So I had half a sandwich earlier this morning.. Then for lunch I had the second half and a salad.. It all tasted soo good... but i still feel hungry.. I know I shouldn't feel hungry. Luckily i have no money to buy more food otherwise i really might have.

I am planning on drinking lots of water.. hoping that fills me up.. Anyone have any other advice of how to help phantom hunger while at work?

Thanks

The water helps!

I eat constantly all day long! That way, I never really get hungry. And things like fruit, packet of tuna, Dannon fit yogurt, 2% string cheese - all under 100 calories. That means you can have 3-5 snacks throughout the day and still eat 3 approx. 400 calorie meals w/out concern (and there's room for more if you need it!).

Your probably right. I should pack more food and eat smaller amounts throughout the day.

There are virtually no calories in your standard USB keyboard.

I've been chewing gum when I'm hungry, unless it's a mealtime. It has helped a lot. I chew Orbit Wintermint, btw. Tasty.

Great Idea! I'll have to get some of that and keep it at my desk.

Try eating a bit more for breakfast. Half a sandwich seems a little puny to me. Try starting your day with about 300 calories, and eat within an hour of waking up. I've recently read that an apple at breakfast does as good a job of waking you up as caffeine does. I haven't tried it because I don't like apples. Another thought: an apple will hold you over better than a piece of bread that's equivalent in calories.

I've noticed that eating a bit more for breakfast means I can eat a bit less at lunch and I still don't get hungry. If I don't eat at least 200 calories at breakfast I'll be hungry by lunch.

Make sure you always balance your carbs with moderate amounts of protein and fat - don't eat just carbs, or just protein, or just fat! It all helps in controlling your hunger.

I eat 1/2 cup oatmeal for breakfast, with applesauce, small bit of honey, and cinnamon mixed in. It's less than 300 calories.

Then I bring snacks -- almonds, fruit, LOTS of water.

Then I eat half my lunch at lunch time and the other half about two hours before I go home. Then I eat carrots or something when I get home, and then dinner. So basically, like Dave said -- eat all day long!

And make sure you eat breakfast. SO important.

Try brushing your teeth after your meals too; a lot of times when you're first adjusting to new eating habits it's your MIND that wants food, not your stomach and nothing makes me not want to eat more than that toothpaste taste in my mouth.

Your stomach doesn't need to be FULL for you to function, it just shouldn't be completely empty; your mind and body may just be out of sync.
