1/4 chocolate chip bagel
I have failed at the 1/4 chocolate chip bagel in the afternoon and I think I may have too much protein. I should not eat the ribs since I have salmon in dinner.

Dinner: stir fry veggies, 8 or so sushi rolls, strawberries with lite cool whip, banana, almond sweet and salty granola bar (700 Cal)
Total: 1900 Cal - I intentionally had a few extra calories yesterday because my muscles felt week in my work out yesterday. I though a little extra nutrition might help them out.

For dinner tonight, a few hundred grams of shredded red cabbage steamed with garlic and onions & tossed with 2 grilled, diced chicken breasts, a splash of soy sauce, a teaspoon of dark sesame oil, bit of balsamic, and likely some scotch bonnet hot sauce accents. If it won't be warm outside, I'll eat what I need.

Yaknow it WAS. I just can't believe how much I dig that damn cabbage. I cut it nice and long so they were much like noodles. I had trouble finishing it all, and so Mr. Poochini got the proteiny pluses.
Mmmm appley goodness. I like Fuji's. At present I'm on another Pink Lady kick.

I've always been bigger. Maybe not classified as being fat because I carry it pretty well. But, well, I'm fat. There's no fooling myself. In January, months of hard work paid off as my wife got pregnant with what will be our first child. I had been exercising a bit until that point, but I decided to ramp it up a notch and get my weight to where I can be healthy and be around a long time for my wife and kid.
I've been known to drop 40-50 pounds in 5 months or so on a few occasions, only to slowly gain that weight back over a couple years. This time is different. I know everybody says that and usually that statement doesn't come to fruit, but I've got that incentive...becoming a daddy.
Got a blog rolling- rokandroll.blogspot.com
I post on it a few times a week. Mostly fitness stuff. I try to be somewhat humorous. Check it out if you're REALLY bored.

i Slappy
I'm a slappy geek (IT Systems Analyst at work, Gadget lover at play) and ready to do something to change my state of slappiness...time to de-slappify myself.
Unfortunately, my love for all things tech is, by it's nature, a very sedentary lifestyle which has lead me down the path of being slappy (overweight/obese, in case you were curious). After having three different doctors strongly urge me to lose weight and a blood pressure reading of 190/110...this new path became an absolute must.
I've joined the Weight Watcher ranks and found it to be a great gateway to my 'lifestyle change'. It has been a tremendous help to reducing my calories, while helping get in my daily intake of fruits, vegetables, calcium, water, omega-3's, etc...
As for fitness, I have been using my eliptical trainer at home because running outdoors was a little harsh on my knees. This has helped to ease my hand off the TiVo remote and onto the home exercise equipment. I now watch digitally recorded shows while huffing and puffing. =P
I look forward to meeting new and interesting people on here and finding new 'thinspirations' and motivators.

I'll love to have the recipe. It sounds delicious. Hope it is easy to make.
Quoting: Minu a few hundred grams of shredded red cabbage steamed with garlic and onions & tossed with 2 grilled, diced chicken breasts, a splash of soy sauce, a teaspoon of dark sesame oil, bit of balsamic, and likely some scotch bonnet hot sauce accents
Sounds yummy! I love cabbage. I heard deep color veggie is higher in antioxidant. The red cabbage is probably the best of its kind.
Pre-work out: raw oatmeal, applesauce
Post-work out: pineapple, hard boiled egg
Lunch: grilled salmon salad, black bean soup, apple, 1 sample bite of chocolate bagel
Dinner: deli turkey ham, yellow bell pepper/red onion salad
Snack: soy milk, dannon yogurt
I gave myself A- today. The "-" was caused by the 1 sample bite of chocolate bagel.

Red Lentil and Spinach Soup
Serves 4
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 1 hour
1 Tablespoon of olive oil (I thought a teaspoon was sufficient!)
1 large brown onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 medium carrot, chopped
1 stick celery, chopped
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon curry powder (I used a madras curry powder)
1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes
2 Tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup red lentils
1.5 litres water
1 bunch english spinach, coarsley chopped
Heat oil in a large saucepan; cook onion and garlic, stirring until onion has softened. Add carrot and celery; cook, stirring, until lightly browned. Add cumin, chilli and curry, cook, stirring, until fragrant.
Add tomato paste and lentils; cook, stirring, about 5 minutes. Add water; bring to boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes until lentils have softened. Remove from heat; stir through spinach. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with lemon wedges if desired!

Thanks Sammie. I definitly will try it. I love lentils also. The ingredients looks quite healthy.
Quoting: sammiaaron english spinach
Any spinch will do, right? What is the difference between american spinach and english spinach? I think 1 tbsp of oil seems a lot as well.
Today:
Pre-workout: raw oatmeal, applesauce
Post-workout: pineapple, cottage cheese
Lunch: Chipotle grilled chicken salad, with some corn salsa and guacamole , no sour cream, no cheese
Dinner: salmon, french beans, red onion
snack: Espresso w/ soymilk no sugar, McDonald Fruit&Walnut Yogart Snack
I gave myself B-. I think I should not have the Espresso. Some web sites said Espresso is very low calories (6 cal). But, I don't believe it. Coffee beans are roasted with butter. It should not be low cal. Now, I found out the McDonald Fruit&Yogart Snack too high in fat.

Your welcome Glovia...I am guessing english and american spinach is the same? I used baby spinach leaves anyway LOL..same thing..both green and leafy!
I love lentils they are so good for you..only thing is though, when I make say a lentil soup for dinner, hubby looks at me after the soup and asks where his meat is lol
Enjoy
I had a meal replacement shake for breakfast as I was running out the door...hubby took me out to the 'Pig n Whistle' for lunch and I buggered my lunch up today I was a little piggy and ordered fish and chips hugeeeee side salad. I don't feel too bad - I just wish I had eaten the salad BEFORE the fish and chips..then I would've filled up on better foods rather than fried fish ahh well...such is life!
