So I have decided to start eating Activia, a yogurt made by Dannon, that is supposed to regulate the digestive system.
Since I started the diet my digestion is no good. It's too slow.
I don't know whether the claims of the yogurt are true or not. I surely hope so.
Has any of you tried it for a while? Is it worth it?

I'm a plant enthusiast dedicated to eating whole, fresh foods. As for exercise, I regularly participate in: swimming, water aerobics, yoga, the elliptical machine, the stair stepper, running, and weight training. I try to switch up my routine a lot so that I don't get bored. My biggest obstacle to weight loss is eating when I'm lonely or sad, but I've started keeping a list on my fridge of other things I can do to occupy my time. So far it's really been helping!
Aside from health and fitness, I was married in December 2007 and am enjoying being married and decorating our apartment. I am currently finishing my last semester as an undergraduate, and hope to begin an English MA program Fall 2009. I love reading, quilting, cooking, hiking, swimming, decorating, gardening, and striving to protect the environment. I'm also really pleased that Barack Obama is going to be our next president.
Let me know if you need a motivator! Good luck in your health and fitness efforts!

I had an Activia Light this morning. It is my wifes and I stole one from her to try it.

I work with computers and I love what I do. This combination makes it difficult to stay in shape. However, I've been working out for the past few months and I'm starting to notice a difference so I'll keep this site updated in an effort to keep me on track.

My wife and I love the taste of Activia. The fact that it contains a probiotic culture is a side benefit, I suppose.

How is it "too slow"? Explain that, and why it's a bad thing.

There was some debate recently that said the claims of Dannon Activa might not be entirely true by a group of scientists. I don't have the article handy though.
Why is everyone so obsessed with their poop lately? First the Colon Cleaning thread and now this. And no one makes any jokes, it's kind of boring.
Here's my tip, I don't like eating fiber, so I take GNC fiber pills sometimes. EPIC poops. That's right, two flushers. Also one time I tried those garlic triscuits, and ate a whole box. Bathroom destruction! Any Kashi cereal. Also potentially hazardous.
If you want that monsterous deuce, look for dietary fiber on the box. Eat enough dietary fiber and you'll have to invest in plungers.

Heheh, all that aside how does it taste? The yogurt.
I dig all the wacky flavors around these days.
That said, I didn't read up on the brand in question; I thought it was just something good for the intestine's flora, like all yogurt, non?

Activia is one of the few yogurts I really like. Their blueberry and prune flavors are best, IMHO. Peach and strawberry are growing on me too.
They have just the right touch of rich, creamy taste and fruit chunks without going over or being too stingy -- a feat for low-fat yogurts, which generally taste a little stingy to me.
Since I have IBS, I'm very much interested in inflammation-reducing foods. Activia is just one -- others include tomato juice (low-sodium V8 is good), virgin olive oil, barley (and barley tea), and geranium thunbergii tea (the Japanese name eludes me right now). And of course avoiding trigger foods like dairy, plus eating lots of green leafy veggies for fiber.
I was recently introduced to Pepto Bismol which works pretty well for reducing inflammation and stomach discomfort. It's aspirin (really, it's salicylate!) for your tummy and is almost magical.

As Mike said, Dannon might be sued over Activia. Apperantly some scientists proved that it's bs and is no better for you at regulating your digestive system than any other yogurt; I wouldn't doubt it either, from the looks of this thread it seems they will be getting enough money to recover from the lawsuit lol.

Is Dannon actually claiming that Activia is superior than other yogurts at helping your digestive system? Or are they simply using the fact that all yogurts contain probiotic cultures and the fact that Activia has a unique, proprietary strain in Activia to their advantage when marketing?
I'm not sure myself, but I would imagine they are doing the latter. They don't have to make any false claims, but they can still give the impression that Activia is better for your digestion than other yogurts without actually stating it. A bit misleading, but hey, that's what marketing is . I'm not a marketing major, but that's what I would do.

One Year 19 Lbs lost.
For December 07 to December 08 the job is to lose another 17 lbs.
-- Coming up for nearly a year of Traineo. 22 lbs lost, 13 to go!
What a year! I want to thank Traineo and it's members, and my doctors and friends, and gym, and my walking and running training partner -- my dog -- who all have have been a big part of my recovery from a bad case of pneumonia last August, from high blood pressure in May and June, and support through herniated cervical discs in July August and the present.
Somehow, its been possible to keep the faith and keep going through the neck and arm pain, but even on some of those bad pain days, getting the exercise at the gym, on a C25K run, on a bike ride, or in the surf helps make it bearable.
A year ago -- at least sports-wise, for life is altogether another thing -- I was losing my sense of identity as a surfer and windsurfer, gaining a sense of identity as a cyclist, a runner, 9 months later reentering the surf, losing my ability to ride ... things came and went between hospital visits.
At times, all those things were stripped away -- and just to be able to walk down the block was an accomplishment. There were recoveries and sometimes just advil and bullish efforts.
It's good to be back in the surf and on the bike sometimes, neck/shoulder/arm pain notwithstanding.
My thoughts go out to all those Traineo members out there fighting their own health and spiritual battles...you know we are here in this small way.

I just like the taste and texture. Wish there were more in a serving. They are on the tiny side.
I have to "cadge" them from my wife. They are in short supply in the house, so she gets first dibs. It's rare I eat em, but they are very tasty. Probiotics are a plus.
On that note, I'd recommend Lifeway blueberry, peach or pomegranate Kefir, ossum!

I usually enjoy a French brand called Taillefine, who make some AWESOME flavors including pineapple, lemon, mandarin, passion fruit, prune, (LOVE PRUNE), and more
Yogurt has come so far since it's early days of plain with what appeared to be a blob of damn jam plopped in the bottom.

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

I also eat normal yogurt, kefir, acidofil and probiotics...
I hate added suggar and it is usually found in 'fruit' yogurts.
Better buy normal yogurt and add fresh fruit for yourselves, it is much healthier. And no added suggar.

You have to eat a lot of yogurt to get the true benefits of probiotics. If you really want to system straight, get acidopholis (spelling?) or probiotics at your local gnc or healthfood store. Look for 8 to 10 billion units.
