Electrolytes might be then next big thing. Everyone drinks, right? But do we drink the right things?

http://www.gozym.com/ and http://www.nuun.com/ are two examples. I think it works just fine.

Sounds like a good idea (I'm going to play devil's advocate)

So you drinnk water with stuff in it after you workout. You're supposed to drink water while you workout, and you're also supposed to eat properly after you workout. That would replace the proper nutrients you're missing anyways, shouldn't it?

It seems like a way just to get people who think water is boring to drink more water. Personally, I love pure unadulterated room temperature water, not cold, not warm or hot, just regular old water.

after workout? huh? during workout!

the electrolytes keep the body hydrated, better than plain water. maximized hydration!

are you trying to get free advertising or are just putting the product out there because you are genuinely impressed with it?

I did say drink during your workout...also if you are properly hydrated before your workout and drink (regular) water during, you really aren't at a risk of dehydrating (under average exercise). and i said to eat after your workout, you should be eating within an hour of your workout so your body has the opportunity to replenish what it lost.

electrolytes don't keep your body hydrated, water does.

And aside from all that, I wasn't making any sort of claim, I was just playing devil's advocate. You can stop yelling.

I am not discounting the importance of electrolytes.

When I go on extended fasts (fluids only) electrolytes are crucial after day 4-5.

Still that being said I doubt most people workout hard enough for long enough to seriously deplete their stores of electrolytes. Couple that with the fact that most of us probably eat more salt than we should. For me it is much more important that I get a source of protein after working out than anything else.

If adding a product to your water gets you to drink more over the course of a day then I am all for it. For me personally I only see the benefits when I am working in extreme conditions (used to unload UPS trucks, in the summer they get to be 130' F. inside) or prolonged physical exertion such as snowboarding all day. We are all unique and have different needs and as such results and requirements will vary.
