so i'm going out to a mexican restaurant tonight to celebrate a couple of friends' birthdays, and i already know it's going to be a hassle figuring out what to eat!
what i'm really focused on is lower calorie food choices.. i'm going to attempt my best to not drink any alcohol and maybe just drink water (crossing my fingers That i stick to this!) and i can assume i wont be all that hungry (because i just fasted for a week) so maybe even an appetizer or side(s) would work too..
any suggestions on what i could order would be superb!

Try to get things that don't have a lot of cheese, sour cream, guacamole, ect. on it. Stay away from the high cal things. Also, don't snack on the chips if you can help it. Those chips are fried and full of calories. Salsa, tomatoes, lettuce you can have just about as much of as you want. I'm guessing you probably know the basics. Just pay attention to hidden calories, and remember that one meal isn't going to kill you. Have fun with your friends!

I'm a plant enthusiast dedicated to eating whole, fresh foods. As for exercise, I regularly participate in: swimming, water aerobics, yoga, the elliptical machine, the stair stepper, running, and weight training. I try to switch up my routine a lot so that I don't get bored. My biggest obstacle to weight loss is eating when I'm lonely or sad, but I've started keeping a list on my fridge of other things I can do to occupy my time. So far it's really been helping!
Aside from health and fitness, I was married in December 2007 and am enjoying being married and decorating our apartment. I am currently finishing my last semester as an undergraduate, and hope to begin an English MA program Fall 2009. I love reading, quilting, cooking, hiking, swimming, decorating, gardening, and striving to protect the environment. I'm also really pleased that Barack Obama is going to be our next president.
Let me know if you need a motivator! Good luck in your health and fitness efforts!

See if you can't make a request -- like, a bowl of beans and rice, with some tomato, maybe avocado mixed in, and salsa. They have all of those ingredients, so see what they'll be willing to do for you.
Good luck!
Also, to keep yourself accountable, tell your friends that you don't want to drink or eat chips, and tell them not to let you have any.

Maybe get a tostada and don't eat the totilla on the bottom. Chicken would probably be better than beef, then the rest is mostly lettuce, salsa, and fresh avacado (usually) ask for the sour cream on the side or for none at all. But by having it on the side you will have a better chance of limiting yourself on how much you use.
Good luck and have fun!

I'm a dancer, just now learning how to take better care of my body! I'm also a foodie and an advertising professional - not sure which of the three I like best. I like snowboarding, calico kittens, collecting badass hoodies and sneakers, poker, crude humor, the fine arts, and colorful socks.

i always feel its okay to treat yourself - grab sour cream and cheese on the side! one meal won't ruin it all for you. if anything, rice + beans is always yummy, and chicken fajitas are really filling and not too bad at all.

That's probably a good idea, just eating the fajita filling - you know the sizzling stuff from the skillet - yummy!!
