I have always been in fairly good shape, but a couple months ago I decided to make it a priority to work out and eat healthfully. Since then, I have been working out 4-6 days a week and trying to eat better. I have been doing great, seeing steady improvement, and overall feeling really good! But in the last week or so, I gained a lot of fat around my belly...I can't think of anything I've done differently that would spark this. Any ideas? It's really discouraging...especially since I just got a cold and haven't had the energy to go work out for the last few days.

Have you lost weight rapidly? Maybe it's just loose skin?

how do you know it is fat? are you taking body fat measurements? also, are you bloated (time of the month?)? retaining water? eating salty foods? i would journal what you are eating to know the exact cause. are you drinking alot of soda?

Yeah. I agree. From what you described it sounds like water weight. You could try an over the counter dieuretic. Otherwise maybe have a low-sodium meal, try to encorporate some Lemon or lemon juice and garlic. Those should help pull some of the water off. Try to just be careful with the salt/sodium. I can gain all the way up to 10 lbs if I chose to be bad and eat pizza or even canned foods that have a higher amount of sodium.

Thanks for the tips...I hadn't thought of that.

Ironically though, I've been drinking less water recently. (Only because I lot the water bottle I usually take everywhere with me and haven't gotten around to getting a new one.) Maybe my body is trying to store it more since I'm not getting as much water as usual?

i dont know how the body works in terms of storing water if you get less of it than usual ,but why not give it another week or so and let the body do its regular thing and get back to "normal" again and see what happens.
