Jenn, I knew it would be expensive, but it was still more than what I was expecting. It's definitely not going to be an every day kind of thing.

I was wondering how people manage to eat more and increase their calorie intake in a healthy way?

Have suffered with an eating disorder for quite a number of years and am trying to get better, however it's somewhat of a let down to eat twice what you would normally have in a day, and still only be at 1200-1400 calories!

Jonathan, there are plenty of things you can eat that are rather calorie-dense and healthy at the same time. My favorite is peanut butter! Also, there's whole cheese, milk, yogurt in the dairy department. Smoothies can be high-cal if you load them up the right way. Maybe try some protein powder.

Thanks for the replies Rachael, Cardio King and The New Me

Diary is probably my favourite food group; so lot's of milk, yogurt and cheese, along with smoothies, sounds good! I'm definitely looking into protein powder and there seems a great deal of topics about it here so I'll get reading.

M&M's sound good :P

Professional help has always been a difficult issue for me, yet I am going to book an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, thanks for reassuring me that it's a logical and necessary step, even if you didn't fully mean to! ;)

Thanks again, and I'll leave this thread for what it's meant to be used for. Will probably be posting here myself soon enough

I go to Wholefood only on Sat or Sun after a nice run as a reward! The good thing being expansive is that I have to be very choosy. I find it fun to decide what/amount to pick in the plate. It is a game with my bf to see who can select the best taste stuffs with lower cost.

Jonathan, my nutritionist said eating protein+carbs in the every meal will help controlling hungry, feel more satisfy and help to gain muscle. (Of course gaining muscle requires workout as well) Say if I eat an apple as snack, I must eat an egg or a piece of ham. It sounds simple, but it is not easy to do.

Jen, GNC sells individual protein power package. I think I can try it out and see if I like it. Do you have any recommended choices?

Today:
Pre-WO: raw oatmeal+applesauce 1/2 cp
Post-WO: pineapple 80g, cottage cheese 1/2cp
B: quaker granola bar 1, almond+peanut mix 0.5oz, hot cocoa 1/2cp, egg while 1, baby carrots 100g
L:Togo's Tuna wrap 1/2
S: Togo's Tuna wrap 1/2(left over from L)
D: broccoli salad 1cp, sweet corn 1/2 ear, scallops 4oz, butternut squash soup 1cp, some peanuts
~1400 cal

Grade B today. Lunch seemed having too much nuts-type of things.

I have a buy 1 get 1 free coupon from Togo's. Their stuffs are not bad at all. Their tuna sandwiches is probably the lowest cal one. I have asked to replace the bread with wheat tortilla wrap. It was so huge that I have to eat half as pm snack. I gave the free sandwiches to my bf as dinner.

Excellent choice That's the huge tub I used to get before I discovered the cheap stuff at walmart! Muscle milk tends to have a bit more calories, fat and carbs, than the usual protein shake, but it is damn tasty.

I've been eating like a horse, trying to get to 260lbs before the year is out. Currently 247lbs, managed to at least temporarily add a couple pounds in one day, thanks to-

Spaghetti&meatballs( Mulit-grain Pasta and homemade grass fed beef based Meatballs)

I had a 4 egg omelet (cage-free organic) with 4oz Turkey breast, a 1/4cup colbyjack 2% + 1 onion bagel this morning. I drink 2-3 24oz protein shakes every day now too. American Whey Double dutch chocolate with skim milk. Yum Yum!

Lunch will be left-over spaghetti, dinner will be grilled center cut pork loin chops, black-eyed peas, and fresh, raw, corn-on-the-cob.

Mark, why are you trying to gain weight? Do you have to be in a certain weight class for something?

No sir. I started doing weight and strength training regularly a few months ago, and have managed to gain 13lbs while getting rid of my spare tire gut. Many years of different sports and activities never yielded these kind of results, so I am kind of Gung-Ho right now.

jonathan-hang in there. im sure what you went through/what you are going through isnt easy and as much as you dont want the medical attention i think it is really impt b/c a professional will be able to guide you better depending upon your individual needs and health issues/concerns (blood pressure, blood levels , reintroduction of food and exercise in a healthy manner) any support right now for you is crucial. i had a friend with anorexia so i have some familiarity with what you have gone through.
